AFAIK the Xperia S was highly criticized for having a weak battery life. Has it been improved after the update?

BTW:i use battery calibration from NEMA :https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration and battery life it ok
PS:your phone must be rooted
Sounds great.
My XperiaS has been excellent so far on GB, great battery time and no problems whatsoever...:victory:
So I'm rather nervous that this update could bring some problems and bad battery time.
Guess I have to bite the bullet and try it out as soon as I can.
W.Z.
Would not say GB had a weak battery. I could go 12-36 hours depending on the usage.
How ICS are is to early for me to say with only a few charges. Once I get back to normal usage in a few days I can get a better view on how the life of the battery are.
Since the release the battery have run dry within 12 hours, but I have also used it alot.

On .75 GB left to its own devices my XS does 1% every 2 hours 50 minutes. No matter what OS you are using if you have the screen on, WiFi on, 3G on, Bluetooth on any handset is going to start munching batteries faster than a fast thing on fast day.

After I updated to Nordic 2.1 and used v002 optimizer, I noticed I was getting awesome battery life. For the past few days I've used my phone minimally with sim card in, GV on, etc, but with minimal use to see just how good the battery life is now. Before, with 1.6, I was getting 2 days absolute maximum, even with minimal usage. Now I've gotten this: http://imgur.com/xNjaz.jpg (with 10% battery remaining).
Anyone else gotten better or comparable results? Personally, I think this is excellent, especially compared to having to charge nightly with 1.6 when I actually put it to some use. I think I could do some browsing, texting, calling, and stuff and not have to worry that if I forget to charge one night, it would die early on the next day now.
Wat did u do to get this amazing result

Flashed the Nordic 2.1 rom and ran optimizer v002 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829660).
Ive noticed my battery is better too, I use mine quite heavily, take it off charge about 8am and would top up the charge about 2pm. This last week ive not needed to top up the charge, the other day I got home from work with 71% left, which for me was amazing!
It seems they changed the standby power consumption.

Hi,
What is the battery life we may expect from a Galaxy S2 ? Mine (from fully charged) lasted only 3-4 hours surfing the web using 3G, maybe including some wifi usage, however screen was dimmed down. Isn't the battery supposed to last a little longer ? The phone is new and I am on the third day now. Is there anything wrong with my device or will battery performance improve after some battery cycles ?
Regards, Andre

You can expect for more battery but you wont get until some optimization from google and samsung...

Mate 3g browsing on the sgs2 does kill that battery in 3-4 hours max.. that is actually the time scale most reviews give.. i know its a pain i hate it myself, but ull find generally using the phone ie camera, music etc gives you a longer battery. The browser rocks! but its a serious power drinker, i did discover that some sites are saying that using a 3rd party browser helps things abit e.g dolphin or opera. It has something to do wiv the gpu accelaration which enables u to do things like play 1080p videos in the stock browser and the constant smooth perfomance
oh and i found the battery does improve after a few cycles, but i think thats mainly due to the fact u tend to not be constantly playing with the phone al the time
Yep, 4 hours tops for me screen on usage.
Using Juice Defender which helps a bit..
Abouth the battery...
Earlier this evening my phone was at 28%, when i picked it back up an hour later it was 31%????
I watched the battery graph and it showed a Yellow line going upwarts slitghtly., is that strange??
Afterwards i saw green going down and than up again. I will post a pic of it.
Seriously, there are 5+ battery threads already, what is so specific about your case you felt the need to start a completely new discussion on it????
Fully charged this morning, moderate use throughout the day, on 52% now after 16 hours. I'm happy with that.

Im currently on 68% battery after 15h47m off charge. Wifi on all day. Moderate use. Photos and videos taken. A few benchmarks.
Battery now at 66%, after 20 hours and 6 minutes. Android OS running at 32% and it my largest process.
2% drop in battery over 4 hours with Android OS running at 32%... android OS bug my arse...
I wonder what would happen if people actually used their phones for talking.
I pre ordered this and waiting shipment. I can compare with the atrix i had, that the battery life was not to shabby but it had a 1900mah battery.
You can't expect amazing battery life with this phone
4.3inch screen
AMOLED+
1.2ghz CPU.
if they made the phone a bit thicker a tiny bit they could of put a bigger battery in there but samsung wants to compete with apple on thinest phones.

And it's more expensive so it's all about how much profit they want make and what price it's going to sell at.
well after the ke7 fw update my battery life seems to have improved
Doesn't sip too much when it's idle but mine tops out at 3.5h with screen on
Stock KE7, not rooted.
Must say this is the only dark spot in otherwise excellent phone.
Well still haven't got one and that doesn't discourage me at all

Is it just me or is this phone the phone with the worst battery life ever seen on any device.
Seeing gingerbread on this phone is already annoying enough but the battery life is completely useless.
Considering that it has sealed in battery, we're truly stuffed. Can't understand it at all. Don't they test these phones.
I went to bed last night with the battery at 98% and woke up to find it this morning at 63%. Just ridiculous.
And like I said nothing can be done about it,

It's just you
what firmware are you running? how long have you had the phone? If you are at .73 you should have no problems, even at update .67 its not too bad, so it's you... unless you sleep for 2 days .
Also, there's also a battery thread, which isn't even on the second page of this section yet. Or did you make this just to start a whine
thread?
Edit: Actually, its on the second page now, my bad
I'm on stock Rom the battery is pants, however I have used my desire charger, full charge from 40 percent in 15 mins, so it may be pants but it's ok ics should improve things

Did you get out of bed at 5pm? Check your installed apps and you definitely need to read the battery thread to see what every1 is experiencing with the latest firmware etc.

i tested mine last night.
Over night with WIFI on, Network ON it eat just 9% of battery.
Also you got rapid charge, they give this to us with a reason.
Hope moderators will merge the thread with the other one
I am running .73 firmaware & have no battery problem.. 16-17 hours with heavy use is more than enough when everything is on auto update.. In my sleep time, battery goes down just 3-4%.
.73 Firmware says otherwise
same here after update (.73) it lasted more than 8hrs (heavy usage). 7:00am unplugged and came back home around 7:00pm with 20% left. Standby during sleeping now takes around 3-4% in sleep mode compare to 30-35% on firmware .63 or .62 (i forgot)
4 days here and still 23percent left...

Battery life is horrible compared to any Samsung phone i'm now selling my xperia s as it is just too bad...
you need a firmware update.
my Xperia S has been unplugged for 15 hours and still has 53% battery left.

I know battery suck on .67. Even my Arc did better. But don't you cry, be optimistic, the Xperia S in still in development, and still needs to optimized by Sony. And in the future it does! Then post yourself a happy smile ok?

On .73 it's lasting longer than my Arc did, with even more background synch events.
The Xperia Ray had a awesome battery, on that note
Firmware does improve battery, gingerbread did wonders for the X10, but like everyone said the latest firmware does fix the battery, I had to charge midday when I first got my XS because the battery would drop very quick with heavy usage and half a day with moderate use, now it's last all day till bed time, thou it still can be improved.

I'm still on HC 3.2.1r2 but my Tablet's battery life is quite good and excellent on standby, but I've never tried to go past about 4 days. Do you use any "battery-saving" apps or things like WiFi lock apps that might cause wakelocks?
i have a 3g version and the battery lasts longer if i switch the device to airplane-mode...every 3-4h 1% battery

No bsttrry ssving apps do they sctually save battery, would anyone recommend some good battery saver apps .
Thanks

Agree, Since my ICS upgrade the battery has flattened out after just a day or two. This never happened before the upgrade. I've had it since it was released..
Haven't had any time to investigate whats causing it yet, will try to find out on this cycle.
Even with ICS my tablet holds 4 days with moderate use. I mostly use it for the IR function, RDP to PC or just for browsing, so nothin that would really drain the battery.
I should mention that I removed all bloatware and I hit the "Kill All button" (widget from ZDBox) a few times a day.
This is just a personal choice, but I've never found battery saving apps very effective. Most will give you either equivalent or shorter battery life so they're rarely worth it.
Ironically, some of them will shorten the battery life since to do all their conserving activities, they have to get wakelocks and some of them don't release them or they get queued and it ruins your battery.
Yep, my battery life is also rubbish now I'm on ICS, it'll need charging after a day!
I have noticed that Android OS uses up about 20% of the battery, while on my One S it's only about 3%....
wow i am surprised by 4 days. even on honeycomb i didnt get more than 2 days. on ics it's even worse. i am not using any apps in the background besides google sync. i do have 3g version, without simcard. and my wifi discnnect policy is "use mobile data" (i thought since there is no sim, this will disconnect the wifi)
So I am a bit worried about Sola battery because it has a dual-core CPU and only 1320 mAh battery. So you tell me how good the battery is? Good? Bad?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
For me it is very good
Before my Sola i had a LG GT540 with a battery life of 9 hours. Okey, I use my Phone the whole Day, but with my new Sola i have a battery life of 12-16 Hours. The DeepSleep Mode of the Sola is very great. Over the Night (10Hours) it lost only 5% So for my it is a great Battery Life
And Sorry for my bad English

easily lasts the whole day with the wifi,3g activated. If you desactivate the brightness and the 3g when you dont use it, you can nearly get to 2 days
Yep you should get a good day out of it, up to 2 if you don't use it that much.
Battery life very depend on how and what apps you use from your phone.
e.g:- don't be surprise any games will finish battery fast, 3G data consume more battery than wifi data. PTT apps, consume the fastest.
Sony Sola hardware, battery with their tuned OS just in the very right balance way.
With .184 firmware I got 3 days 5h with one charge.
I dont play much games ~10 min checked out the dead trigger, but I did watch olympics about 40 min and listened some music with handsfree headphones about 2-3h.
Plus checking email using wifi.
3g data and nfc are disabled.
Brightness is about 95 %.
