Juopunutbear S-OFF WARNING - HTC EVO 3D

Just wanted to to let all the people who are flashing there EVO 3D to boost and you do the Juopunutbear S-OFF method you will i repeat YOU WILL HAVE TO REFLASH IT TO BOOST MOBILE ask me how i know so dont do it if you can not flash it by yourself thanks for looking any questions just ask.

Yeah I experienced that when I did it Probably because it writes over your HBOOT, not 100% sure why it undoes the flash though, luckily I had flashed it myself anyway so it wasn't difficult to flash back. Funny enough one of the reasons I didn't do the downgrade to 1.4 method was because I didn't want to have to flash again

whats boost?

Boost Mobile, several people flash phones to Boost Mobile rather than using Sprint www.boostmobile.com

Have any of you installed the bootloader they offer after unlocking the bootloader?
If so, are you having issues with 3G?
I did and it Hands Free Activates and then 3G looks like its good, and then drops out comes back and then drops out entirely.

I don't think the bootloadr has anything to do with your issue.

Just backup your carrier settings! I wrote a tutorial on how to do it using QPST and QXDM. There's a link to it in closeone's HBOOT downgrader tool thread located stickied in the cdma dev section.
Hope this helps!

You can but that would defeat the whole purpose of upgrading. All you would get is the radios and hboot and recovery.
Possible, but doesn't really make sense.

True. But it would make more sense to just update all the stuff.

most of the ROMs using to lasts RUUs
thats why its upgrading is needed
If you're s-off, the latest radio/firmware is posted in the firmware thread in the dev section, just follow the directions there..

If he's just gonna turn around and put a rom on his phone, no real need to flash /system if it's just gonna be wiped.

True, but there's less of a chance of something going wrong/bricking if you don't mess with the RUU. Flashing independent hboots can also cause problems if you get a bad download (very rare but possible)
This is what I have in the development section
Exactly for this purpose

[Q] 2 Quick Questions: New Unlock Token and Global SIM?

So I bought a used Rezzy and it was shipped to me with the custom ROM on it. I want to relock and run the global RUU. I have the unlock token from my original phone but not one for this "new" phone. Do I have to be relocked to get one or can I get a token while the phone is unlocked? If I need to be relocked, can I run it before running the RUU?
I just don't want to get stuck on the RUU unable to get the unlock token as I've read several posts where the site was down when people wanted a token.
Global question: Once we have the global option on the phone, do we need to purchase a SIM at the location we travel to to use it? Not sure exactly how this global thing works.
TIA
I see no problem at least attempting to get the unlocktoken with an unlocked boot loader, it just searches for the lines of text, nothings being flashed or anything like that.. if it doesn't work you'll have to lock your bootloader and ten try again.. I personally havent had anybody ever have a problem getting it.. as for the ruu you need to be relocked to run it if your still s-on..

And for the global capabilities you'll need a Rom that's global capable and a sim from whatever network your trying to gain acces with , someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe the Verizon sim only operatesin CDMA..

Yeah, I didn't want to just try it without knowing just in case. Perhaps I will, or I'll just back everything up and run the damn RUU and get it over with! Yeah, I've been through all the unlocking, relocking, RUUing etc. in the past. That's why I was asking about the unlock token.
So, I buy a SIM when I get to another country so I can use a carrier there? Where do the minutes and data come from? Do you buy a prepaid thing for that country? I don't have any immediate plans to travel but I did have a dream that I was in France last night so....

[Q] Possible to Root after taking OTA Update?

I recently had a 4g LTE tower put in near my house. It's amazing.
I no longer want to pay $75 a month for DSL internet that is 6mbs Download /1Mbs Upload, especially considering my phone now gets 20Mbs/5Mbs
So I have the OTA update (mistake).
What can I do to get Wifi Tether to work without subscription?
What can I do to possibly unlock my phone?
I would gladly donate to anyone that could help. You would be saving me a lot of money. Money which would be heading your way for what ever shenanigans you can muster.
Thanks

If you had supercid with 1's or 2's prior to the update yes it is possible. Otherwise I think you can still get s-off if you ruu back to the 1.0.0 version. Just unlocking the bootloader is def possible as I did it myself. Search the threads to find out how to unlock , if I find it I will post the link

You cannot RUU backwards, without s-off.
You cannot s-off without unlock.
You cannot unlock without superCID.
You cannot get superCID if you're on the OTA.

The reason you can't do anything on the ota is because you can't supercid on it. Everything else requires supercid. Ao if you have taken the ota and didn't do supercid beforehand then you are sol.

You need to flash a stock ICS based ROM
If you want to flash anything else you must get s off and change your hboot first

Hey thanks for the reply, the whole idea behind 4ext was to work around S-OFF!!. I've recovered from previous situation and running Negalite Blurom on hboot 1.58, which I've read also runs on hboot 1.49, I'm wondering if pac man ROM will do the the same??...... Thanks. Thanks for getting back to me bro.

PAC man needs 1.50 or lower
As far I know there is no way to flash anything other than ICS roms with s on.
The wire trick is not hard at all, if you flashed 4ext, you will be able to do it...
It may take a couple attempts but you'll get it

Just to clarify
Hboot 1.57 and 1.58 are for ICS
Hboot 1.50 and below will work for everything else
Some ICS ROMs will work with 1.50 and under, but there are no jb or kk ROMs that work with 1.57/1.58
Sent from my Evo V 4G using XDA Free mobile app
coherent answers finally!!
Hey, just wanna thank you for the clarity bro.............that was such a simple, straight forward response, and it made the world of custom roms easily understandable!!! I had started to suspect that only ICS would work at my hboot, but you brought it home.........thanks again.

[Q] S-Off needed for conversion to developer mode?

Hi guys, I've been following a few guides on how to convert my AT&T HTC One M8 into the developer edition.
I've unlocked my bootloader, installed TWRP and rooted it, but can't S-off (b/c firewater no longer exists).
Before I take the plunge and buy sunshine, I want to ask: Do I absolutely need s-off to convert it to the dev. edition? I mostly just want OTA updates direct from HTC.
Thanks!
Yes S-OFF is needed to change your "cid" and "mid" so you can except the updates. Although I believe At&t mid is the same as Dev edition.

Good to know, thanks. How can I verify that my CID actually changed? I didn't see it written in the fast boot menu or elsewhere. Also, I read that getting s-off should get rid of the "tampered" marker from my phone. Is that true?
Fastboot oem readcid
,S-OFF will allow you to flash the no tampered flag zip for sure
See the second line of green lettering "CID" *******
I jus converted my AT&T HTC M8 to Developer Edition last night.
I was unlocked Bootloader via HTC Dev website and rooted. I went to root ninja website download the sunshine app installed ran payed the $25 and phone rebooted s-off.
Then I put phone in fastboot usb mode then rewrite my Cid to 111111. Then I downloaded the Developer Edition RUU and connected phone to pc and ran the RUU and once it rebooted I was fully converted to Developer Edition M8.

Then I rebooted into fastboot mode and flashed TWRP Recovery back then rebooted into recovery and flashed superSU update then booted phone and went to Google Play and download superSU app and that's it.

The best thing I noticed about the Developer Edition is no more write pertection to system. So no more worries about having wp_module

Then next go here and download the Developer Edition RUU http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2884777
Once you do that you're phone will now be HTC M8 Developer Edition
