[Q] looking for a ROM with button assignment and action overflow - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Don't know if this is the right forum but I'm looking for a ROM that allows the buttons to be remapped eg menu to recents and reenables the action overflow on screen menu

[Q] Customize Cap Buttons

Is there a mod or kernel that allows us to customize the capacitive button actions (e.g. add a long press action to the menu button or change the short press action for the search button)? I haven't come across anything in my searching, but I haven't seen anything that explicitly says it's not possible either.
Check out the LaunchKey App...it maybe what you are looking for.
I can't post links...but you can find it over on the "Android Apps and Games" xda forum
Thanks man. I was hoping for something that would add long presses to the menu and back buttons too, but the custom menu option for the search key is sweet. Thanks again.

[Q] longpress mods for 3 hardware buttons

I've searched in a few different places, but no real definitive answer (other than it's a "divisive" topic). Is there a way yet to mod the functions of the 3 hardware buttons on the EVO 4G LTE? What about adding long-press functionality? I'm slightly worried because HTC has ZERO long-press features on their stock Sense, but I can't imagine the ability to remap is completely impossible.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated....thanks in advance!

ps - Still trying to wrap my brain around the logic of *removing* device capability and effectively burying previously single-click features behind multiple taps and swipes, but there's probably a different sub-forum/thread for that conversation
Pkmn 5.0 has all the short and long press buttons mapable. It is possible. As to how, I don't know but its a place to start

Most roms have recent apps remapped to menu and long press home recent apps.

General Disclaimer: I am not a developer, and don't know anything about development. I don't even use tweaks.
With that in mind, I've been wondering how difficult it would be to remap the longpress recent apps (changed to menu) to the google voice search, as it was with the long press on the search button on the 4G. Any ideas?

Force Menu UI Overflow

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows how to force the three dot overflow menu to appear in a stock rom. For example I prefer to have my menu key remapped as recent apps, but on stock roms, the 3 dot menu button doesn't appear, making it slightly hard to navigate :/. Thanks for any info or ideas.

How to disable 3 dot menu bottome bar ?

Hey peeps
if anyone would know how to disable the bottom 3dot menu, and just to long press home key for menu like they did on the htc one / x etc....
Cheers
I wish I had a three dot menu button.
Xposed may fix the 3dot disable option. Venom rom has the option to edit the home key long press to offer menu or other choices.
Yes you will need a custom ROM such as mentioned above, also Viper ROMS support this function.

Am i missing your question? Are you not able to do it by using Settings -> Display, Gestures & buttons -> Buttons ->Home?
