Power noise test failed - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all! I tried to do all test with *#0#* and at "sensor test" and then "power noise test" always failed the test. The message is "Lcd test stopped" or something... (i don't know the perfect tranlste for italian).
Anyone have just tried it?

Yes, my power noise test 'failed' as well. I didn't have a charger plugged in at the time - not sure if that matters.

I've just tried with charger plugged in and it's the same thing...

what is power
@noise? my sgs 3 failed also?

Can somebody please answer the question already? What is "power noise" and why does my S III always fail the test? Is this the reason why my battery only last 6-7 hours despite disabling every battery hogging feature available?

Silly
Hi!
I just tried this with my S3 and... it passed!

Ok so it passes when the phone is plugged in & fully chrged. I'll have to do some more tests to make sure battery life actually determines whether it passes or fails. Still I would like to know what "power noise" is. Google hasn't been very helpful at all; I get very few results and this topic is the only relevant one.

Try not to move the phone. Keep it on a level surface while trying the test. Hint: it depends on the x, y, z values.
Hit thanks if I helped.

I'll hit thanks as soon as I get my explanation! Though that does provide a bit of insight about what the test is for, if not answering the question entirely.

put your on flat surface and don't move....then try the test.

Touchscreen sensitivity app

I had a galaxy's, and recently I bought a Atrix.
I noticed that Atrix has a touch screen less sensitive than galaxy.
I've downloaded from the market "sgs touchscreen booster", this is an app to manage the touchscreen galaxy.
I tried it on 'Atrix and it works fine for me.
Now I am satisfied with the touchscreen.
If anyone has the same problem, I advise him to try.
Sorry for my bad English
I can not tell if it is even working.

you are awesome!
I had the touchscreen bug where my screen would go unresponsive, was going to bring it in today (concerned about my device having the france rom on it.) and this app got it working again perfectly!
will be sure to buy you a beer on payday if this holds up.

Same. I still, along with (I think) everyone, have the issue with multi-touch when you hold fingers down for a certain number of seconds and the screen equalizes it, forcing you to wait a few seconds and try it again. This really annoys me on games like Jet Car Stunts, when, for example, I hold the accelerate button but eventually I have to let go and press it again to keep the car accelerating.
yeah that apparently is a feature and done by design from what I read. the problem i had was worse in the sent that imagine the screen going nuts after 5 seconds of activity.
Is there any way to increase the multitouch number. This app says it can but it doesn't work I know this is for the galaxy but is there any other way?

Seems.to work like a charm

I was getting so annoyed of this phone because when i tried to typed i couldnt type one work without making a huge mistake because the screen wasnt picking up everything i guess. if i typed hey fast it would just type "hy" or something. but when i did this and put the sensitivity up to 80% and left the rest on default it fixed it. now i can type fast without any mistakes and it seems as it fixed multitouch problems as well! This app is definitely recommended.
I've always thought the Atrix screen could do with a higher sensitivity, after using the iphone. It might be all in the mind, but this app does seem to help. It is particularly noticeable when typing, I no longer have any missed letters where I haven't pressed hard enough.
Thanks for sharing this app

If phone is turning off in download mode I doubt it is the ROM installed. Have you tried swapping batteries?
Also the issue seems to ONLY HAPPEN WHEN MOVING THE PHONE! SO I dont think Its a doftware issue. I tried changing battries same issue. It stayed on all NIGHT last night. Then when I go to touch it this morning it restarts.

How about if you leave the charger plugged in? Hopefully you can get the opportunity to get it restored to stock and have it exchanged under warranty.
Edit: stuck power button maybe?

It does it with charger too. But ONLY really does it while moving it
I CANT get it to even turn on now, It will viberate and show samsung and then shut off
I can get it into download mode for a sec and it will flash and turn off
The power button got mashed a little too hard.
If its store bought, its a warranty issue.
If its Craigslist or ebay you have to pull the whole thing apart and reseat the silver button in the case correctly and reassemble.
I've come across a few phones that have this defect.

Effect of illuminated capacitive buttons on battery?

Like the title says,
does anyone know what the effect would be on the battery if you were to keep the capacitive buttons on all the time? (like in %)
Thank you so much in advance.

Haha!
I'd just like to keep it on all the time, because I think it looks good, but hate the fact that it only illuminates *after* touching the button, although I understand that Samsung can't know when you'd like to push those buttons.
And since I hate that the buttons are so inconsistent, I just keep them off all the time, because that looks cool too, but then again when I hand someone my phone, he/she doesn't get that there are buttons present there, which means they always press them, which then again leaves me to explain that this is not an iPhone and that there are cooler devices out there who work differently.

Exactly. I am afraid it wouldn't do any good, but I was just wondering: how much faster would the battery level drain (in comparison with the default settings).
R: Effect of illuminated capacitive buttons on battery?
You can activate the always on mode in the screen settings....but u do know nobody here will actually test battery drainage times with and without the buttons always on just to make a percentage for you man?
Srsly, try it for a couple of days and ull see....but i dont see them as such a neat feature, i like much more the colored notification led which can be changed with the lightflow app

I know. I just wondered *if* someone tried it already. And if so, if he/she would be so kind to share his/her results.
I am not expecting other people to do what I just asked. What the point for that?
Then, I'd better do it myself and not bother anyone.
R: Effect of illuminated capacitive buttons on battery?
Yeah....though i think youre getting a bit...."fixated" (forgive me if the term id too strong but since im not native english speaking i cant think of anything else right noe, just take the general meaning of the word) about these buttons.
Really battery is a big problem for smartphones and the buttons arent that cool, even if they were you still press on the so u cant see them....plus its useless cause nobody cares about your buttons as long as you have that cool 4,8" (at least if i remember well) screen...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
They are just two little led's, they should really harm the battery life by anything really..

[Q] [U] [SOLVED] The Weiredest Brick. Ever. Help!

Okay lets clear some boring stuff out of the way.

I was using my phone fine 7 hours ago. Absoblutely fine. I put it in my pocket and left for School.
about 4 hours ago, at lunchtime, i went on it to check XDA.
But here's the thing.
I pressed the power button. Nothing. I presumed that I had turned it off. So I pressed and held the button to turn it on. No vibration. I wasn't bothered because i thought it had just frozen. So I popped out the battery, and popped it back in. Pressed and held. Nothing. i Covered the dim LED at the side of the camera to see if the battery was dead. No LED at all. THEN i got scared.
I have no idea. None, as to what caused it or what i can do. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Guys!

Drive Link - Full Mirroring

Not sure if anyone has posted this. Anyways I was just wanting to share this cracked version of drive link with full mirroring. I'm using this with my sony xav 601 and works great just a little lag and well not being able to to turn the screen off to conserve power.
Here is the link I found. Not taking credit for that just wanted to share. Seen a few people on youtube saying drive link not working on S4.

It is available in this forum somewhere too, and works great! Only issue I have with it is that I want it to be quiet when I first plug it in. I don't need the update it gives for weather. May have to make a tasker trigger for it.
Anyway, thanks for the link.

I can't go custom I'm on mf3 and don't feel like going through the whole bootstrap thing. For some reason I thought stock ROM had or has fast charge. Correct me if I'm wrong. I do have this car charger from boxwave 3.1amp for iPad and iPhone and it will charge my phone 10% in about 10-15mins. Its wonderful to have.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
On MF3 as well. Safestrap does nothing for the kernel, so USB Fast Charge is a no go for us. You have to keep a stockish kernel designed for the safestrap use. I agree that the lack of charging is an issue as well. One of the causes to that is the screen staying on. There is a solution to that though.

Screen Standby - Needs root, but it can turn off your phone screen but still allow the DriveLink and MirrorLink to show on your HU.
Hello. I have been short the JVC NSx700 series car radio. And the Galasxy S4 with the normal StockRom 4.3 and root. Did the APP DriveLink also from the website which is mentioned above loaded. Runs great, too. Only it's normal extreme jerking the videos? Both online vidoes (youtube) including videos coming from the phone. Are actually not viewable. Is this due to the DriveLink APP or the USB cable, the data can not send data faster?
