Here we have the Xperia Play port of the official ICS ROM from Sony!
Thanks go to expeacer & kamarush for their mini pro port which this is based on.
It is still a work in progress.. network signal is not working just yet.
Everything else does work to my knowledge..
Please post any bugs you have.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. FLASH SONY ICS BETA USING FASTBOOT (SYSTEM.IMG + USERDATA.IMG)
2. FLASH DOOMKERNEL ICS v2
3. FLASH .70 BASEBAND USING FLASHTOOL
4. INSTALL .ZIP FROM SD CARD
5. REBOOT & ENJOY
(FIRST BOOT TAKES AROUND 10MINS!!)
___________________________________________________________________
DOWNLOAD ROM:http://www.sendspace.com/file/4f8b2f
USE DOOMKERNEL FOR ICS BETA:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573184
You have to use the .70 baseband - flash this FTF with flashtool:http://www.wuala.com/ExPeacer/4.1.A.0.562/XPERIA_2011_4.1.A.0.562_Baseband.ftf
Previous basebands such as -36 or -64 will NOT work.
I will work on this more over the weekend.
If anyone can get signal working please let me know,
I think its a problem with the .70 baseband
Click thanks if you like it!
Hi Pricey,
This is great to see so many developers working on various ROMS.
Can you let us know what differences would it be compared to ICS++, DarkForest, KA12?
I know this is not a rite one because each has it's own customization, my question is whether it is geared towards High performance gaming or good eye candy...

If he got it from the arc then it certainly is NOT the same rom Sony will be giving us. I was under the impression that Sony was making plenty of PLAY specific tweaks to ICS to make using the control pad and playing games just as smooth as gingerbread.
Its a port from the xperia mini pro..
Thanks to expeacer & kamarush for their port
Im waiting. What time will be ready this rom ? (Sorry for bad english )

Obviously the final version will be more optimized for the play but this should be good enough until its released

Well no, because it has a different CPU, GPU and chipset. You can only flash an Xperia T ROM if someone has actually ported it, but I don't think that would be very easy. We have loads of great ROMs and I can't see what we're lacking that the Xperai T devs have?

Chill mate. Everyone has likes and dislikes. Personal opinions. There's no such thing as the best rom. Most good devs never claim my Rom is the best. They just put forward their work. People who like it, use it. Those who don't like it, use something else. Let's keep this friendly and not create wars over which Rom is the best. The best rom for "you" is whatever the hell "you" like.

Building on what @Smartid said, manufacturers have details of what hardware components they are using in building the phone, its benefits and limitations. This provides them with in-depth data to create roms that fully utilise the capabilities of the components while remaining within the limitations imparted by the hardware (for example heat generation). As a result, such roms are stable for the specific hardware they were created for. However, poor quality control, incomplete component data, differing design principles etc., can contribute towards differences within the various parts of the rom itself, which can sometimes drastically increase instability and general buggy-ness of the stock rom.
Roms created by devs are usually modified forms of the stock rom for that phone, or of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code. As such, the devs are working with what the manufacturer or AOSP has provided them. The devs usually don't have all the hardware details that the manufacturers have, which is why they have to work by the trial and error system to work out bugs and kinks, something that the general users deems as "instability" but which, in reality, is just a phase of the rom development (the users get to play with dev roms during the development of the said rom, unlike stock roms which are released only when completed). That being said, many matured dev roms are far more stable and efficient than the stock manufacturer rom due to modifications and optimisations introduced by the devs over a lengthy period of testing.

I have had a look at porting MIUI to the Ultra but I cant find a suitable base so far. I'll see if I can find a stable build of cm 10.1 but I wouldn't hold my breath - it needs a 4.2 base and the ones I've tried have thrown hundreds of patching errors...
With the lack of development for this device I would say no.

There's no point in developing a ROM that one or two people will use. Why spend any energy on it? It's fine if the dev ports it for himself and then decides to release it, but don't expect any MIUI release soon.

It might be easier when they update it to work on a 4.4 base, as of now I've put it in the too much trouble for the effort pile
If u really miss Miui Interface like me, there is Official Launcher in Playstore called " Mi Launcher". It's really stable and working so smooth for me
Few people use xperia z ultra,so developers can't pay attention to it.If you really want to get it,you can use Launcher t

Are they still using 4.2 as base? I was under the impression that V5 should be at least 4.3 and you could use CM10 Togari proprietary files to build.
I would love to have this rom for the Z Ultra. This is such a good phone, i dont know why only a few people has it, too bad.
