Hi, I'd like to know if there is a way to disable face recognition on the file explorer because every time I'm opening a pic with a face in it a yellow box is appearing. Is there a way to turn this feature. Thanks
edit: nvm found it, menu key on a pic -> face tag.

Does anybody else have an issue with swype?
Sometimes, if i try to delete a word, it will delete it until there is one letter left, then it just creates a word, making it impossible to delete it fully. Ie, there is only a w left, it creates we 3 times, i can delete it back to w but it creates we 3 more times, endlessly
I have had to completely disable the word suggestions and auto fix.

I have a few questions that I need hello with being a new S3 user please. I'm coming from a Sensation XE that was on v4.0.4
1) If I don't have any security set, eg pattern lock, then if I get a message or missed call I get an icon on screen, I can drag this to open message. If the lock screen is set I don't get that. On my XE if I had pattern lock on, I still had option of dragging icon, then entering pattern, then it opened the messages, now please?
2) In email app I have 3 email accounts. However when I open it always goes to a version mail inbox, I want it to goto the combined inbox. How?
3) Anyway to make the font smaller in email? I've reduced the font in settings but email app still shows too big for me.
4) I know there are other keyboards but can you add extra symbols on the letter keys in the inbuilt swype one?
5) How can you get double tap to zoom in and reflow the text on the inbuilt internet app.
I will add more as I use it, thanks for any help. Loving the phone though
Anyone?
1) it would appear in your notif bar.. if u set a pattern unlock, obviously u wont be able to read your message or wats the point of leaving a security pattern then..
2)and 3) dont think you can do it..maybe use another email client from the playstore
4)..never used skype..so dont know..
5)you cant do text reflow in the stock browser..guess samsung wanted it to remain smooth than to give it text reflow..use dolphin browser or opera for this..
2.
Just tap on the box that gives the account name at top of screen. See screenshot.
5.
I don't think reflow works at all on the stock Rom

Yeah I still tap on the box for email and chose combined inbox but I want it to start at this one by default.
The seeing for having a pattern lock and notifications on your lock screen is in settings> security outta not selected but default
For me it stays on the combined inbox by default.

Wonder why mine doesn't then. Everytime I open it goes to the 2nd email account which its strange
Perhaps it something to do with sync? I don't use auto sync. Perhaps in your case it defaults to an account you have set to auto sync?

I've set them all to not check periodically. I open up email app and then hit the refresh button to check for emails...
Hi, if the media volume is up, regardless of if the phones on silent or not, zooming out to edit all home screens prompts a voice saying 'open home screen edit' .its really annoying and will get embarrassing in various situations! How do I turn this off?
Cheers

1. Disable "talkback" in the accessibility settings.
2. If this isn't enabled you probably have an app called "light flow" installed. There's a bug in ice cream sandwich which causes this error and you'll need to uninstall light flow until it's fixed.

Just to add, I had this problem with lights only when accessibility was checked for lightflow in settings. I also have it when tasker accessibility is checked. When they are both set to off, the voices stop.
Now to get rid of the ones in my head

Hi guys, I got this phone yesterday and I'm freaking loving it. The first Android phone that I can actually compare to my iPhone 5. I was wondering is there any way to lower down the brightness when your taking a picture? For some odd reason every time I go into the camera app the brightness goes all the way up.

Pretty sure that's a built in "feature" that allows your viewfinder to be as accurate as possible under all lighting conditions.
If you really can't stand it, you can give Tasker a shot. I have Tasker do this for Gallery/other camera apps so that videos and pictures are more pleasing to view.
Can you elaborate more on the Tasker app? I've never used that.

It's an app that lets you set certain conditions and when those conditions are met it will cause something else to happen that you have preset.

So I can set the brightness leven for when I open the camera app y doesn't go all the way up?

I don't know that specifically I'm just giving you a brief overview of what gasket does. It's a free app though, I think.

It's not a free app. You can get it on the play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
If you decide to get it, it's a very powerful tool, especially for non-rooted users. You can program anything to basically do anything. For me, I have it turn down the brightness whenever it senses that the camera is launched.

1. Hit the plus button on the bottom right
2. Hit "Application"
3. Select "Camera" from the list of applications and hit back
4. Hit "New Task"
5. Enter a task name or just hit the check mark if you don't want to name it
6. Hit the plus on the bottom
7. Hit "Display"
8. Hit "Auto Brightness"
9. Under "Set", select "Off" and hit back
10. Hit the plus on the bottom again
11. Hit "Display" again
12. Hit "Display Brightness"
13. Drag the slider to the level you want and hit back
14. Hit back again
That should be it. If you want it to turn auto brightness back on after you exit camera, just press and hold the green arrow, select "add exit task" and just do the same thing (go into display>auto brightness>on)
Weird...it didn't work for me. There must be an overriding feature in the camera code that prevents this. Let me play around with it some more.
--edit-- Anyone else got a clue? Any sort of tasker script I write, the camera will flicker for a bit, but the app will inevitably override the settings tasker applies.
Yeah just tried and like you said it doesn't work

When I get a new text message, the screen shows the message screen instead of the standard clock lock screen (or dashclock). I'd rather it not do this at all, but it does. When I touch the message prompt, it dims and shows a blank box underneath the message prompt. Anyone else see this? Is this how it's supposed to work?
I've been wondering the same thing. Anyone?

When you touch the message and the box underneath it appears, you swipe on the box to unlock straight to that message
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks. That's what I thought. It just seems weird because sometimes it acts the way you describe to use it, and other times it unlocks straight to the message when I touch the message icon.
If you pull down on the message it opens up the lock screen widget edit mode. If you click on the message in this mode it goes directly to it. If you simply press it while not in edit mode you have to do the unlock swipe in the separate box. I don't really care for this notification I would much rather have dashclock display my message but haven't seen any way to disable or mod the sms notification.

Dude! Thank you!! That has been bugging the crap out of me since I got the phone.
if you have messages from lets say 2 people is there a way to pick one of those from the lock screen to answer first?
