Hello,
On the Galaxy S III, /sdcard is the internal storage, and the microSD card is located in /mnt/extSdCard.
I want the SD card to be mounted in /sdcard and the internal storage in /intmemory for example. Is it possible ?

I believe this can be done by using custom ROM
It can be done only if rooted but the issue with permission. You wont be able to give (execute read write ) permission to ext sd card.
So nobody's working on it ?

As I was rooting my device, I realized the external microSD card is not the /sdcard and is actually /sdcard2 or /sdcard/ext_sd. I haven't pulled my microSD card to check, but I'm willing to bet its probably blank.
I'd like to have all data saved to my external microSD card versus the internal partitioned memory. Is that possible?
I'm not very familiar with linux. Is it as simple as modifying the vold.fstab so that microsd card is mounted as sdcard? And the internal memory is mounted as /int_sd? Obviously, I'd have to copy all the data from the current /sdcard to /sdcard2 for things to work properly after the edit.
Thanks in advance!
Hello.
I just bought a MicroSD, and saw on ESExplorer that the phone mounts the externalSD inside the sdcard folder /sdcard/external_sd
That way, it thinks I only have 11.5Gb available and everything I put inside my external_sd actually fills the internal memory.
I should have 11.5+8=19.5 but I don't.
Any way to fix this?
Thanks a lot!
I can't believe no one has a Galaxy S2 with an external Sd card!

Settings menu/storage and did you format it there first? Or do you use Kies and what is it using for sending stuff to your memory (Internal or External First?)
In settings/storage do you see both cards? In mine I can see SD card 29.81gb & USB storage 11.5gb.
Yes it shows the external card folder in the internal file explorer. It doesn't mean files are saved on the internal card. It was also like that on the S1 as well.
When you connect to PC in USB mode the PC will show both cards separately.

external_sd is just the mount point. You will only have ~12gb available on your internal memory because the phone uses some memory for the OS. I only have 7.4gb usable on my 8gb external sd. The available memory is always smaller than advertised

I am a bit confused as to how memory/SD/external_sd is defined on this device
Looking at root, I see mnt. IIRC, this is the mounting point for both the internal SD card and the external SD card.
when I plug my phone into my computer I see Internal Storage and Card.
So I have
A: 1GB RAM for OS (/system, /data, etc)
B: 16GB RAM for apps etc.
C: 16GB RAM external SD
I connected my computer to my phone and see two "folders" Internal Storage and SD Card. I put folders with those names in each one so when I open them up on my computer I see a folder called "..internal storage root" and one called .".sd card root"
Internal Storage 10GB B Same a 1) below
SD Card 14.8GB same as 3) below
SD Card/external_sd
From the phone in root explorer
1) /sdcard takes me to the internal storage root 10GB. I imagine that is (B) after the OS reserves 4GB
2) /mnt/sdcard which actually takes me to the internal storage root 10GB. (B?) Same as 1
3) /mnt /external_sd takes me to the SD card root but this is NOT my SD card.
4) /mnt /external_sd /external_sd takes me to SD card, (C)
I also see /storage which has sdcard0 and sdcard1. sdcard0 takes me to the internal storage root. sdcard1 takes me to the sd card root.. However this not my actual SD card.
Now.. without an SD card, sdcard1 is empty and external_sd is empty
,
My question: why, when I put my SD card in, does it show it as having something in it that is not actually on my card?
Sadly, the way android is currently setup... makes me want to throw my phone at someone... literally! I would gladly spend my time in jail for doing it as well! (as long as said person was the one who decided upon doing it this way)
Currently, on the Galaxy Note (and almost all other devices) you have the following:
Out of the internal memory space (which turns out to be about 14.8Gb after base10 or was that base 12... whatever, IDGAF, point is, its not 16GB usable):
2GB: Application and Application Data storage
10GB: Internal Memory on the device mounted as /sdcard* ([email protected]#!$!#@%^#)
And whatever your REAL sdcard is mounted as /external_sd
* /storage/sdcard0 is internal | /storage/sdcard1 is external
calling the internal memory of ANY device an sdcard annoys the piss outta me, as noted above
EDIT: if you have a rom with it included, you can use parted | print to view the partition layout as well as mount points and all that other happy horse carp
Hallo,
For a moth or so my Note runs on a Custom JB ROM.
and today i wanted to install the new TomTom app.
i requires me to download a additional 3.1 GB
but i says that theirs not enough memory available.
that's strange, i just put in a brand new 16gb SD card.
so i checked the storage info.
Internal 1,9GB
internal(second??) 11GB
SD-card 15GB
on default in installs apps on the fist Internal memory,
so if transferred i to SD.
BUT in transferred it to the Second internal memory instead of the SD-card.
so i checked the form and found out that i can change a file to mount de SD as internal,
but than i have 11GB of lost space on my phone,

How this can be done? I would sacrifice only 1.8 GB.

You NEED to have root acces,
-install "Root Explorer"
-Open en go to Root/etc
-Open "vold.fstab" (with Text Editor)
you wil see
#internal SD card
dev mount sdcard0 /storage/sdcard0 11 /devices/platform/......
#extrenal Sdcard
dev mound sdcard1 /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/.....
#internal: if you change the name from sdcard0 to sdcard1,
#extrenal: and on the sdcard1 to sdcard0
and reboot.
now it wil see the real extrenal SD card as a Internal, and its posible to install app on the card
I don't know anything about the 2nd internal storage you have but to directly install anything in the sdcard install link2sd from this link--
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5idWFrLkxpbmsyU0QiXQ..
then go to settings and change download location to external

Thas doen't work.
the problem is that the system and all of the apps sees the second internal memory (11GB) as sdcard0 and if i transfer a app it goes to this one and not the REAL extreme SD card (sdcard1)
I just flashed a new ROM on my galaxy S2 GT-I9100... But the USB storage is not mounting. I have inserted an SD card ( 2GB ) .. But instead of showing the SD card in the external storage, it is showing it in the internal storage. My 16GB internal storage is gone.. How can I mount my SD card to external storage and get back my internal 16GB Storage.... ????

The sd card is mounted as a folder and its shown as a folder in internal memory (that aint a problem since if you copy anything into that folder you are copying into the sd card) , and if you are saying that only the sd card is getting mounted and being used instead of internal memory enable root access for aps and adb in settings - developer options, this will mount internal as /mnt/eMMc and if you want to change the default storage go to storage settings press settings button and change from storage configuration, and please include more information like rom type, os version and many other relevant information if you want people to help.
