Sync with Mac OS X - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! How well does a Galaxy S3 play with Mac OS X? I saw that Kies is avaliable for Mac OS X, so syncing multimedia shouldn't be a problem. But are there any problems or missing features I should be aware of?
Thanks, zlayaa

Kies works fine. Or just use android file explorer which is a free download and your phone shows up as a usb and you can drag and drop.
Also Kies allows to sync music pics and videos as well as backup of apps so I guess it does have everything

I think there is also Easy Sync to migrate your possible iOS phone data to your S3. It also enables using one of your iTunes backups.

You can also drag and drop items from iTunes into Kies...movies, music, playlists, etc.
Tapped That

No way, Macs are far superior

I hope it helps. I have posted a way to sync all your music and playlists from itunes into your ext-SD card of your GS3 wired (usb cable much faster than wifi). I have included it into a thread called "why can't sync my music playlist " (samsung Galaxy S III I9300> Galaxy S III Q&A)

What is the best way to transfer files from my Android phone to my Tab 10.1?

I have a Nexus S phone and a Galaxy Tab 10.1. What would be the best way to transfer files between the two devices directly? I've been using Dropbox for the occasional file but I need to move a good number of files quickly. Any ideas or app suggestions?
Get the USB adapter for the Tab, plug in a mulit-card reader, and stick the Micro SD card from your phone in that.
Or just use Bluetooth File Transfer:

For simple, small file it is recommended to use Bump. Its kinda fun and available for other platforms as well.
For larger, quick file transfer, it is up to you to transfer data using usb cable connecting to a single pc. If you have a wifi connection between the devices, you are free to use any wifi transfer software in the market. FTP function come 2nd to that.

If theyre both on wifi, i recommend using an app called websharing. You can turn websharing on on one device and type in the ip of that one in the browser of the other device and access files. Pretty convenient. Been transferring stuff from my vibrant to my gtab with no problems. Not too fast but certainly one of the easiest ways right now
how about dropbox .. check my signature ... thats how i transfer files from tablet to phone to Mac to PC .. etc

I've been using Dropbox as well to transfer albums and large pdfs from Mac/Nexus One to SGT as there's no other way to turn the SGT into a MSD on Mac. Websharing sounds like an interesting way to cut out the middle man. Thanks.

Well, it's quite useful. I was using the trial version from long time. After owning this tab, I upgraded to full version so that I can utilize the multiple files transfer at once. I don't regret my purchase.

Sync game saves between phone and tablet.

I'm currently playing Dead Space and Mass Effect on my android tablet. I'd like to be able to play the games on my phone without having to start over. Does any one know of a good way to sync the game saves between the devices?
Thanks
Steve

I would try Ti Backup Pro, I use it to sync my data saves to my Dropbox or Google Drive, then both device have access to the same data. Install the app normally though just restore the data...Of course both have to be rooted I think to properly save data like that.
Good Luck,
jerems
I've not rooted my phone yet but will do that tonight and give it a try.
Thanks

This is a better solution:
Root both devices
Download DirectoryBind (from XDA)
Install Dropbox (I'm sure you already have it, but if you don't use my link and we both get free space)
Create a link between your dropbox folder and the gamesave folder (so effectively, the save is sent to the dropbox folder instead. Whenever the game looks for the save it thinks it's finding it in the usual location, but instead it's on dropbox)
Do the same for both devices for effortless saving between devices
(I have a similar script setup for my PC game saves )
I finally got round to rooting my phone last night. I gave directory bind a try. I have set it up on the phone and the tablet. everything seems to be syncing fine however the game progress isn't syncing. Am I wrong in thinking that the game saves will be in the data folder for the game? for instance
/sdcard/Android/data/com.ea.deadspace_row/files/published/data
Thanks

Where is the save file located for mass effect? I could not find it in the eagames folder in the android directory. Would it be possible to take the save file from my phone and add it to my tablet for mass effect? I don't need it to sync but i gamed on my phone but now that i have a nexus 7 i would like to do all my gaming there.
any help or suggestions without rooting both? Additionally, a few of my nexus 7s have had screen lifts so I may be getting them replaced with google. I would also be filling to just transfer the mass effect save file from nexus7 to nexus 7
thanks,
Brian

Hi there, first time poster so I'm hoping for good luck
I need to transfer my saved game from my Verizon Galaxy Nexus to my Nexus 7 tablet. This is a one-time only transfer (I don't need to be going back and forth between devices). Is there any way to accomplish this for Deadspace without root and without paying for the pro version of an app?
My other option is to root both devices but I would then have to immediately unroot the Galaxy Nexus (And I'm still not clear on whether there is some secret way Verizon can tell that I have rooted my phone in the past).
Thanks for all your help!

How to sync folders from phone directly to a pendrive?

Thanks for your response. I do use Dropbox but downloading and uploading data consumes battery, takes more time and bandwidth as opposed to backing up on a pen drive.
Dropbox works for me when backup set is small in size.
Any app which can sync to pen drive will be nice

i dont know an app like that but you can use usb on the go http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MICRO-USB-OTG-HOST-MODE-CABLE-For-SAMSUNG-Galaxy-S2-i9100-S3-i9300-NOTE-i9220-/120956157354?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccesories_MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item1c298c7daa
with this you can just plug your usb to your phone an move your files onto the usb no data needed, its quite cheap.

Not true.. Samsung is still supplying Apple with vital chips for their iDevices.. So I'd be careful, what I write.
Download Kies for Mac OS, and then install necessary drivers, then try to sync. If that does not work, there is an app, called AirDroid - Never had problems with it
Hope I could help!

Hi, you can check out SyncMate - it syncs data on Mac with Samsung Galaxy devices (contacts and calendars are synced for free, so you can test it and decide if it is something you were looking for).
Please, note that you will need to uninstall sync tools you have installed on Mac (kies, android sync tool) to ensure the correct work of SyncMate (in fact, if there are more than one sync tool installed, thay can conflict one with another, so my advice is to test each solution separately).
Syncmate +1
works flawlessly even on Custom ROMs. (I am on Syncmate free and CM9)

Fastest app to wirelessly transfer files from phone to PC

I am moving on to a new phone and I need to transfer large files from my phone to my PC using my home network. Actually it's only 3 folders... Whatsapp, Photos and Music but each is about 3gb. My usb connection to my PC is unstable and it randomly drops.
You can try kies air from samsung , I use it daily.
