Draw something crazy unstable on leaked ICS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Is it just ICS, or did I screw up my phone?

I'm not really sure what you want to know. Post a screenshot or give a discription of the issue.

No it's not just you, mine is crazy too with this update. For one it's the update from Draw Something (there's crazy ads now) ,combined with the ad killer built in the ROM, not a good combo. Just my opinion.

Really hate the new update. Ads are so obnoxious. Zanga screwed it up badly.

It ran fine for me but deleted it after the new update when they requested access to my email. I declined and uninstalled. They decided they were going to email me anyways so I sent back a nasty email. They replied back with instructions on how to unsubscribe and I responded back with a picture showing no hyperlink on the unsubscribe. Zynga is a evil company and wants way too much access.

Wait a minute, what?!?!??
Access to your email, how? As in, your email address and email password?
And for what reason?
I dont play Draw Something so forgive my ignorance or I would look into this myself.

Definitely 2 to 3 times the ads now... I have stopped playing.

Just giving a warning. Freezing, force closes, crashing, etc. ICS may be a bad idea for draw something addicts. The new version of draw something was rock solid on GB before I flashed.

Or pay .99¢ and get ad free. Works on ics for me 100% lag free.

No issues here on our note or skyrocket..both running leaked ics

If you're using something like AdAway to block ads, add saturn.appadds.com to your hosts to remove the ads in Draw Something.

i paid for mine and still refuse to play anymore (after it was sold). Zynga is a bunch of douches, and not the nice kind that make a Va-Jay-Jay smell like a spring meadow.

Market - Update All

I really hate Android Market. It's probably the worse app of all android apps (ironical isn't it?).
But one of the things that really makes me crazy is the "Update All" feature. It just never works! Not only that, it actually makes things worse!
Usually it tries to download all things at once which soon causes a crash of the app or device, after which the progress of all apps just stays stuck, even when they're 100% downloaded!
Then the only solution is to go over all of the apps, one by one, cancelling the download (after which the app is shown as "not installed" in the market!) and installing again.
So this superduper feature costs even more time than updateing one-by-one would!
Am I the only one experiencing this? I really hate it!
Streak with 1.6
No I have the same problem tics me off to
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I could be wrong but I don't think 1.6 supports the update all feature. In any case, I've never had that problem on either my streak or nexus one. Maybe if you cleared the cache in the market app that might help.
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
it causes errors when an application that needs update requires permissions. these are not properly handled by 1.6 but should work in 2.2.
I just use AppBrain. Very useful to remember what apps you have installed if you have to do a total reset too.

I second p_razzi. Appbrain rocks.

Because Market gets often automatically updated and I hoped they'd fix such a problem soon (naive, I know).

[Q] Gameloft advertising in the Notifications screen

What an application puts the annoying advertising for Gameloft in the Notifications screen?
Can it be frozen/uninstalled/disabled?
its a gameloft game not a system app...
Just disable the option from the gameloft game you are playing
I never play a game. ???

Maybe a screenshot would be more clarifying. Maybe we are not talking about the same thing. Post a screenshot, so we can see what you are talking about.
That's what shows up once or txice a day:

OP, can you translate what that message says in the screenshot?
Without knowing the meaning of the message, just by the looks of it, it seems to be some spam message promising you a gameloft game for something. It porbably does not even come from gameloft
Please translate so we can be sure.

1 free Gameloft game. Must be from an application he installed in his phone that gets access to internet, most likely from a game.
so yes, this is spam. OP - you installed some software that is trying to make you tap this "free" offer and then it will get some direct or indirect monetary gain from this action. This is most probably not coming from Gameloft.
shure it's from gameloft. By tapping on it, the link brings me to there website where you can buy games.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Well, you said you did not have any gameloft apps on your phone, so it is possible that Gameloft is paying money to whatever spam app displayed this message on your phone.
Did you try searching the app driver for an app that has an icon that looks like that + sign in your notification bar?
What apps have you installed recently? any of them fishy/spammy? like for example a calculator that needs access to the internet?
If there is a notification where can I find something like a logfile for the notifications?

Anyone use anti-virus

I don't believe there are android viruses heavy in the wild but does anyone run one? Which one and why?

I use Avast. Use on my PC and it works well. It also has an anti theft routine that allows you to wipe and lock the phone remotely. Its also free.
Ive never ran one but I noticed that most of the guys over at Android Central use Lookout. There must be some benefit.
until i see an antivirus app actually clean an infected phone, i dont see the need right now.
I use "Common Sense: 1997 Edition."
Seriously, most of the malware or dirty apps are MP3 downloaders or similar apps. If you have to ask, it's probably not legitimate.
I use Avast only because of the root features--I downloaded a sketchy apk from a Russian forum (it was that Portal port, OK!) and Avast notified me right away that there was a virus embedded in it. I later found out that the place I downloaded from was not the original posting, it was on a completely different forum (both were Russian though).

Lookout seems to work pretty well, but it's quite a battery drainer. I used to use AVG, and it was quite a bit better as far as battery goes. Now I don't use one at all. As long as you put a little thought into what you do and do not download, you don't need it.

If you are running or going to run ANY ICS rom::::LOOK HERE FIRST

There is a very real bug that is happening to our phones that is completely and totally random and will hit you with no warning. It is called the Encryption Error Bug and will render your /data partition as useless. Meaning that you will no longer have access to your internal_SD card or any of it contents.
I am making this thread as a warning to all who are either running or thinking about running an ICS ROM. Post here if you like or not (there are already multiple threads about the work arounds and questions, but in almost every one of them, there is a post that say, "I've never heard of this" or "I don't know what happened, but I got this bug".
If your files on your internal_SD are important to you (i.e pictures of your new born baby or a saved voicemail from your long lost grandmother, MAKE A COPY OF YOUR INTERNAL and save it to your PC.

FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK
**If after you get on and are rocking the ICS of your dreams, you wake up one day and get the Encryption Unsuccessful - Reset Android - ICS Issue, see bottom of post for possible solution**
DO NOT HIT RESET repeat DO NOT HIT RESET
It is a bug that is hitting all ICS ROMS (AOSP-Passion, AOKP-Zen/Euphoria, Docmasters, CM9,...) on many different types of phones (Captivate, Vibrant, I-9000) and someone got hit with it in my OG Transformer Tablet (TF101) forums too.
You have been warned.

I've read this before but it has recently resurfaced and I feel it should be in this thread, if only as a reference post.
Notes on the implementation of encryption in Android 3.0
This was the path I was heading down before unwashed sidetracked with yet another valid theory. I'm on my tablet now but I'll post more extensively tomorrow or the next if I can.
Thanks. I've used passion, euphoria and now slim and have yet to cross this problem *crosses fingers*

Next 3d launcher on Max! Wonderful....

Playing around with various launcher and this one is a work of art....The 3d option in settings says that the configuration is wrong when it's selected but I'm yet to find anything that doesn't work flawlessly....

Why did you post here about that program? That **** is nothing but a gateway for ads and a slower phone. I'm kinda pissed I downloaded it.
Late reply.....I'm sorry you didn't like...I'm running this launcher in it's various states on three different devices, I haven't seen any ads associated with it and all three devices are running smooth as silk....

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Spend a couple years on the stagnant iOS of the iPhone and you will be begging for an opportunity to buy something like this. We are very lucky to have the option.....and it's worth every cent.
“Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.”
-Oscar Wilde
I agree, and that's why I've never bought an iphone. But just for a launcher, I find the price quite expensive, and I'm not the only one, even if any work deserves payment ...
