Google Play SUCKS!!! google play - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Ok, I finally got google play to run off my second sd card...
(did it by /sdcard2/media/music) - created a media folder and a music folder and dragged everything inside.
But now it is telling me that every song I have "Couldn't play the track you requested"
WTH is this....
The phone is sick, but if I can't use the music player and it doesn't have a removable battery wtf... I should just get the Samsung g3 - atleast ill have a quad core phone... JK too lazy to go through the return policy

Oh, I thought it was quad core my bad... But any way I go I will still have this damn google play issue... I know the songs work bc I ran the files on the temporary player thats built into Astro and the music played....
So it has to be something with the settings... Does anyone know how to fix it and a different apk thats better than this **** ****?
(I do accounting work ft, so i need my music or else i'll go grape ape in this office)

You need to format your SD card. Let Android make the music folder.
I moved my things off the card, Photos & Music into phone storage. Unmount & Erase card. Then move pictures & music back to the SD card & voila. Followed by the other junk.
Settings/Storage
Android 4 needs the music .mp3 files dropped into the root of the music folder it creates.

Lol I was joking. I personally cant stand samsung products. I brought my mom a s2 and gave me hell to root the damn thing. Plus when i tired to edit some things on the rom gave me more hell. Reason put why I purchased the HTC evo lte because I owned the evo 4g, evo view and now the lte. I look @ it I cant go wrong choosing htc products.
Plus they pissed off apple to the point that they sued them for copy write infringement... I love that HTC scared those *******s @ apple.
Plus there are Asian websites that breaks down all HTC products where u can customize the signal receive features if u get what im saying

No Bueno,
Formatted second sd2 card to stock profile and still nothing. It did not even make a music folder or a media folder after the format.
and i actually tried to put the music on the internal memory, giving me the same option. Its saying that my mp3 songs r ringtones and it refuses to play ring tones **********************!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UPDATE-------
I got the music app to work not play music is not working....
Thing with music app it only works when music is on internal sd- wont play everything if on sd-2

Upload the files to google play music and then delete them from the phone ... Then no problems playing them

I finally was able to get my music to play correctly.
Step one: wipe internal memory
Step two: reboot phone
Step three: install everything back in
Lol
My internal memory format was screwed up, I fixed it by a simple wipe
Also I flashed a new Rom too

[Q] Avatar movie wont play

Hello im new to this forum and i have come to a little problem maybe somebody in here might be able to help me with
I by mistake erased the avatar movie, and sure enough the icon would say movie not found, so i used pandora data recovery and was able to recover the movie from the Sd Card to my computer, i then transferred the movie to my phone again, and now the movie just wont play when you click on the icon it just sits there doing nothing i did a factory restore, but that didn't work either, any ideas???????
please let me know if something comes to mind to any of you of how i might be able to make it work.
Thank you in advance
The path of the video might be in different location and icon wont work. You dont need the icon to play movie its just shortcut
Just open video player it should show there
Hi, and thanks for your reply, i just did that, but it says your phone does not have any media files, even tho the movie that i was able to retrieve again is 1.4 gigs, and it wasn't overwritten or anything on the sd card, any ideas? should i transfer it to another folder on the sd card or to the phone???????
Thank you.
Even though you did data recovery the file could be damaged, it should play.
I deleted the avatar shortcut and just access it from video player
Go to a local t mobile they can probably put it back on for you
Yea im going to do that this weekend, i went to a couple of tmobile stores but they had no returns, its weird the data doesn't seem corrupted at all.
Thank you for your help.

doesn't need to be in a folder "movies" it will see it anywhere and you dont need to reboot you just unplug usb from you PC and it will update everything.
I do have a movies folder, just to be organized and after you mentioned that i moved the file to another location and still showed and played fine

What do you mean returns? Just ask them if they can transfer it from the demo display model.
Also this file is DRM protected so when you did data recovery something could have happened with DRM... IDK
ok so im guessing is corrupted since i moved it to the phone video folder and media player finds it but it says 00:00 minutes.

Can't read SD Card?

So I have the 16 GB BBY WiFi-Only Flyer. The ONLY ROM that allows me to read sd card music and photos is Mwakious. Any other ROM, no apps except file managers can read the sd. Any ideas? I have formatted the sd, rebooted, cleared media storage data, cleared caches, etc. I am at a loss. Help, please!
US builds of honeycomb weren't build to read external storage for media (photos, music)
this is rectified in ICS. unfortunately for us we'll have to wait...

Seriuly, that's aperfectly bizarre claim. My Honeycomb Flyer has no trouble reading either of the internal memory partitions or my external SD card. In fact, the external card is where I keep my movies.
Now true, it does take the machine a bit to discover the card on first boot, but it will see it eventually.

I created a folder called Media on my external sd card with subfolders for movies, books, music and pictures and have no problems with the system reading all my files.
I then moved all the books (the free ones that come with honeycomb) to my external Media/Books and rebooted.
At boot I get a notification that books were imported and they now appear in the My Shelf widget.
Now back to the OP problem I would suggest a full wipe and clean install for any Rom.
Of course this means you’ll have to reinstall all your apps and rebuild your home screens.
I would not restore any system data from a backup.
This although not a universal issue, is not an uncommon problem. I have had this happen to me while moving from rom to rom after doing a full wipe. If you search it out there are a couple of threads to this effect. I have always managed to get my media to be visable after some effort. I have wiped caches, cleared app data, created a in.nomedia folder in the music directory, unmounted and mounted sd cards, moved the files from internal to sd, used power amp free trail and played music from there, etc. Eventually something pops.
Now mwakious will see I have 7 songs and my photos. Not all my music or photos. Its not that it hasn't loaded them yet
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
it happens when you do a complete wipe. I have a nandroid backup of when I first flashed globatrons s off method. If I restore that then flash any rom with out a wipe my music files are all visable. If I wipe then flash I have to play games with my media till they are visable but I am always able to get them visable after enough tinkering.
Well, I went to Lee Droid since it's my fav, but still nothing with my sd. I hope I can get it to work. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to post them.
I had the same problem last night with DeSensed-View Version 1.5. (My girlfriend also had similar problems with the stock Honeycomb ROM - part of the reason she wanted me to revert her back to GB.)
I have all of my images stored in internal memory in a folder called "Pictures," and all of my videos in a folder called (gasp) "Videos." When I go into the gallery, it only shows content from the DCIM folder and Picasa/Google+. So I went into ES File Explorer and clicked on a picture... it wouldn't open. Long-press, "Open As," "Image," nothing... didn't open at all. When I click a video, it gives me the option to open with the Gallery app, and that works fine, but the videos never show up in folders in the Gallery app. So basically, I can never view any of the images in a folder other than DCIM, and I have to go through a file explorer to get to my videos. Needless to say, I went back to Gingerbread before the night was through.
Rather frustrating problem...
Just so you guys know, my media still hasn't shown up.
Have you tried moving your media files to your dcm folder?

I highly doubt this is a fix, but do you have download songs wifi only checked? When I unchecked that all my songs were deleted a couple of times. But after a while it started to work again. I dunno but you might want to try changing that and seeing if it fixes it

This is what pissed me off most about this phone.
Solution:
everyones best bet is to do the sd card mount swap.
if u didn't root, this is the biggest reason to. This switches the places of the 10 GB phone storage and your sd card. there are 2 threads about this in our development section. Find my post in either one of the threads and follow the directions.
I am even now so sick of the sd card not getting mounted on boot. But oh well cause I only use that 10 GB for ps1 games now. I decided to fill it with the most useless, replaceable files that took up a lot of space on the sd card.how they partitioned, and handled storage space on this phone is HORRIBLE.
This is the best solution, but u are still going to end up dealing with the 10 GB of space not mounting almost every time u start the phone. But u can just go remount it in settings. And I almost never have to do that cause I filled the space with ps1 games and only have to mount it when I play fpse.
Everything I just said is all over the place but go find the threads in development, I wrote everything much clearer.

Google music on EXTERNAL sd card

I have done some searching around for storing my Google play music on my external sd card instead of the internal memory. Basically from what I have found is your changing the directory path to the external memory. I am somewhat of a noob to this. I tried using this method here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003930
I could not find the cache file with Rom tool box or esfile I also on a side note have had issues with finding zip files at times when I know I put them on the external memory.
So my question is, has anyone tried this and with success?
This method seemed to be the most simple way of doing it.
Also I am on flappjaxxx aosp jb Rom so is the directory different?
In the screen shot for Rom tool box you can see that it is empty and in esfile it is not there.
Am I looking in the wrong spot? Any help our someone's expertise would be amazing!

You are over thinking this...
All you need to do is put the music on the sdcard.. clear data of Google music, reboot and the media scanner will read all storage and tell apps where things are.
As you can see in the pic of Google music, I have a sound file that isn't in my music folder. The media scanner still displays it on the player even though I didn't point it there.
I am not sure how to move it to the external memory if I can't find it. I have tried doing that in the past but Google music wanted to download the music again. I guess I could always download the music to my pc and transfer over. I guess I am not sure how to put new purchased music on the external?

I believe the OP is asking about the technique that forces your cloud-based music to be stored on an external SD when the user "pins" the song for offline access.
You seem the referring to music stored on the SD by other means.

You are correct in that I want my music stored our pinned on the external memory. It would be great if I could do that between flashing different roms. I am in the process of downloading all the music from play and then stick it in a file on the sd and hopefully Google music will find it

i have had alot of issues with binding to external SD to where i had to wipe my SD card, what happens is when you save ur files to the sd card it works, but when u reboot, it appears google music starts 1st before your bind does so it thinks ur files are missing and starts dowloading them to internal and it will corrupt ur ext SD card and u have to wipe it, that is what i have been having issues with, but u may not, best of luck to u.
That is good to know. I ended up downloading my entire library and copying it to the sd card. Google music saw the music as stated earlier, however I did not log into my account because it was wanting to double everything. So it kind of fixes my problem, but I am not sure what to do when I buy new music as I did not see a option to just download a album from music manger.

IMHO, the fact that one can't direct offline music (or the cache for that matter) is a huge design oversight by Google.

[Q] Pretty disgusted

So I'm not sure if this is Samsung's fault or Androids. But I'm very disappointed with the Samsung Note 2 on Verizon, for one MAIN reason. The SD card is 16GB internal which honestly isn't very much. Everything you put on your phone is put onto the internal storage of the device instead of the " optional " SD card slot which I have a 32GB in there. WHY even have this option if you can't use it to put apps on it? My main beef with this is Google Play Music and Video's. Recently Google Play launched the service where it has unlimited streaming etc which is wonderful. Come to find out you can't change the directory of where it's put at. I am Rooted. I have tried beans ROM SD swap which STILL puts the music on the 16gb even though the swap says it did the transfer and I have 32GB free. I have looked for weeks and ran many scripts, use Rom Tool Box Pro and there is just no work around for this that I have found to work on my phone. Heck I even go to sdcard/data/android/come.google.android.music and yeah it has a data and file folder but there is NOTHING even in them, even when I cache my music in Google Play or click the " keep on device " Im so frustrated I don't even know what to do. I bought the new Die Hard movie yesterday which is 3GB and of course it saved it to my internal storage. The reason I wanted it on my phone is because I'm taking a trip to California soon and being a Verizon customer I only have 2GB of Data ( which sucks ) so Yeah. I know this is really my first post and I'm sorry to be ranting and raving but I have no IRL i can vent to about this because they will have NO clue what I am talking about. So besides beating my head on my keyboard, slicing my wrists or throwing the phone away does ANYONE have some good advice on what to do with my whole situation?
Hope everyone has a good memorial day weekend. Thanks All.
I hate this too, but I think both are to blame. I blame Google for no longer allowing us to install apps to the SD card, and for not allowing developers to install additional game content to the SD card. I'm not sure if this is the fault of Samsung, but why did they call the internal memory sdcard instead of internal? Every app that defaults to the external card such as Titanium Backup thinks the internal "sdcard" is actually the sdcard, because I seem to recall that on my Thunderbolt Google Play Music always downloaded songs to the external card.
Having expandable memory is pretty pointless for me, because the only thing I can use it for it TWRP backups, Titanium Backups, Pictures, and manual files that I copy over. I need more memory for apps, app data, and Google Play Music files.
I have my camera setup to save pictures to my SD Card and my music is also saved there and I'm not rooted.
Just checked and Amazon MP3 files are stored on the internal memory.

So you feel my pain geoff5093. If I knew this was going to happen I would of opted to find a "comparable" phome with 32gb internal but then I looked and everything has 16. This is really a remarkable device except for that fact. I think your right about it being both samsung and androids dault. I seem to remember on gingerbread OS you could move apps so I dont know why they would take a step back. Having the SD card on here is about as useless as a turd in a toilet. I doubt 4.2.2 will fix this issue as well. No clue what to do.
Also I came from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which had 32gb internal and no SD and I was happy with that. Blah lol I need a beer!
So any of the apps2sd apps don't work no

The problem is google music and movies.. I cant just simple move the movies I buy or rent on google play to my sd card because the program doeant see them then.. I when I put music on my devie for google play it does the same thing.. Im *****ing because google wants u to buy their movies and music but dont give you a viable solution to store them and 16gb isnt a lot especially when apps and the system take almost have of the disk space. I realize I can take music from my computer and use the usb to transfer music but thats not what im trying to do.
Got it
Okay well with movies bought through Google movies you can download them to do card via wifi once downloaded you can move them to sd of phone would that not accomplish what you want?

After a few unsuccessful attempts to locate where Google stores the files I gave Root Explorer a shot and it works. The music files are stored as mp3s in /data/data/com.google.android.music/files/music and the tracks are renamed (such as 3947.mp3 etc.). I currently have one album pinned on the device, the album has 14 tracks and there are 14 mp3 files in the folder stated above. Now, I expected the tracks to be protected and not playable in other music player apps (or on other devices) but I was kind of hoping that after I move them to my external microSD, Google Play Music would still be able to play those - which is not the case... *sigh
