So.
Being a new android user, I messed around with my phone without a full understanding of what would happen if i uninstalled a core application. I assumed incorrectly that Titanium Backup would allow me to reinstall applications, and then uninstalled the stock clock application thinking that it was one of the many clock widgets.
Could someone upload their stock Clock application apk here, or advise me as to how I can restore the stock clock (preferably without having to flash the original ROM)?

Here. I backup all of the apk that I want to remove. Hope this is what you want.
Is this the stock clock application, like the one used for alarms and such?
EDIT: I attempted to install ClockPackage.apk anyway by using Root explorer, and then moving the apk to /system/app and installing it from there, but it says 'Application not installed.' Am I doing something wrong?

This is for clock, alarm, stopwatch etc. Put the apk on the root of your sd card and install from there. Don have to move it to system/app.

LOL YOU DID THE SAME THING AS ME. (except no one bothered to reply to my cries for help and I had to figure out everything myself)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070083
1)keep your clockpackage.apk in system/apps
2)download this .odex file
3)put the file in system/apps, remember to mount r/w in rootexplorer to enable pasting it in there, then mount r/o when finished
4)turn phone off.
5)turn phone on.
Mmmm, same here but I lost the weather widget due to samsung app update. Any one!

Did you add the odex file as explained above?
Yes i followed the guide as described. I have the odex and apk in system/apps folder. Funny, another clock widget im using is showing my next alarm.. but no alarmclock..
Followed the guide above, apk and odex showing in app system/app but still not available anywhere on the phone.
Anyone recommend a third party clockpackage from the market?
Used sgstools to kill my clock so used it to reinstall it to.
added a extra script,
echo "this will reverse the klok hack"
busybox cp -f /sdcard/sgstools/ClockPackage.apk /system/app/
(you might have to remove it fist if you have been messing around to get it working again)
I did the what the above guide said and could not find the app in the application menu. Help!
will reloading the stock firmware fix this issue?

I did the same thing, but when i restart my phone, the clock in not in the app drawer, when i go to TB, it is there, but with a line through it and it won't restore, all attempts to install the apk is failing too... what can i do?
The link for the odex file is down. Also, I'm trying to get this app working on CM7. Is that doable? I love CM, but a couple of the samsung apps are miles beyond what comes with Cyanogenmod - namely the clock, and the camera. I understand I can't swap the camera app, having looked into it, and I'm ok with that. The clock, however... I gotta have my samsung clock back!
Parse Error
I managed to get the ClockPackage.apk and the ClockPackage.odex from another device (running on 2.3.5 instead of 2.3.6) and now I get the following error while trying to install the apk:
"Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package"
Does anybody know what to do?
Contacts app backup please help
hi, I recently updated my sgs2 i9100p (NFS) to ics via kies. Its orange but I unlocked now 4.0.3 with baseband ver i9100PBVLP6. an orange bloatware called 'contact backup' irritated me so I decided to uninstall it with Titanium backup. but in a hurry I uninstalled stock contact app. now there is no contact and in every 5-10 second phone freezes and error msg comes-' unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped'. Please help.
AnalogClock.apk + ClockPackage.apk seem to work together.
I used SystemApp Remover to disable ClockPackage.apk, (thought it was a bunch of unnecessary Clock widgets), but stock Clocks package stopped working. I tried enabling it, copying ClockPackage.apk, and still could not. SuperSU logs indicated that all operations succeded normally, but it simply would not work.
I thought, maybe it messed up with program data, permissions, etc., so I removed/deleted both, restarted, then simply copied .apk file for both back. Only then it worked.

There are applications that access data, and there are applications that provide that data. For example, for contacts, you could have many applications that use it (Email, Messenger, Call Logs, etc), and one application that provides it. In case if you accidentally delete data provider (in your case contacts), and if that data provider is essential to running your phone, you will ruin your phone. You might be able to restore it, but I would recommend using Odin to flash correct official firmware. Search in forum "i9100 Android Development".

U are right. I think I uninstalled contact provider, the main contact app. I tried to find solution for all day but coudn't. Tried to flash original stock rom which I have downloaded (i9001PBVLP6) but odin didn't detect my phone in downloading mode. I had to make my phone work anyhow so I flashed Wanamlite 11 with cwm which is ok but not fully functioned on my nfc version sgs2 (now I know the importance of back-up). Now I want my original stock rom back. tried with cwm but didnt work, Odin doesnt detect my phone. any help regarding flashing this stock rom, please?
Hi Guys,
I am running VK 2.1 Stable ediition [ KK5] with Siyah kernel [v2.5.2].
Am increasingly annoyed with the following browser issue:
Right now, if I click on a link, it is automatically opening in a new window, instead of opening in the same window. Similarly , for each redirection it is opening a new window, which leads to lots of blank windows.[ ie. for some sites, where redirection to mobile site happens, it creates one window and then creates a new one . [for each redirection, one window is created].
I have already tried flashing a different browser mod, wannam lite's universal browser mod etc, and this issue seems to occur in all the browsers!! Tried, clearing dalvik cache, data and cache of the application too, and it doesn't seem to help!!.
Any suggestions or ideas on how to resolve this would be welcome. Already posted in a few threads [ the original ROM thread], with no replies
Bump!!
Any ideas? Anyone?
Is this the default behaviour of the browser [ any modded browser with UI Agent settings?]
Can't say I've come across that problem before, try going to settings and check the box that says open pages in background.

Have already tried that. As said, had even deleted all data and cache of the application and tried flashing multiple mods of the browser, and still not working.
Are you running KK5 ROM? If so, can you please attach your working Browser.apk [if you are running a deodexed ROM].
Sure I can upload the stock browser.apk from my KK5 deodexed rom when I have access to a pc. Have you tried reflashing your rom? Might be stating the obvious but did you restore your apps with titanium backup, that can cause problems sometimes?
stock browser.apk attached, hope it helps

I haven't tried reflashing, I want to keep it as a last option. Regarding the titanium backup, I didn't respite the browser or any system apps, not sure how it will affect. Any good fancy rotation plus ics rom?
Please help im loving the linaro 2.99 PA rom but some settings wont stick.
i have dirty racun S-off, twrp 2.3.1, komodo(21)2.1
(1.22.3) and (1.15)
under performance my governor wont stick (keeps reverting to ONDEMAND)
but my frequency settings stay where i want them
none of the settings for tablet phablet or hybrid stick not even the splash of colors.
even though it doesnt ask me for permissions before the reboot i checked supersu app and paranoid settings have been granted su.

The reason why you were able to sync in the first place was because you were using facebook pre-installed on the stock htc sense rom. The facebook on the play store will not have that same sync feature. However somone made a workaround. Search on the play store for Facebook Sync by Danut Chereches. This will sync your facebook contacts for you as a replacement and is free.
OK. What about the settings, they still dont stick
Hmmmm this may not be the likely solution as I'm not familiar with this rom, but go to supersu and find processes that are denied then enable all of those to notify you when they are being denied. If any of those notifications come up when you change settings, grant them access.

I've tried messing with super su deleting history and retrying. There is no prompt to gain superuser from the pa preferences and after the reboot nothing has been changed I check the super su app and it shows that it was granted permission.
Maybe a dirty flash would help?

Ok, when you flashed this rom in the first place, did you completely wipe everything prior to doing so? If not, flash super wipe then your rom and other required things by the rom.

Very simple little zip attached to just block ads on your HTC DNA in recovery. Just flash in recovery and enjoy your adless DNA
Awesome. Very useful since Adblock won't work.
I use adfree and it works. It just doesn't stick after reboots.

I really appreciate all of the flashable zips made for us. What I did, however, is use *insert your favorite ad blocker* to update the hosts file. Then, before rebooting the phone I made a copy of that file. Using AromaFM in recovery I replaced the hosts file with the copy I made. Reboot and good to go. Downside, of course, is that you can muck something up. Upside is that you can more quickly change your host file without waiting for some kind soul to zip up a change for us.

There is that! +1
If not going to that kernel... whatever ad blocker you use...update the hosts file...pull it using ADB with phone on...reboot to recovery...mount system...push hosts..adb shell use chmod 755 reboot and done! I would do this everytime AdAway told me there was an updated hosts file.
Gets you comfortable with ADB commands, too, which is never a bad thing!
+1 to that for sure running it now myself
Adaway works normally now with the new Cubed kernel.
No more cubed kernel?
Am I correct to assume that this is the same as this:

If so, my concerns posted in that thread are still outstanding. My post:
Has anybody else tried this? I'm kinda hesitant. What if it breaks some sites/apps and I need to temporarily disable it? I haven't had much luck with ad free or ad away or even abp on my rooted DNA..
Edit: Of course it's the same; it's posted by the same person lol

All of the current custom roms out there have this included. You shouldn't be worried. I've never had an instance where it breaks anything.

So basically this eliminates the need for a third party app such as adfree/adaway? And what if there needs to be an update applied for the hosts? **** out of luck until someone decides to release an updated zip?

Okay, I just tried to flash this but it gave me an MD5 error and said to uncheck the "force MD5 check"... so I did and then it worked. Is that normal?
Flash DSB's stock writeable kernel and then install Adaway. That way you can have ad blocking and you can turn it off if it blocks a website you want to go to.
The other benefit of using a third party app to do this is that it updates the block list on a daily basis as new ad websites are found.
This is strange.. As soon as I booted back up I got an error that Shazam couldn't be updated. I went to the play store and it gave me this error: RPC:S-5:AEC-0.. I followed the instructions in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWSxPXgnWRY
It seems to have been fixed now. When I rebooted again after force stopping the google services framework and clearing the data, Shazam automatically updated. Anyone else have this happen to them?

I'm kinda circumspect about installing a new kernal cuz that will just open up new variables for something to go wrong. I wanna keep my DNA as stable as I can for as long as I can.
The stock writeable kernel is stable, plus any other apps that require writing to the system (most apps that require root) will work properly.

If it's so stable then why have there been numerous updates to it?
I don't wanna have to keep up with random updates released for it either and always having to flash a new kernal. I'll just stick with this blockads zip for now since it seems to have worked well. I might re-visit it in the future if it's not working for me anymore.
Thanks for your help though.
DSB has two kernels:
1. Stock writeable with absolutely no problems;
2. Modified with overclock and sweep to wake, this is the one with a lot of updates.

Are you not talking about the cubed kernel?
Using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011243
Only his cubed one comes up, with an extensive change log. The first link in the list of kernels is dead so I'm not sure if that is the one you are referring to.
This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064066
There's one guy who has a "problem" because he didn't flash things correctly but he is the only one. I've used it and so have many others and no one has a problem. In fact developers are starting to package this kernel in their roms now.
i posted this over @ driodrzr.com i am hoping the more eyes see it someone can help me out,
I had this running fine on ICS. Upgraded to JB then while i was re installing all of the RAZR M Things i installed the Text Messaging App with out backing up the old one first. Now the App is missing in the dock. I used root explorer to go to system app and it is not there.I tried to install the app as a normal program but that did not work.I copied it over with RE and set permissions then installed but not go there also. i have not tried use adb not sure how to use that. I have been reading into it. I am lost i have tried everything i know how to do. Please help me out i am loosing my hair trying to figure out this issue. Thanks in advance. anyone have any questions about this jsut ask and i will give me more info.
Anyone with any ideas be JB on RAZR here.
I did the same thing messing with the Razr M stuff - should have never went after that carrot. Anyway, the only way I could fix it was to flash back to ICS (which does not boot), but you can get into recovery to do a factory reset, and then reapply the JB update. The only problem....you WILL lose root! But at least your phone will be 100% functional.
Thanks for telling me i will try that when a root comes out for JB. I have root now and i am using a 3rd party text app for now. Not ideal but it works
