You should flash a sbf of your stock version it's the easiest way to get rid of anything

Hi guys!
Asking u to help me with my problem.
I have some problem with touchscreen on my Defy Plus so i've decided to sent it to warranty repair. But i have rooted device and I need to unroot it before sent as u all know and i dont know how to do it.
I have Motorola Defy Plus with rooted official 2.3.6 Android firmware (4.5.1-134_DFP-231). I've rooted it with DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CN_SIGN_UCADEFYEMARAB1B50AA009.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRIRD15_P015_A030_Service1
FF.sbf.gz. For root i used RSDLite5.6 and Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_5.1.0_32bit also i have SuperUser apk and ROM manager apk on phone now. I need to cleen all root files and restores facroty settings only after that i can sent my phone and hope warranty center will not deny repair because i changed firmware.
And 1 more question, will i can root my Defy Plus when it will come back from warranty center?
Best regards!
UPDATE
I've made unroot with z4root.apk from my phone but now have another problem - dont know how to remove SuperUser.apk. Does anyone know how to do it?
UPDATE
Didnt find solution to remove superuser.apk (tried with RootExplorer, RootBrowser, from PlayMarket etc) with unrooted phone so i've made root again, remove superuser.apk through RootExplorer and then flash unrooted firmware, system works normal and i'll send it to service asap.
Hope it'll be helpfull for anyone.

I know that, 'cause i'm an advanced user, my phone isn't rooted, i'm using the official stock rom ICS from Brazil and I can't update via OTA 'cause it gets error.
So, that' s why i'm trying to root to restore a backup made by CWM.
I would like to know if is there anyway to root using the recovery stock from S 3.
So I finnaly can use the CWM and use the mobile Odin Pro.

I'm not certain this would work as this was a exploit back in froyo, but possibly if you included a flashable zip named as update.zip on your SDcard, that is singed and includes a busy box binary that *might* work? Im not certain... this would at least require you to have notepad++ to write a script to call the busy box binary from the native 3e recovery... you'd need to have a zip or archive manager of some description also? So that already knocks this option out of the question. Can i ask why it's needed to not use a PC? If we have more context of what you're trying to achieve along with why specifically you can't use traditional methods that may help members better help answer your questions?
Like i dunno if what I've suggest IS really out of the question? Is it that you don't have a PC what so ever, or you don't have access to one that allows you to install things like drivers to in order to make your phone read to flash using odin?
Have you consider a USB flash drive and portable apps use d down at your local internet cafe?
I need more context buddy

Today I can't use a PC, tomorrow I will, it's just that i would like to do it right now 'cause i've tried to go back to ICS, and tried to update via OTA to JB and because of this i had to unroot my cel.
Unfortunetly i had no success. I don't wannna have to wait untill tomorrow, so i would like to know if is there a diferent way to root only using my cel, not having to use a PC. So I can restore the backup CWM.

Read properly Mister. He wants to restore his nandroid backup and needs the CWM for that.
@OP I've just got my S3 and I've searched quite a lot for rooting and flashing the S3 but haven't found anything that can root from CWM.

I think that's going a communication error here, sorry my english. As I said earlier, I'm an advanced user and know how things work, I'm asking for help to root on s3 without the PC because I have no access at the moment, would like help from you, have any solutions? An alternative method of root?
I need to have root access first and then restore the backup by CWM, there is some kind of update.zip?

That was exactly what I explained to you in my post. I'll try make you an update zip now. I was hours away from home myself yesterday when i posted my reply, so I tried to explain so that you could maybe find one your self. I know exactly what you want to do and why now...i didn't know why without a PC. I can see that now that you don't have access to one so that would be extremely difficult to try to do, hence will try make one now for you
I have my doubts of this working, but we can only try i guess?
Does anyone know of 3e uses edify scripting?
Edit: I have created both for you and 2 x both edify and amend scripts. Try 1 & 2. They have different update binaries.. these will all need to be renamed update.zip and placed on your SDcard and flashed through 3e recovery to work. Even then I'm not even sure that they will work but it is worth a try? They have busybox included but they that is just to support root not to perform all the busybox commands. This doesn't flash a new recovery for you to restore your cwm zip, however you may obtain root access. I didn't have a custom recovery image for i9300 available (only i9305 LTE) and my internet is capped and I'm out of data on my 4G phone. It's the best i could do... I'm uploading very very slowly
Even if you get custom recovery could you please flash these and tell me if they work just to gain root? Thanks. And don't forget to rename to update.zip
Thank you all for the help, did odin by Root. Thank personal

If you were an "advanced user" as you put it, you wouldn't be asking this, because you'd already know it.
- There is no need to root to update ROM
- The Brazilian ROMs are among the worst Samsung has to offer
- If you already have CWM installed, you don't need a PC in order to root. A PC, however, makes things a lot easier (emphasis on "a lot")
- With CWM, just download some kernel like Siyah and flash it. It will give you root.
Stop calling yourself an advanced user, man.

Motorola XT912 and Official CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2) - SMS and Data Problem...

Hello to everyone...
I have a Motorola Droid Razr (XT912) from Verizon. I bought it a few months ago. I live in Argentina.
My carrier is Movistar (a subsidiary from spanish Telefonica).
Stock rom works 100% with no issues at all with my carrier.
I recently flashed CM10.1 Official CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2) without any issues. I'm really happy with it but I have some problems.
First I can't send SMS I'm able to receive but when I try to answer I get an error.
Second my data connection doesn't work at all it never gets connected to my carrier, even though I've entered the correct APN settings.
The rest of the things works perfectly although I'm still testing. I'm eager to switch to this rom for using in a day by day basis.
I'm in position to help sending logs, printscreens o whatever someone needs to anyone who likes to see what's happening. I know this is not common because a lot of users are reporting this things works perfectly in their devices.
Thanks in advance...

I didn't know I could use the UMTS version of that ROM. I use what is supposed to user with my xt912. I think I'll give it a try. I think I'll try to search more on what the differences are just to learn a bit more on cell technology.

Thanks for trying to help this guy - I'm having a similar issue. No data, I've flashed CM's RC1 and RC2 - love it btw, night and day compared to pre-root. I haven't tried to flash a baseband, don't want to mess anything up - is there a source for these? I'm CDMA/LTE - not GSM. Every time I see this posted, there doesn't seem to be a resolution - I'm hoping I can find something here.
thanks.

I'm having the same issue but my carrier is Personal. I can send sms but no data connection at all either. I was facing this problem since I tried to migrate to JB. I installed a lot of custom roms (carbon, aokp, cm, liquidsmooth, avatar, so on...). The main issue is regarding to 4.2.2 version bacause previously I was using aokp based on ics and it worked like a charm. 4.1.2 branch works great too. If I can give you an advice...try to install a stock jb rom until we can find a real solution. I'm using right now "breakneck blur r7". The only problem is a very low signal.
Thank you guys for trying to help us. I did know it wasn't for our region but it was cheaper xD.

I've tried liquid smooth UMTS, that resolve SMS but DATA didn't work at all. Right now I'm testing CM10.1 RC1 UMTS and SMS is working but still no DATA.
I think it has something to do with some hardware parameters that is being used in some way for other carriers and here we need different values to work DATA. Anyway I will continue to look for solution and testing some other ROMs.
Anyway THK to all who try to help.

Let me know if you have lucky!. I tried everything...including seversal gsm patches. We should compare configs between 4.1.2 roms and 4.2.2 because earlier releases used to work. Maybe some guru could light us with a magical solution .
If someone find a solution is the winner of a fernet bottle and a coke LOL.

jajajaj!!! Very true... It will be nice to get a new bottle of fernet branca.
Anyway I cannot find any lead to a post/webpage about baseband for our device nor I can't find anything about to anything explaining some configuration or how to find/read/interpret logs for radio and try to see why cannot get data connection working properly.
I'm doing some investigation on free time which is not much so I'm a bit slow on doing some progress. I will post my findings when some positive progress has been made.

Hello neo.ank, first of all, let me thank you for taking time on read my post.
That's right. I'm using my xt912 outside US on a GSM carrier.
I've just attached a screenshot of my Phone Info scree (that one you get when you press *#*#4636#*#*), I've taken the screenshot with my phone using the stock ROM so you can see everything working.
If you need anything else let me know.

ok,so about your problem.
The thing is that if you use any stock, or stock based ROM, you can use it on any gsm provider.
However if you try to use any AOSP based ROM (such as CM10.1),they does not comply with the dual capabilities of the phone.
There are some gsm patches and build.prop tweaks etc. but none of them works fully.
Some might kill your data, some might kill your camera or flashlight and stuff like that.
So your best bet for now is to stick with the stock/stock based ROMs.

ok,so about your problem.
The thing is that if you use any stock, or stock based ROM, you can use it on any gsm provider.

Tkanks for your advice. I know testing new ROMs can give you some troubles but I love to test new things like this. Can you point me to some place to read about those GSM patches even though I know I will probably lost some functionality I'd like to give a try.
Again, TKS!!!

Vibrant boot loop, will I loose files by resetting?

I know it is a noob question but please help me out.
I got a Samsung Vibrant running ICS Passion. Recently went into the boot loop.
One of the solutions that I found here on XDA asks me to reset back to Eclair.
Will I loose my pics and files?
And if you know a better fix to this, please share it with me.
Thanks in advance,
Bikram

You can probably just boot into recovery mode and wipe data/factory reset to fix the bootloop. But no you will not lose your pictures, music or anything like that by flashing to stock. You will lose your apps and saved settings obviously. I would highly recommend not ever flashing an ICS ROM again though, you will get the EU bug (renders internal sd card useless) eventually and then you will lose your pictures/files forever. Jelly bean roms are very stable nowadays, I would go ahead and upgrade to JB if you like ICS roms, no risk of EU bug on jelly bean, plus ICS passion is way outdated and has no support anymore.

You are going to have to wipe and install a rom of some kind. Simply wiping data will just continue the bootloop. Yes you will lose your settings preferences etc. If the latter doesn't work use odin. Odin will always fix a softbrick which is what you possibly are facing.

you must read the post above you. Says that not have nothing of developing even.... and you must write in english.
I read this forums for a long long time, I never wrote or ask anything mainly because there is so many information on this forums that actually (if you read) you don't need to ask anything.
I will attempt to make my 1st room with this phone (LG-P714 aka L7X) because I have it, I like it and I remember many ppl asking for it.
Btw thx XDA for all this years

like you said ,"if you read",now the question is ,how are you going to make a rom without a proper CWM recovery?

Yeah you are right there is no proper CWM for this model (far as I know) but I already install a CWM what doesn't work in the right way but I was able to backup my original rom and restore it when I made something wrong with my mods so at least is functional

It seems that the random loops happens if you play with cache and other stuff only, for backup and restore works fine. I guess we was using the same files, prolly will be a trouble when we attemp to install the new room cause we cannot clean cache etc etc but so far on my test is working fine and as long I don't use anything else than restore and backup on CWM works fine.
I using gscript in order to make work CWM

i did not used CWM recovery, for anything, didnt use the wipe cache or anything, after exiting CWM recovery, bootloops strated until i got stucked in the logo.
So even if you are using the one for the p715,in the same thread they say that its unstable and does not worth the risk,i hope you can find another way to make a CWM recovery for this model, cause the one thing thats holding me back its that the booloader its locked.

I will test it for some time more, so far for me on the 714 I have no bootloops for almost 1 week so far in the middle of that I already make 2 backups and 5 restores w/o a single trouble.

the one from january, and im about to upgrade to the latest one,now i see why you can use CWM recovery, well that faulty recovery, casue its upside down and you cant use all its functions, you may probably wait until a stable CWm recovery is out and for this model. thanks.

Yeah its upside down screen jumps each time you select another option but works so far still no problems at all. As I see prolly an stable version specific for this model will never come as is not a popular model this was sold only on a few countries as I know

[Q] Alcatel Onetouch Pop Astro? (5042T)

I have been coming to this site for a very long time, was a huge CM user back when I had the HTC G2. I hope I posted this in the right section, as I havent really made my own posts before here, so if not im truly sorry and hope it can be placed in the right section without punishment .
Now Ive done a alot of searching here about this device and unless im doing something wrong, I cant seem to find much at all on it. It was released april of this year I guess, but I just recently aquired one, which comes with stock 4.4.4 (KitKat). I have rooted this device successfully, but I am unable to find any custom recovery (unsure if CWM or TWRP will work, a little nervous about trying to install and mess the device up lol) that would work on this device, much less any custom roms or anything at all on XDA. I'm actually suprised that there isn't a Thread dedicated to this device as its actually very nice.
So anyway, I was just hoping maybe someone involved with development on this site could possibly look into this device and maybe this device could get some attention and maybe some community support so some custom stuff could start coming out for it? Its a nice device and would love to see it have its own section here at XDA, thats all .
Anyway, sorry to bore everyone with this thread, just trying to bring the Alcatel Onetouch Pop Astro to the light here is all.
Thanks! [emoji6]

A3FUMF0 is known to block root. Tried using Kingroot a couple of times with different versions, didn't work for me.
Yes, you need to downgrade, but the only way that I know of (I also created an article of this) is flashing a factory image to the phone directly. Just keep in mind of this before flashing because it is hard to recover if you don't do this and you will have a bricked phone as an outcome:
XCore64 said:
Before you start, if you have access to the phone, be sure to:
• Remove your Google account
• Take off your lock screen password/PIN/pattern
• Uncheck “Protect Your Phone” from Settings > Security
• Deactivate all device administrators from Settings > Security (Optional; Just to be safe)

Okay, I did everything that was said and now I am on A3CUMC1 4.4.4 and I tried Kingroot and I think it worked...
Awesome, thanks, just used Kingroot root checker and it's rooted, much appreciated.
One more quick question, what steps did you take after you rooted your astro?
Any custom roms/recoveries that are usable?

Sadly, there isn't any custom ROMs/recoveries available for the OneTouch Pop Astro
After I rooted my Astro, I installed some root apps (Titanium Backup is one example) and Viper4Android. That's pretty much what I use with root on this phone.

Warning - secureboot ahead
Heads up for anyone wanting to develop for this device - Had one of these with a broken screen I was about to toss, so I tried to see if there was any chance of getting anywhere with flashing. Nope, Error 100 , unauthorized firmware and device seems to be bricked.
onetouch pop root
ok so yea i had to run kingroot on the pc and kingroot oneclick root app several times before it would properly take root.you may have to keep clearing the cache data on the app and make sure developer mode and oem unlock are checked.cant guerentee those both are requirements ,or that its a safe stable way to root eitheir bc when i finally got mine to take root it turned off and froze like it was hard bricked for a while but after removing and installing the battery back a few times it turned back on and was confirmed to be properly rooted by the root checker app from the app store even though i dont think the rooting app said it was sucsessfully 100% completed. hope it helps good luck..

rooted this phone with kingroot then installed x-posed. Tried several methods to switch to supersu, succeeded with the method #2 on droidmen . All the modules I've tried work flawlessly.
Anyone know of a custom kernel for this phone?
