Hi,
I was hoping someone could take a look at the attached log that appears to have captured what causes my Streak to reboot when using GPS apps.
It happens regularly with Sygic or GMaps, it has also happened when using Freecaddie Pro but doesn't seem to affect Endomondo pro. It has happened on the 3 o2 dell streaks that I have owned. It started happening quite soon after I got the first device and that one was replaced under warranty as I thought it was something to do with the 2.2 upgrade o2 released. The second device was the same and was replaced under warranty due to a cracked screen. The 3rd device is now rooted and running DSC 1.1 (Excellent work) but this happens on any of the ROMS I have tried.
Any ideas gratefully received. I am out of contract and trying to decide whether to get a new device on contract with '3' either a Galaxy SIII or Note or go for the Sim only option with the streak. I use the GPS a lot so it is quite important but I also love the streak and don't want to change if it can be fixed.
One thought that has crossed my mind is could the SIM card cause such a problem?
Cheers,
Jon.
hmm... if you say the SIM might be the culprit... how bout trying with other SIM and see what happen? such as your parents SIM or your friends...
Had the same thought after I posted. Waiting for a new SIM to arrive on a different network on a 1 month rolling contract so I can still go for a new device if it doesn't fix it. Will report back when I have tested it.
Cheers,
Jon.

Just got a Cincinnati Bell Vibrant today (running froyo) - phone, etc., is just fine, absolutely no complaints, but I noticed almost immediately that the GPS won't acquire a lock. Not even on a single sat. I'm a GPS power-user (navigation, biking, running, etc. - I use it constantly), and this is a serious problem for me. I've never had a problem getting an instantaneous lock in this area on any of my previous phones. I tried the various fixes for the T-mobile Vibrant that are floating around the internet and all they do is grind my phone to halt. I grabbed the .apk for Samsung's GPSRestore app (because Cincinnati Bell won't make it available for us to download from the app store), but after "restoring" my settings, it tells me it can't acquire a lock and that I need to contact Samsung. Seeing as many people report improvement from the other fixes for their non-Cincinnati Bell phones, I just wanted to see if anybody has found anything that works for the Cincinnati Bell phones.
Thanks.
Cincinnati sucks for vibrant users. I've tried many roms and fixes and have never had adequate locks at all.
If gps is seriously important to you I would suggest returning the phone if possible.

If none of the GPS fixes worked for you just like me. Try the hardware fix below it works wonders !

I use my Vibrant on Cincinnati Bell and have never had a problem with gps.... Just try a couple of the GPS fixes here... Obviously you'll have to mod the phone to be able to flash.... The hardware and software is identical... T-mobile even appears in the build version under phone info... lol. Obviously if none of the fixes work then return the phone and get a new one.
What's more
Even more hilarious. If you take a bit of isopropanol and rub out the ugly "Cincinnati Bell" logo that they printed on, you will see it says T-mobile underneath! I laughed my a$$ when I saw that.

I actually just scratched it off with my fingernail when I got mine. CBW got a bunch of Vibrants and HTC Penaches (aka MyTouch4g) from TMo. As we know, CBW is notoriusly stubborn about their simlock policies. Once my contract is up (a few months), I am going flash it back to the Ultimobile 2.2 that was on there, unroot it and say to them, "You got this phone from TMo, simlocked it and you are telling me that you can't unlock it" I call BS.
Side Note: I had the Motorola XT720 which was manufacturer locked on 2.1 (with no upgrades ever planned). We were able to upgrade it ourselves by building 2.2 from the original Milestone A853 source. Few months later, CBW decides to give its customers Root and an "official" upgrade. Guess what, it was a hacked version of our version. We even saw some of our source buried in there. It was realeased by a sub-company Ultimobile. Now for the bad part. Because it was not really stolen (it is open source), from us, they put in a tracking code that if XT720 users outside of CBW market updated their phones, it would send data back to Ultimobile about who was using their product. Dirty Dirty Dirty. As soon as I got my Vibrant, i rooted it, found the code and instantly flashed a new ROM to get rid of it. Just an FYI
Going back to OP's issue, I have no problem whatsoever with GPS on CBW Vibrant. I just looked this morning and mine was made in Jan 2011.
Ditto what Woodrube said. While GPS with the Vibrant isn't stellar, it works reasonably well outdoors or in a car. The only issues I've run into were when using MIUI or CM7. The only fix I needed was to add an extra step (Angry GPS) before using Google Navigation and it was smooth sailing.
Try picking up a copy of AngryGPSMod.apk and doing a GPS test. It may suddenly start working as intended.
Hi, I found an Xperia Mini Pro a couple months back and while owning a HTC Legend, I am quite fond of this mobile.
However the previous owner didn't put much info such as home number or something similar for me to return It so I kept it.
Now one month after that I was unable to make/receive calls or send text messages on that Xperia X10 mini pro. Due to not having some kind of an insurance for the phone, I took it to 3 Mobile shops that claimed that they could "open" the phone and remove this lock.
The prices were different but It didn't matter but none of them were able to fix the phone.
One claimed that the phone was open for two days and fully functional but when I retrieved it, the shop clerk told me that It got disabled again.
So now months later and this phone in my drawer collecting dust, Is there any way to fix this phone?
Custom roms don't seem to do the trick.
I have tried to change the sms communications settings via a hidden menu but nothing.
I still have the old sim card from when I first found it, If it can be of any use now.
Thanks for reading and I hope there is a way to fix this phone.
Seems that your phone IMEI is blacklisted on your operator (maybe due to a request by original owner).
Since there's no easy (and legally) way to change IMEI and you don't have the bill of sale, I don't think you can put your phone online again.
Call your operator and inform you found a phone. Maybe they can find the owner for you and you'll make someone happy.
Regards

so.... let me get this straight.....
u FOUND a phone that wasnt yours?? and you just... started using it????
Did you happen to think "hmmmm maybe someone's lookin for this baby somewhere...." ??
Call the operator and try to return the phone.. after that, bury ur head in shame!
EDIT: and u had the nerve to ask xda for help!
Scenario:
You have a new, working Atrix that will be returned to the factory when I receive my replacement within the next few day's....
Do you
A) Try and experiment as much as you can on it, knowing you will have a replacement device here soon and flash like crazy?
B) Don't waste the time?
C) Just keep doing more research until my next Atrix comes in, then happily flash?
Cliff notes:
I had a CM7 Atrix (Ba2Tf) Up until last week.. Went in to Att and exchanged it for a newly operating unit because my FP scanner was not working.. ((IT was not working even before the CM7 so don't try to clown... )) LOL
Anyways, what would you do? Im kinda bored ATM.. but don't know if ATT will deny the unit through the mail since it would be technically"Unlocked"
why would you experiment when you don't know whether or not AT&T will give you a new phone?
My new phone is in the mail.. It will be here in a couple days
Maybe I should have said mail
Hi folks.
I just got myself a brand new Lumia 800 (from o2, but sim unlocked)
At the beginning everything went well and the phone was running great.
Then yesterday evening the problems started. First there was a synching problem with my office365 account. I figured out it was a problem with one of the contacts (apparently the same bug that already existed for GMAIL accoutns in WP7).
After that the phone started rebooting itself on several occassions. Sometimes even without me doing anything, even doing another reboot right after it already rebooted once.
It's pretty hard to track down what is responsible for it. It happens a lot of time when I read emails, although not only (for example it just rebooted during Nokia Navigation, I was not even touching the phone, just driving with the navigation on...)
Has anybody had similiar problems? It's seriously annoying.
I even did a hard reset - made no difference. Set up everything new etc.
update
Update: It might be an issue with my sim card, phone seems to run fine without it. Luckily I'll get a new one activated on Tuesday, so I'll wait and retry then again
Curious, did you get a new microSIM when you got the phone or hand cut to fit?

Hand cut. Interestingly it worked for 3 days straight without any problems and then suddenly it started, that's why I didn't think the problem might be the SIM card.
Interesting to know that dodgy contacts (which I think might be the issue) cause immediate reboots
Interesting conclusion, I hand cut mine and so far, so good. Will bear this in mind though, you never know.
BUT
Just removing the SIM doesn't discount it, as it disables the cell radio, it could be related to that rather than the SIM itself.
I'll see on Tuesday when my new SIM gets activated. I'll report back how it works out

Update
Update: The problem really was the loose SIM card. Zero problems with the new Micro-SIM. Phone runs perfectly. I love it.
So if you ever encounter reboot loops you might wanna check your SIM
Great stuff, lets hope my home brew microSIM holds out then.
Obvious fault of the old SIM card. With me on the forum were also such cases.
rebooting system
i have lumia 800 and i have the same problem.i have send my phone back to nokia 3 times to fix it but nothing. i have pay 30,00 euros for ram-changes but still nothing.now i ll buy new sim card and see if the problem stays
Hi,
Here is my story.
I have Nexus devices since the first one, and every year i replace the old model for newer one.
Yesterday i bought i Nexus 5 to replace my current Nexus 4.
I did the same old show i always do when i buy a new Nexus : rooted it and installed my favorite rom, AOKP. I used Nexus Root Tookit 1.8.1 to unlock and root.
Everything seemed to be fine until i tried to use mobile data connection for the first time (i was using Wifi only until then). What happens : the Nexus keep connecting and dropping connection. The 'H' icon appears and suddenly disappears, then even the signal bars fade out. Then the signal bars appear again , then the H, then i see the arrows trying to connect and... boom, the process starts all over again. Restored a Nandroid backup from the stock rom, same problem !
I thought was a failed device, so i went to the shop to replace , as i bought it yesterday.
BUT when i get there, the sales guy refuses to replace it because i rooted the phone. Well , i always read this kind of thing, if you root the phone, you void warranty, but as i've been doing it for years, never worried about. But now...
So this is my situation : i just paid about us$ 600 (i live in Brazil) for a phone that does not work.
I really want to believe it's a software problem and some tweak will fix it. I'm a software developer and i never see something like you damage hardware components by installing software... makes no sense.
And if the device already had this problem before the root process i will win the bad lucky prize...
Please help, any hints will be VERY appreciated. It's not easy to earn 600 bucks, believe me
Cheers
The entire thing turned to be a mistery.
I could unroot and relock the bootloader, so the sales guy agreed to replace the device.
But the new one, just opened, had the same problem !
So i went to the carrier shop and replaced my SIM card. No lucky.
Maybe the device is not compatbile with my carrier ?
The problem was on my carrier network, nevermind.
