Have EVO LTE, questions before switch - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently have the Sprint EVO LTE, like it a lot, but love the look of the White S3. However, I have a few concerns going in.
I notice that the S3 doesn't have a multitask button, how does that work?
Has anyone with it on Sprint noticed the standby battery issues that others are complaining about?
Or quite simply, has anyone had both and gone back to the EVO?

Long press home brings up multitasking.

Is it too late to join the 3d party?

Hey guys, I know people usually hate these kinds of threads, but I've been a NS4G user for a while, and an Evo 4g user before that. My family is joining my Sprint plan and I'm thinking of giving my NS4G to the sister and getting a new phone. I like the idea of getting the 3d, but i am worried that it might be getting close to being outdated seeing as how it was released in June. That is pushing me towards the E4GT, but I would much rather have HTC's build quality and Sense over Touchwiz any day. So what do you guys think? Is it too late to get an Evo 3d on contract? Would you guys buy an Evo 3d again today if given the opportunity?

I love my 3D but it has been a very buggy phone. This is my 3rd E3D and if they would let me switch phones I would. I need to take this one back aswell it keeps freezing even with stock. I have to keep hitting my power button to turn the screen off then it works again some times for 5mins and some times 2weeks.

I love my evo 3d. Never had a problem and rooted it the very first day I got it. It's the best phone i've owned to date. Future phones will probably improve battery life, screen, and be lte compatible. I don't think you need more than dual cores, I think this phone will be competitive for quite a while. This just my personal opinion of course....

Thanks for your input. What other bugs did you experience other than the power button bug?

Thanks for your reassurance! I've always been an HTC guy (as you can tell from my phone history in my sig), and I wanna get back to them. I just have heard many bad things about the phone... i'll probably be going to sprint today to make my final decision, but i still would love more peoples input!

Haven't really had any issues with my 3D besides a really small dead pixel. You really shouldn't go off of what people tell you though because everyone has their own preferences. Take a look through the Dev. forum and check out the roms that the 3D has right now. It is a little behind on the dev side given we don't have CM yet but it all depends on what types of roms you like to run or if you are planning to root.
I was tempted to jump to the ET4G like many others but after seeing some make the jump then coming back to the 3D I decided against it. Just remember Samsung has a history of delaying software updates.

This has been my experience.
The only suggestion I have is what I've been telling everyone who asks. Since everyone is going to LTE, only get a LTE phone. Since Sprint's LTE has not started yet, amd will be rolled out starting late next year into 2013 and they are not dropping WiMax, I don't anticipate needing a Sprint LTE phone till Mid-late 2013. Meaning if you get a EVO 3D (the best Sprint Android phone IMO) through this summer, you will not be missing out on any speed things. Phone tech always is changing, but EVO 3D should get ICS sometime next year and be current enough for 1-1 1/2 years more.

Thanks guys, I think i may be going to pick one up today. I just hope I can live without Super Amoled. That is my favorite thing about the Nexus S. But I'm hoping with the qHD resolution I won't miss it too much. Thanks for all of your input!

I moved from AMOLED (Legend) to SLCD Evo 3D and I don't regret. Black is not so black as it was on amoled, but all other colors are better.
The only problem I've had was a busted antenna, but swapped that phone out and it's been all good since
The EVO 3D is a superb phone. Build quality is unmatched, as you're well aware as a longtime HTC owner. The only thing i wish they'd done differently is put an AMOLED screen on it, because the screen on this phone drains the battery faster than an AMOLED screen would.
GOT IT!
I picked it up today and I have been very pleased so far. Thanks guys for all of your input. I can't wait to get this thing unlocked and rooted(preferably not through HTC's unlocker(hboot 1.50)) in the next few days to see what this baby can do!
I got mine yesterday or the day before (nightshift messes up my brain!)
Anyway, I got it as a replacement for the Epic 4G..
I worked for Sprint in the past & have had nearly every Android that is worth having..
But most recently, I've had the EVO 4G & the Epic 4G, I usually have one for a few months and then want to go back to the other. I had this lated Epic off of a Craiglist trade (traded my white EVO 4G, straight trade... my last 3-4 of them have been Craigslist).
Anyway, like I said, this was a replacement, but this EVO 3D came from Sprint.. I took my Craigslist Epic into the store the other day because I was having data & GPS issues (since the 2.3 update) like the Galaxy series is known for & wanted to have another Epic (refurb or not). This was my first time going to the Sprint store for repairs (not any store that knows I used to work for Sprint, since it's in TX & I'm from FL), and they offered me a replacement right away.. EVO 4G, EVO 3D, EVO Shift, Galaxy Nexus (had that one the day it came out so I had the slow downloads, but don't like non-expandable storage).. I was blown away the system offered me a EVO 3D, so yeah, I jumped on that.......
I love my EVO 3D. I had been whining recently about needing a dual core, even wanted to go to the next iPhone whenever it hits sprint (4G or LTE compatible), but now I'll be sticking with this phone because the dual core really is superb. I mean ya, maybe I'd like a Galaxy S II better since it has better optics for the camera, but I've already had too much fun with the 3D novelty.
Plus, it's an EVO with a camera button, I LOOOOVE that. It's also the nicest build quality of any phone I've had. Oh, and it has Gorilla Glass... I hate screen protectors.
I'm also satisfied that I don't need to use APP 2 SD for a while since it has plenty of space compared to the Epic.
Not sure about the battery life yet, but this is the one phone I'll finally buy a Seidio battery for if need be, since it's worth it.
It actually doesn't have Gorilla Glass (the corning one). It only has HTC's Gorilla glass equivalent, so god knows how good it actually is.
Wow, good to know... I swear it says Gorilla Glass somewhere official though. Of course it's been out so long I know it's already been discussed LOL
Here's the most official I can find for now, straight from Corning
http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/htc
I've grown into my 3D. I received it as a replacement for my Evo 4G, which was having GPS reboot issues. At first, I didn't like it. It felt laggy, and didn't seem like much of an upgrade to the 4G. Now, when I use my wife's Evo 4G, that phone feels "held back", for lack of a better term. Although, I do not use the HTC sense launcher. It has nice eye candy, but the software isn't optimized, so it doesn't run very well. I like the sense apps, just not their launcher. I do prefer the size ratio of the 4G, compared to the 3D. And the 3D runs games like a champ, compared to the choppiness you will see on the 4G.
I'd still prefer the Epic Touch 4G, as that screen trumps the 3D's screen any day of the week.
I had been using LauncherPro, but every few hours I would get hit with the "use Sense or LauncherPro" defaults question... like ?! I already answered this question (it wasn't going back home from somewhere I hadn't set the answer to yet), so I went back to Sense, oh well. I'm happy with a folder instead of more icons I suppose.

I'm not bashing, I'm genuinely curious (Former or current SGSII Epic 4G Touch owners)

I owned the original EVO and loved it. From there I moved to the SGSII Epic 4G Touch because I wasn't thrilled with what I saw from the EVO 3D but now I'm back to the EVO family (it feels good to be home!) with my 4G LTE since launch day but I'm wondering of anyone else is experiencing the same things I am, especially former SGSII owners.
The 4G LTE feels considerable slower than my SGSII. And I mean considerably!
Text message conversations with more than a couple hundred texts take a long time to load (sometimes not loading at all)
Heading into the Recent Apps screen takes several seconds from push of the button to actual initialization
Scrolling on the home screens and in the app drawer is sometimes laggy or choppy
From the moment you unlock the phone to when you have access to the home screen takes a few seconds.
Apps take longer to open than on the SGSII
Little things like screen taps seemingly not registering right away
Again, I'm NOT bashing! I'm genuinely curious if anyone else notices these things because if this isn't happening to anyone else then clearly my unit is defective and I need to exchange it ASAP, before the 14 day exchange policy runs out.
UPDATE: I went into a Sprint store a couple of hours ago, exchanged my EVO for another unit, and this one (so far, anyway) is the complete opposite of this last one. Everything is moving right along with little to no lag and I haven't run into any of the old hiccups (yet) so it looks like it might have just been a bad unit.

Your not alone. I don't own a SGSII but I can tell you that my LTE is acting the same way, which all point back to sense 4 is the problem. I'm sure with custom rom and better memory management it will be a whole lot better, I hope.
ur the only person experiencing those things my friend
That doesn't seem normal. Mine is really snappy, coming from a an Epic 4G (SGS1) Try a different launcher first.
Have you tried the phone in the store?
If you think your phone is defective by all means exchange it. I exchanged mine after 1 day due to reboots, been rock solid since (knock on wood)
I am a E4GT and Evo LTE owner. The Evo LTE is much faster everything I have used it for so far (with the exception of 4g, I do not have LTE in my area).

Wife has a epic 4g touch and I was jeaslous when I had my OG EVO since it was fast and new. I can tell you now she is jealous, my LTE flys...
Thanks for the idea, guys
It does seem to be Sense-based because I installed GoLauncher and it seems to be snappy as can be. Going through my texts messages in Handcent also seems to be greatly improved.
That's both good news and bad news though, because... what the hell do I do with a phone that doesn't run stock software well?
I'm going to head back to Sprint tomorrow and exchange it and hope it's just a fluke with this specific unit. It might be. And I'm really hoping it is because I don't want to have to leave HTC once again (have you seen the SGSIII?! it's hideous!)
Not normal at all. I would do a factory reset.
Coming from the E4GT, I have no idea what you're talking about lol. the LTE is superior in every aspect.. but yeah u should get a replacement. I had a loose vibrating motor and I took it to best buy for a replacement with problems, I had to call every day and a bunch of stores in the area for when they had some in stock
I agree with the other posters.....it does seem strange that you see this....I just tried all the stuff you mentioned and I get fast as hell responses. I did exchange my first one because of a rare overheat......but my new one and my wifes both are awesome with ***** sprinkles.
Exchange, it is!
Thanks, y'all.
Wish me luck tomorrow.
Had a epic 4g touch and a iPhone 4s. This phone is faster in all aspects then both of those phones.
Good luck with the exchange.
i have both phone epic 4g touch is my personal and htc lte is my work phone. comparing the 2 i feel they are the same but that is because my e4gt is rooted with custom rom running at 1.5 ghz most the time. 1.7ghz 75% or higher. so comparing a stock 1.5ghz phone vs a rooted, running scripts, custom kernal. i would say the htc is better performance wise.
I do see the laggyness that the OP is experiancing sometimes, during a lot of multi tasking.
Coming from the Epic Touch I can honestly say this phone is better in every way.

I'm not having those problems
I'm not having those problems on a consistent basis. My biggest problem is that the 3g will just drop out from 3-4 bars to no bars.

I owned an E4G and an ET4G and while I don't have the experience of all you issues, I was experiencing issues number 2 and 6.
Ive been experiencing some hiccups but I know its not hardware related ..I'm confide.t after a couple otas we will all have "birch sprinkles" on our phones lol..and once the store I purchased from gets more I'm.getting a replacement for.some reception issues
Ive noticed it as well.
On all previous EVO devices the longer the thread is on texting the worse it lags.
I blame sense.
I got the EVO LTE on Saturday, coming from an EVO 3D, and immediately rooted, unlocked and flashed Viper Rom and the Dual-Core mod. I noticed that things were lagging, games were stuttering, and things were just generally slow. I happened to run a Quadrant benchmark yesterday, and my scores were only in the neighborhood of 2100, so something was definitely wrong with my setup. I wiped and reflashed Viper Rom and the DC mod, now things are blazing fast! Games run perfectly and my Quad score is looking like it should be.
If you flashed a rom, you might have the same issues I was. Run some benchmarks, and if they are abnormally low, wipe and reflash.

Anyone return or think about returning their Evo 4g LTE?

Im just curious to see if anyone has returned their Evo yet?
I am still debating. I absolutly love this phone but the signal and data speeds are killing me. I am hoping it is a software issue and they are able to fix it with an update. There is no other phone on Sprint I would even consider.
The GSIII looks like crap and I would never go for an iphone. I wish they would just fix the 3g issues I am having. Data speeds jump all around. Sometimes I am at .11mbps then I can jump up to 2.2mbps. within 30 seconds in the exact same spot.
Yup, I gave up on mine after the reboot/3G data/WiFi hand-off issues just became too much to bear. My OG EVO now feels like a frustratingly slow dinosaur in my hands, but on the plus side its signal is reliable and it's much more stable. C'est la vie.
No, mine has been great. When I heard about the 2GB ram in the GS3 I thought about it for maybe 5 minutes. But, then I remembered how disappointed I was with the pentile screen on the nexus s and how the phone felt compared to the evo shift it replaced.
I don't want another glossy plastic phone with a pentile display.
One thing I really do miss though is the app noled which was so awesome for notifications on an amoled screen. Now we get a green blinking light that times out after 5 minutes. That's a huge step back and the only thing I am really disappointed about.
I've highly been considering switching to a OneX on ATT. My data speeds are ridiculous with the evoLTE. My 3D would hit speeds of around 800kbs down on 3G, Vs. the LTE at 200 kbs, or sometimes won't even connect.
ATT has HSPA+ in my area with speeds around 8Mbs
Hell no best phone I have ever owned! This thing kicks ass lol.

I'm about 90% convinced to return it.
Updating Google Play apps stops if you do anything else, and Airdroid stopped transferring files once the screen shut off.
I'm tired of forums reloading, web pages reloading, everything reloading, and there being no memory left thanks to an overly bloated Sense 4. I thought reviews were accurate that Sense 4 was slimmer, but that's just the launcher. It's in more things than ever, ruining everything.
I played around with my EVO 3D last night, running ICS and Sense 3.6. It's MUCH more responsive, fluid, and doesn't have any multitasking issues. I hate that I downgraded the phone, so I'm just going to return it and enjoy the better experience, which is sadly achieved on a phone 1 year older.
Going to miss a good camera though, and will probably end up getting the S3 unless dev community magically has CM9 in 5 days.
Nope, and I'm not going to. Just had it replaced last night for a light leak issue from the Home button. This new one is flawless. It's worth waiting til fall for LTE.

I thought about it but no android phone comes out perfect and i really love the hardware and design of my EVO LTE so im keeping mine.
i tired to return it once i found out that the s3 was coming to sprint, but i was over the 14 return days, i was on day 16 -_-.
all well.
the only thing that sucks with this phone is like a few people said data.. on my og evo and evo 3d i had NO problems.. i used to get 4g in my house.. 3g was hella fast but on the lte sometime when i download an app it takes mad long.. spots where i would get 4g my 3g bearly works on the lte.. other than that i love the phone.. i wish there was something to fix this.. im hoping when the next update comes it fix's this problem.. because i never had that problem with the other 2 evo's i had??
Obviously this thread has been done ad nauseum, but I was so close to returning for the GSIII that I had a return kit shipped to my house.
Reasons to keep EVO LTE:
1> screen
2> stock camera app is amazing
3> build quality/materials are amazing
4> holy damn the developer support took off on this thing
5> physical camera button is great and often rare addition these days
Reasons to get to get rid of EVO LTE:
1>Multitasking is super terrible garbage and if you don't want to root your phone and install minfreemanager or a new ROM immediately, then this phone is neutered and terrible. Would never recommend to my non-techie friends. And HTC's response of "it's a feature" (thanks ghost of steve jobs acting there) makes me want people to return the phone on principal.
2>If you are in a borderline signal place, many people are having signal problems. When I visited my folks, I noticed it. Signal worse than OG EVO. But I live in a major metropolitan area and the phone works better here than it did on my OG EVO.
3>stock rom compresses MMS and has basically ruined my MMS experience.
The GSIII wins on:
1> RAM
2> maybe future support as the phone is expected to be highly ubiquitous. But that's just a maybe and it'll more probably be a wash
3>no multitasking problems
4> stock memory partitioning
GSIII loses on:
1>hideous physical home button
2>plastic plastic plastic
3> history of terrible antennas from samsung
4> history of terrible software update from samsung
5> screen
6> no physical camera button
7>no kickstand (I use it)
So more RAM (possible future proof for one extra android upgrade??), no multitasking problem, better memory partitioning.
Keep the EVO LTE if you are going to add a big SD card (I use a 64GB and it works despite the quoted limit of 32GB) and root it.
Get rid of EVO LTE if you want to buy a stock phone and keep it that way for a while or if you are in a place that the signal isn't working for you.
Anybody wants to sell there LTE gmail me [email protected]
No way, why would I return it?? This phone is the fastest phone on the market with the most features and best screen. My speeds are good and I really have no complaints. Sucks to be in a bad area as far as reception, but im in a perfect area and wouldn't consider getting rid of this beast.

Does anyone know how Best Buy's return policy works.. say I return the LTE, get the S3, and then find out that I like the LTE better? Can I just return the S3 again and buy the LTE again?
I would never return it.... Best phone I've owned by far, LTE is coming nv too, im lucky I'm on wifi most of the time. I think even if i wasn't i would deal, I'm certainly not going back to that crappy 3 d

Yes which is why I love Best Buy. By the time the GS3 comes out, I will have my EVO for 3 weeks and still have the option to return it for a GS3, which I'm guessing I won't do unless the GS3 blows me away.
Hellz no I'm not returning. This device has exceeded my expectations. I admit I've been, and probably still am to some degree, a Samsung fanboy. So I really was planning on holding out for the s3. But I saw the screen on the EVO LTE and immediately could see what people meant by the drawback of a pentile display. So I said "hey, I got an upgrade available. Let me try this evo out for two weeks and if I don't like it ill return it and get the s3." I'm so glad I did cuz this device has been awesome. Data speeds haven't been an issue for me (and I'm on 3g still) and the build quality is superb. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the s3 will be awesome but I'm happy with this badboy right now and I don't think you'll notice too much difference with that extra gig of RAM--not till developers build apps to take advantage of that. By that time, knowing me, ill have a new device anyway. Dev support is awesome too here!
BTW, with regard to return policies, I have plenty of experience...lol. Best buy does give u 30 days but IF u want your upgrade back from Sprint, u must return within 14 days.

[Q] Still on edge about buying the Evo.

I know I know, you're all tired of these threads asking questions about the Evo I understand but I just have a few questions that I would like to ask before I shell out the dinero on this bad boy so please be easy on me
1. How is performance(lag/stuttering/wait times) after a couple weeks of owning the Evo?
2. Is the multitasking issue really that bad? Is it lack of RAM because of sense? Can this be fixed by OTA or custom ROMs? I've read some ROM threads and some tweaks seem to alleviate the issue but not by much.
3. How has your overall all experience with this phone been? Any bugs that are common? Radios,GPS, wifi? Software bugs?
Okay thanks guys those are the only questions I have, I'm looking at the Evo and the S3 but the Evo is the phone that's getting my attention the most and I just want to ask some questions before I pull the trigger. Sorry if I annoyed anyone by the thread, again thank you if you reply
I don't have one but am also thinking of getting one in the future. The new problem with the phone bending is a major concern to me. If you ever plan on carrying it in your pants pocket you may want to consider a different phone.

1. Had mine for a week and a half and lag doesnt exist on this.
2. It is kind of a pain in the butt. Especially when going back to a web page(even if it was you last task). It reloads the whole page and puts you back at the top of the page.
3. GPS and WIFI are flawless. Quick locks and no issues. 3G is a hit or miss for some people. It seems that 3G will shut off when using wifi but has problems picking it back up. Switching airplane mode or mobile network on/off fixes it usually. Sometimes a restart is needed.
Coming from the EVO 3D, I am very happy with the phone over all. The little things seem like they could be easily fixed with a software update or a dev working their magic. The GS3 has the same internals pretty much and doesnt face the 3G connectivity issues. Hope and pray....
Good luck on what ever you choose.
Got mine on release day(in store release day, not preorder), very rarely do I see any lag in the phone.
The memory management could be better, like stated. The most annoying thing is opening the browser expecting a page to have loaded and be ready for you (I tend to switch apps while I wait for a page to load - habit officially broken.) The page has to completely reload.
Wifi has been my only issue, occasionally I have to cycle Wifi on/off to get it to pick up on my home network - oddly never happens at work, but I guess that's got something to do with my cheap router vs an enterprise class one.
I get better reception with this phone just about every where than any of my previous phones, last one I had was the Photon and now my wife has it.
I get a new device every 6 months or so and have had most of the high end Sprint phones, except the 3D. That said, this is the best of the best I have ever experienced.
As for the bending the phone if its in your pocket? I haven't had a problem with it. My guess is that some of the phones have a week spot in the chassis. If it happens, I'd take it back to Sprint.

I've had the Evo for about 3 weeks now. I've been rooted running MeanROM for a little over a week. The multitasking was annoying at first, but you get used to it. Other than that. The phone is amazing. I actually convinced one of my apple evangelist friends to make the switch after he used my phone.

[Q] worth getting the LTE?

hey guys.
I was on board with the first Evo 4G, then got the Evo 3D, and now i'm wanting to upgrade. but i'm not feeling as excited about the LTE as I was hoping to be.
I use my phones with MetroPCS so I don't care about the LTE capabilities. is there anything going from an Evo 3D to the LTE that might leave me disatisfied? is there a better phone out there (CDMA)?
thanks.

i had the og evo and the evo 3d.. now i got the evo lte and it kicks a$$!!! this phone is a beast.. that is all
Best battery life of any android devices i have owned.
EVO 4G, Epic 4G, EVO 3D, Epic Touch.
Do not get the LTE yet! Do you like 3G speed on your brand new Porche?
I wish I had stay with my 3D.
i just hate this 3G speed!
I'm sorry I don't follow. Are you suggesting the speeds I'm getting on my 3D are better than what I would get on the same service with the LTE?

Cheating on Post 8... HEY MOM WHERE IS THE MEAT LOAF??!!
If you're not having any issues with your EVO 3D, I'd suggest you stick with it. For me, the EVO LTE isn't much of an upgrade because of all the problems I have with it. Others may not have these problems... I dunno, but here's my list:
* It locks up and I have to reset it constantly.
* Characters or whole freakin' words disappear after they've been typed. This bugs me more than everything else.
* Multitasking is an absolute joke because the phone constantly refreshes itself when you leave an app and go to another.
* My text messages don't send or I don't receive any quite often.
* Connecting to the web is always an issue even when the phone is showing a full strength signal. I usually end up grabbing a different phone to do what I was trying to do.
* When I download stuff from the web, the content gets stored on the phone's internal storage instead of the SD card like it's supposed to.
I've had these very same issues even when my phone was bone stock. My phone is rooted now and it's running on the VIPER 4G ROM, and it STILL has the same issues. I still have and use my EVO 3D on a different line... I'm glad I didn't trade it in.

That's lame that you are having all those issues. On the last one though, you do know you can choose where things are downloaded to.

I have my og evo 4g on another line and even when it is on 3g it gets much better service than my lte. For example, on my golf course the lte cant even stream pandora. The og evo never misses a beat. IMO this phone just wasnt meant for 3g.
I would agree on the battery life though, and that is about the only thing keeping from going back to the og evo all together.

I've tried adjusting every setting there is on the Dolphin browser, Google Chrome, the built-in browser and the phone settings and it still won't work right. I'm not too concerned with that issue though... it's a minor annoyance in comparison with everything else.
Stock browser, settings, advanced, download storage.?

thanks for the feedback guys.
after researching both phones, I'm going to cheat on HTC and go over to the Samsung Galaxy SIII.
more ram, bigger screen, replaceable battery (easily the most convincing argument for me since I typically buy my Seidio big batteries before the phones), and connectivity with all our existing Samsung electronics.
Let's hope I don't regret it...
The best handset I've ever had, by FAR. The LTEVO is as good as it gets... Until the new HTC hardware rolls out this Fall, of course.

Yup, that's how my phone has always been setup. I'm gonna try flashing a non-Sense ROM (if there is one) to see if it'll get rid of my issues.
Got blue (me) and white (wife) SIIIs today. They look great and are very light. Still very nervous leaving HTC but I think change every couple of years is healthy...right?

The Samsung phones are ok. I have an SII that I picked up a few months ago. The only thing I'm not too fond of with the Samsung phones are the Super AMOLED screens. They're a little too saturated with color and not bright enough for my taste.
Coming from someone who knows SPECS and performance, dont go with the Evo LTE.
Thats the phone I currently have and from looking at my signature, I have been on almost every Droid phone even the ones on the GSM side of the world.
The Evo LTE is a good phone but it does have its problems. The biggest and only real problem you will notice is the tasking. If your in a app or brower and if you leave it and try to come back to it, the phone will attemp to reload the whole app or page your on. And if your on Sprint 3G that can be a pain LOL.
If anyone on here tell you the phone is a beast or the best phone on the market, they are either fanboys of HTC devices, or plain clear dont know what there talking about. Dont get me wrong, the phone isnt bad but the phone will start to slow down as you install more and more apps and HTC Sense does take up a good portion of RAM so expect your apps to close out a lot if you back out of them.
If your on the Evo 3D, the only upgrade you will really see is in the Camera and the Display of the Screen. The screen is 720p vs the Evo 3D QHD. As for the camera, its up there with the iphone 4s in my opinion.
If you had to choose which CDMA phone to get next I would say either the Galaxy S3 for its performance, perfect tasking and SAMOLED 720p Display.
Or the Galaxy Nexus to get that pure google experience that has basicly 0 system lag with the Jelly Bean OS.
Thats my 2 cents, to me HTC failed with this phone. The tasking problem with Sprint 3G is just fail. Impatiently waiting for LTE to come to Nashville TN the music city of the country...

Lol I have only had the multi tasking problem (stock rom) now running mean rom everything is perfect except sprints 3g in hawaii but ofcourse I knew what I was getting into when trading WiMAX for 3g so I can't complain, all the other problems you have posted leads me to believe you have a defective device, if so then I'm sorry for a bad first impression.

IMO the galaxy nexus from Verizon which I am familiar with has poor cpu/gpu performance compared to the evo lte. Gaming/video playback/3d graphics really made me sad from a Samsung google device. I do get ridiculous lte here 20-40mbps, just can't play any graphics intensive games without crazy lag and battery guzzling internals. I get a full day on my lte overclocked lol and I get 6-7 hours on my veri GN stock rom.
