sprint optimizer will find and use wifi when it can to help with battery life.
turn it off if you want to control that.
Settings -> more settings -> mobile networks -> automatic connections

Sorry been looking on how to do it for forever, but can't seem to find it. I om on the tethering plan and already used up my 4 gigs of data so I am close to over using my internet data. How do I turn off the internet, without turning off the actual phone service (like texting and calling).
Thanks!!!!

That could be the problem, you may need to freeze the tethering manager .apk in titanium backup before attempting to tether. Terry that first then let us know if that worked.

If you remove the Tether Provisioning it and try to enable hotspot, Settings crashes

Yes you can.
Settings > Back up and reset > Collect diagnostics > Uncheck
First thing I did, haha.
Ran supercurio's carrier IQ detector. It says the software is there but it seems to be inactive.
Edit: Thanks CitrixLemon. Didn't know it could be disabled.

There are security/privacy concerns plus extra drain on battery. Google Carrier IQ

I tried 2 profiles so far and they both don't work. The "lockscreen off when connected to certain wifi" and the "turn wifi on when near a specific cell tower". I follow video guides for both, and they're simple enough, that I don't believe I made any mistakes. Yet, they're not working.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I need to enable first?
Did our install secure setting and it's helper?

works great on my GS4. It may help if you elaborate on what exactly isnt working. did you update the profile with your SSID?
You need to install secure settings plugin from play store.
I currently have tasker setup to disable my pin lock when connected to my home network

I created a profile in tasker. This should work but I have not tested it.
You will need to import the project.
- press/hold home button in tasked
- click import: pattern
- click untrusted
- not WiFi connected
- ssid: "input wireless network name"
- click trusted
- not WiFi connected
- ssid : "Input wireless network name"
- turn both profiles on
Hope that works

Have you tried Llama? It's a more powerful app.

Hmm. I'll have to look into that one. But I use Automateit instead. So far I really like it, I feel it's got a more user friendly interface than tasker, but my only complaint is that when I set it to silence my phone at work, and at the end of the day it sets the volume back, text messages are still silent, so it takes a reboot to get it back. So I just set it to reboot 1 minute after the sound is set to turn back on.

I'm sorry, but Llama is in no way more powerful.
It may be easier to use, but as far as power goes, Tasker has much more. It has the ability to do more things based on more "states".

I've searched and the similar threads seem different and don't work with this phone. I turn off Wifi and not long after its on again. I've gone into the Wifi settings and turned everything relevant off but it's still happening. Anyone know wtf?

Sounds like Connection optimizer is on.

Are you rooted? I was on frezza's beast mode kernel, all versions seemed to not allow wifi to shut off. Also had problems staying connected to my home wifi. Now I'm not saying the kernel is the problem but when I restored the stock kernel everything works again. Haven't posted in the developers forum but also haven't seen anyone in there with the same issue.

Yep, go to Settings > Connections tab > More networks > Mobile networks > Connections optimizer to turn it off.
