I pushed local.prop to my rooted .62 XM to update to ICS and root as instructed by puppet13h in this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688980
After pushing local.prop i had problems affecting my Mini, which i posted here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27423564&postcount=99
It could get fixed by deleting local.prop as told by him.
The ICS update still has not come to PCC/SUS and i used my phone often, restarted often till now after pushing local.prop.
Now today after deleting local.prop since pushing local.prop 3-4 days ago, my phone has no sound only vibration. I restarted and factory resetted many times but the sound is not coming back.
After somany failures, i flashed/downgraded to .42 from .62. Still the phone has no sound after downgrading.
No sound when call comes, when music plays, loud speaker too not working.
I think this local.prop has killed by Mini's sound and speaker.
What will i do now?.
I bought my Mini last month and flashed 3 or 4 times for getting root..
Please will someone help.. ?..
even i had a problem using that script ..
but i updated to ics via flashtool..
now everything is working fine

but there is no sound even flashing stock 62.., only vibration is working.
Also when i call, i can hear sound from call speaker, but the back loud speaker is not working..
I am afraid that the sound is gone for ever.....
Update: Opened camera. The usual beep sound(.i.e from speaker) comes before capturing pic. Played a song. Yes, sound comes from speakers. But when the screen locked, music stopped and sound is gone.
Opened camera again. The beep sound is gone too and am unlucky again. No ringtone volume sound, no music, i.e. speaker stopped working.
Cant understand why the problem is still there after flashing new firmware.

had no problem before creating local.prop.
how will this script create a hardware problem?..
lets try and post what you are getting.
push/create /data/local.prop with ro.kernel.qemu=1 on rooted .42 or .62, restart, lock screen and try to unlock...
Also tell about the sound and vibration..

While flashing perform a fully clean install. Clean everything (before starrting remove SD card and SIM card) using flashtool while flashing the ROM.
Report back.
Thanks,

Update: Seems like you did wipe. Remove SD Card and try to use camera. Activatre touch sonds and try taking a screenshot and see if sound is there.

I don't really understand people who don't care about continously flashing 0.42 and 0.62 ROMs but will wait for ICS update to be available on PC Companion...
That method is supposed to be used before flashing ICS. What was the sense of pushing the file if you knew you wouldn't have upgraded yet?
Anyway, let us know if flashing ICS solved the problem
Pushed local.prop and switched off. Removed sim, sdcard and flashed Generic_World_(1249-8388 R2I) ICS with wipe data unchecked. Upon start i pressed volume up button to test sound beep is there. I heard a beep sound once and upon pressing the up button again the sound is no more heard. No sound after reducing or increasing volume.
Very laggy user interface.
Inserted sim and sdcard.
Opened camera and complete darkness (will have to say camera died or is not working). Tried to take screenshot by power+vol down buttons. Showing "couldn't capture screenshot. Storage maybe"...(cant see rest in notifications. tried to rotate. it is not rotating).
My sdcard has 7.3GB space left. Opened music player and played a song. Song plays, no sound.. Sound is gone again..
I must say ICS is lagging fully on Xperia Mini now...316MB free phone memory, 220MB RAM free, but big lagginess.
Maybe a wipe could make it lag less.
WTF is this?. A local.prop file killed my phone's speaker?. Speaker is not working on ICS too...
Why are you pushing local-prop.cmd? Do not push it. Delete it. Factory reset your phone. And then flash the .62 or ICS ROM, wiping everything.
Thanks,
Rick
Anyways, according to the tutorial, you are supposed to run the 2nd cmd file soon after the update is over.

Now am seeing super user.... But my speaker is gone for ever.....i am very sad..

Very bad Smiltron. You did not read properly before doing the things.
There are two cmd files in puppet's zip.
Read my tutorial all over again. I had mentioned "after executing the first cmd of puppet's zip, go for updating the phone right away". I said "DO NOT ToUCH your PhOne after this and flash the ICS ROM".
After the flashing of ICS ROM is over run the second cmd file of puppet's thread right away soon after the phone boots. I had mentioned. You did not read that too.
Read it now. Execute the 2nd cmd now and see if something happens.
Thanks,

"DO NOT ToUCH your PhOne after this and flash the ICS ROM". it was not clear to me whether to update ics suddenly after creating local.prop or when ics arrives. I used, restarted the mobile for some days after creating local.prop.
I came to know about the screen lock problem and sound problem then.
"after executing the first cmd of puppet's zip, go for updating the phone right away" - i did this now.
after creating local.prop, i switched off and flashed and then pushed root files. Now i am having super user rights. What is wrong there?.
see my post above

Right. You edited your post now. Good. You did the rooting process correctly. The whole thing. Good.
Now. Coming to the sound problem. You need audio of your phone back. And you do not care about root. You will owrry about root once sound is back.
Saying that, I will tell you what to do now.
Take out the SD Card of your phone and the SIM card too. And then using flashtool, flash the ICS ROM, clearing everything. See if things are fixed or not. And report back.
Thanks,
Rick
After the update is over do not insert the SIM or the SD Card. See if sound is there for the other components. Like touch sounds. Unlock sounds. Etc etc.

hi all. after flashing the new radio, and then both dasbamf 1.6 and then virusrom, with full wipes in between, my volume rocker button has no effect on the in call volume settings. it's maxed out and i'm going deaf from talking on my phone.
yes i do use my phone to talk to people.....lol
can anyone here help me out? thanks.
If you flash the rom from scratch it should eliminate the volume rocker. It sounds like you might have flashed a back up. Then try flashing the volume rocker again and see if that corrects the issue. I would also wipe everything three times.

Wow. That sucks. You'll have to use adb if the volume buttons are unresponsive. Use the command adb reboot bootloader when you have the rooted stock ruu at the root of your sd card. This should fix everything not to mention start you back at scratch.

It's not that bad. Lol. How did you root your phone? If you used the nine step process then you should already have adb up and running.
I rooted via adb. Cut n paste.. i guess ill try wiping everything manually then reflash the rom.

Just remember you're doing an Hboot not CWM. So you'll want to find the unsigned stock ruu aka PGIMG05.zip file and put that on the root of your SD card. Then run the adb command. Make sure you don't have another PGIMG05 file on your root or you could end up unrooting your phone. Good luck.
**I too flashed from remix to virus and didn't experience this problem. In fact, when I flashed to virus, I didn't have the volume rocker, so I added it and still didn't have any problems. It could have been an unclean wipe which is why your volume rocker stopped working.
volume
I have used BAMF since day one of rooting. I have had the volume since I had the phone =( I updated to the 1.6.3 today... but didnt wipe anything.. just flashed it.. didnt wanna have to reload everything I have on my phone... is there a way I can fix the volume without wiping?
volume
I flashed a new kernal this morning and it fixed my volume problem!! I flashed 4.4.6 with no call recorder!!
After much searching, i found that the issue is with the call recorder. I removed it and viola! I have volume control back. Oh well.....no recorded conversations to get me into trouble. Lol.

My issue was a little different than yours, but removing the call recorder fixed it! Thanks for the research.
I changed from an iPhone 4 in May to the Samsung Note. On my iPhone I would immediately jailbreak and install MyWi. In my research to do the same on the note I ran across a rooting tutorial for my device and followed the instructions http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-att-i717-root-without-increasing-flash-counter-61325/ (I am not positive, but I feel confident this is the one I followed). I installed Superuser and Titanium Backup, did a backup of ATT connection manager, then removed it. Tethering worked like a charm. This has worked and I had no issues until Friday June 14th.
On Friday, everytime I opened an app on my phone I would get a Force Close. I restarted the phone and watched as it repeatedly happened after every cycle. Believing that installing Droid VNC Server was the issue, the last app I had installed, I removed it successfully and included others I didn’t use. Upon reboot, I noticed the notification of App Updates and a missed call. Checked the application list and noticed that all of the apps I had just removed were still there. I have a ton of pics and videos and thought that I should back them up immediately before I deleted them, prepared for the worst. I was able to do that. I deleted them all, nothing in the gallery. When the phone crapped out again and rebooted, all apps and all pictures back.
I formatted the USB Storage, seemed to delete nothing and also showed the same amount of used space as before.
Time for a restore. I know now that the recovery partition is gone and so a Wipe/reset is fruitless. No problem. I know how to flash the rom. I used this method with Odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506330
Everything seemed to work successfully, but upon reboot I get the same app updates notification and the same missed call notification. The same frozen state my phone was in when the issue started on Friday. WTH!
I have everything backed up. How do I get back to stock? I could care less about the counter. I just want my phone to be usable again.

did you try wiping Catche and Dav?
Wipe Catch > Wife Davlik > Fix Permision, then reboot ..
see what happens ..
Not a noob, but here is where i am lost
I booted in to recovery, chose to Wipe/Erase . I see no option to Wipe Davlik except for in SuperUser and there it is a paid option, not sure where to find Fix Permission and then reboot?
I am assuming these are all options for CWM. I attempted to put CWM on an SD card last night and install from ZIP, but Recovery does not seem to see the SD card.
Are these options that are available for CWM, if so I will push through until I get it to work, but I have had no luck to this point.

I have attempted to Flash ROMs I don't desire just to move forward. They all flash and pass in Odin but on reboot I still have my default screen. Unfortunately, I want to go back to stock. I have done plenty of research and need something more to push on to the next thing. I am looking at phone and there is not an Advanced option in recovery. I have read there are options in CWM but I am looking at what I believe is the stock recovery options.

You now have a custom recovery(according to Odin). The problem is, you're doing the wrong key combo as stated above. You can also go to the market and grab FJ's power tool. You can boot into recovery directly from the app. Good luck.

Still having issues. Here is the deal.
I have the phone in Download mode
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dnk6ekjqp9vddev/2012-06-19 19.40.01.jpg
I load the CWM Recovery in the PDA box. Start the flash, get a pass. All looks good to me.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5q4hayf35mm26wr/odin-success.PNG
I immediately attempt to access CWM Recovery by holding the power, vol+ and vol- and still get the default recovery
https://www.dropbox.com/s/d176blydonlvrlu/2012-06-19 20.13.42.jpg
I am so confused as to what I am doing wrong.
Unfortunately those pics aren't loading for me. Try again with the pic of recovery and the file you're flashing. Thanks. If you still have stock recovery then maybe that's what you're flashing in error.
Try volume up + down and power button. When phone vibrates, release power button but keep holding volume buttons until you are in cwm.
I would use Odin to flash cwm touch recovery from pda, then load a rom via cwm. Using that method you don't even need to root because it's all done at bootloader level and root is built in to the custom rom you flash

Wasn't with this phone, but when i used LG GT400 i had some problems as well and it really needed some hardware repairing in the store.
So maybe your phone needs a repairing as well, because in time some things in the phone start to lose it's capacity.
Or, you could change your camera apk and see if it still reboots the system, or it can be something about the SIM card as well because i was told that the problems i had with the LG phone could be because of the SIM card, so maybe a good idea is to change SIM card and take phone to Repair if the camera apk change doesn't work, and if going back to the Eclair Original ( not flashing a backup, not rooting, not having cwm, just flashing the Eclair Original by SEUS ) doesn't work either.
i just opened the phone and noticed that the sim holder tape is a bit cut, not cut at all but i think the wires has contact to each other.
can that problem be from that?
what can i do to be sure that thats the problem so to replace it.....

Hi guys,
I've been using my Sola for over a year now and I like the phone, i got the CM9 build from freeXperia on it (FXP 210 CM 9 PEPPER) with cwm on it and loved it.
Two weeks ago trouble began when the phone was very unreliable, it rebooted several times a day, sometimes I noticed that the phone got very warm when rebooting.
I found out that there was no diskspace left, so I deleted some of the playlists on Spotify that I downloaded and that gave me back about 2 gb of internal room.
Since yesterday some processes where quitting and this happened a couple of times (it was the google media process), this morning after being on the adapter for the night the problem was still there. So I rebooted the phone (normal reboot) and then the trouble really kicked in.
When I boot now I see a message stating "Android is being updated, starting apps" then I see my normal lockscreen and the errors start rollling in.
The only errors I can see are the "android.phone process stopped working" and "NFC service stopped". When I press close on those they keep coming back, so fast I cant't even get past my lockscreen anymore.
On the phone is some very critical data to me, I have to restore that data (its in a encrypted app database). As long as I can save that data and restore it to use when the android/app is restored I'm fine.
Can someone give me advise on how to continue?

Where is that data located? If it's on internal memory in it's own directory it will remain intact if you repair/flash firmware.
EDIT: some other thoughts, try to remove the SIM or switch to airplain mode.
I'm not 100% percent sure where it is located, It's on the internal memory but I'm not sure if where it is exactly. It's a database of an app.
Won't I lose all my files on reflash? Reflash can be done with fastboot right? And I should reflash the firmware (kernel?)? Not the rom itself?
Already tried rebooting with SIM and sdcard out, no luck though.
No luck on connecting to ADB, I tried but USB debugging is turned off and my drivers seem to let me down... I can get connect to fastboot
Other ideas?

Too bad USB debugging is off.
If database is on device memory than it will be lost if you wipe data on flash. If you don't wipe data you may still have those errors, but you can take your chances and try without wiping data.
Yes with flashtool, do you have the FTF file for the firmware you are currently using?
Is it tooted and have CWM on it?
I don't have the FTF anymore, but I know where to find it.
Luckily I have CWM on it.
Do I have to reflash with the zip or just run the update?

I think best is to make your own FTF.
Start repair with PC Companion, and when it finish downloading the files and ask to shut down the phone, stop and create the FTF as explained here.
The FTF can only be flashed with flashtool.
I don't mean to sound rude but why do I want my own FTF?
Do you mean a FTF from the OEM firmware, they can be downloaded from XDA as well.
Or do you mean creating an FTF from the files that are now on my phone?

I've seen a few people hat flashing firmware they download didn't work well for them but flashing with SUS or PCC did.
I'm not twisting your hand, if you rather use FTF you can download somewehere and it works then do that.
Ok so i tried to flash the kernel, the flashing went well but the error persists.
I think it's time to conclude that my data is gone..
It gave me some headaches and I sweared a lot but i got it working again.
I've flashed the boot.img, didn't resolve the issue.
I've updated the same rom over my old rom, didn't solve the issue.
I wiped cache only (to try and see if it would work) and this worked.
So it might have been a cache problem after all.
The updating android thingy was shown again only this time it said it had to update 100+ apps, and it did. After that I could use my phone again.
First things first, lets make a backup .
Thanks ChickeD (i've thanked you on XDA for your help)
This can be marked as [RESOLVED]

I had this, it was related to an init.d mod I flashed Best bet, in all honesty, to keep things simple? Flash KDZ :/ It fixes it. Just make a folder on your phone or a text file in Memo or something to write down what you need to reapply after the flash. It'll work, I promise. Happened to me like twice. Also, your Bluetooth is screwy, I believe GPS has become a tad less pin-pointed, and your Camera might not work. At least that was what happened with mine. Oh, and you randomly lose connection for a few seconds every few minutes. Again, only if you had it the way I did.
Best of luck, Kudos, and God bless!

Absolutely! Wait, which recovery? Go to the LG Mobile Support Tool on the computer, and click Options -> Upgrade Recovery. Then type in your IMEI code (Back behind battery on white slip) and plug phone in with battery and all, and click OK.

i have CWM recovery? would this good?
and also would this get of my root?
yes it will get rid of your root, but the lgpwn method works on 20d, 20f, and 20h, so you're good.
Lgpwn does work with 20h. But it doesn't work for me if I leave Lookout running.
