Bcoz......stock roms r made by a team....or group of people....who make the software...stable..fast fluid... So that their product can compete..they are always bugs free
While custom roms r made by dev's... Who always do a grt.. Job but..... Fails to make it stable or fluid or bug free...!

Building on what @Smartid said, manufacturers have details of what hardware components they are using in building the phone, its benefits and limitations. This provides them with in-depth data to create roms that fully utilise the capabilities of the components while remaining within the limitations imparted by the hardware (for example heat generation). As a result, such roms are stable for the specific hardware they were created for. However, poor quality control, incomplete component data, differing design principles etc., can contribute towards differences within the various parts of the rom itself, which can sometimes drastically increase instability and general buggy-ness of the stock rom.
Roms created by devs are usually modified forms of the stock rom for that phone, or of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code. As such, the devs are working with what the manufacturer or AOSP has provided them. The devs usually don't have all the hardware details that the manufacturers have, which is why they have to work by the trial and error system to work out bugs and kinks, something that the general users deems as "instability" but which, in reality, is just a phase of the rom development (the users get to play with dev roms during the development of the said rom, unlike stock roms which are released only when completed). That being said, many matured dev roms are far more stable and efficient than the stock manufacturer rom due to modifications and optimisations introduced by the devs over a lengthy period of testing.

Here we have the Xperia Play port of the official ICS ROM from Sony!
Thanks go to expeacer & kamarush for their mini pro port which this is based on.
It is still a work in progress.. network signal is not working just yet.
Everything else does work to my knowledge..
Please post any bugs you have.

1. FLASH SONY ICS BETA USING FASTBOOT (SYSTEM.IMG + USERDATA.IMG)
2. FLASH DOOMKERNEL ICS v2
3. FLASH .70 BASEBAND USING FLASHTOOL
4. INSTALL .ZIP FROM SD CARD
5. REBOOT & ENJOY
(FIRST BOOT TAKES AROUND 10MINS!!)

DOWNLOAD ROM:http://www.sendspace.com/file/4f8b2f
USE DOOMKERNEL FOR ICS BETA:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573184
You have to use the .70 baseband - flash this FTF with flashtool:http://www.wuala.com/ExPeacer/4.1.A.0.562/XPERIA_2011_4.1.A.0.562_Baseband.ftf
Previous basebands such as -36 or -64 will NOT work.
I will work on this more over the weekend.
If anyone can get signal working please let me know,
I think its a problem with the .70 baseband
Click thanks if you like it!
Hi Pricey,
This is great to see so many developers working on various ROMS.
Can you let us know what differences would it be compared to ICS++, DarkForest, KA12?
I know this is not a rite one because each has it's own customization, my question is whether it is geared towards High performance gaming or good eye candy...

If he got it from the arc then it certainly is NOT the same rom Sony will be giving us. I was under the impression that Sony was making plenty of PLAY specific tweaks to ICS to make using the control pad and playing games just as smooth as gingerbread.
Its a port from the xperia mini pro..
Thanks to expeacer & kamarush for their port
Im waiting. What time will be ready this rom ? (Sorry for bad english )

Well actually they drop their devices, like they did with x8 its got only 2.1 official firmware, but since Xperia U is anew device we will get ICS and in nearls future i hope JB. Sony is slow with their updates but they dont like other manufacturers, they did their updates unique and smooth like butter and tottaly different from others and for that they need some time
I remember the x8, I still have 2 of them. Both run bug free 2.3 overclocked and they never give any problems. I would have enjoyed the phone a lot less if it were not for the amazing devs over there, stock 2.1 is very limited and boring. I hope sony dont forget about the U and deny us JB. @dsaklein its nice to see a familiar name around here, x8 was getting a little old.

I hope we will get JB official update, but on the other hand we will get CM 10 with JB and by the time official JB update comes we will have tons of custom firmwares and kernels to choose, so it wouldn't be such a problem.

That's buxxxxit! Sorry for the language (and I'm talking about Sony's statement!). Mobiles like Xperia J, or L has the same resolution as U but they got JB. My last hope is in FXP or even Sony releasing (after almost a year) a free-bug and speedy ICS release!

This is what sony says
Hi,
I understand your frustration. Believe me when I say we have really tried this. One difference of Xperia U and Xperia go is the screen resolution. This comes into play when in relation to RAM in the device. Xperia J is on another platform and Xperia E has the same resolution as Xperia go.
In the tests we made we felt that the user experience wasn’t good enough with Jelly Bean in relations to the few new features in that upgrade on some of the phones.
So there is a pattern in the update strategy. I’m truly sorry if this makes you like Sony a little bit less.

Thanks. As I've said previously, my only hope is the FreeXperia Team or a Sony ICS stock firmware at least decent (I'm on .54 and it feels laggy!). I'll wait to see if this .100 changes something for the better.
Open source archive is not changed as it was with .89 firmwire... so, it might be more reworked firmware
If anyone need link to open source archive 6.1.1.b.1.89 source
Hope this update....fixes
