Keyboard settings/ Predictive text/ My word list.
But when you reboot phone everything will be wiped because of a bug Samsung didn't bother to fix in the update.

Ok thank you for answer.

Unnamed 1.2.0 Swype languages

Is it possible to remove the other languages this time around? On standard Swype, you could simply deselect the languages available in settings. Now, it simply has the option to switch between English and Spanish. I accidentally hit the key sometimes, but never use Spanish--so, any way to remove the option completely?

Would love a solution for this also.

+1 for this request. Accidentally hitting languages I never use is quite annoying.
Hold down on the language button and uncheck Spanish. The language button will still be there, but when you hit it the keyboard won't switch to Spanish... nothing will happen.
Or you could install a different version of Swype.
This is how it used to be, but Unnamed 1.2.0 uses an updated version of Swype which does not have the uncheck ability--only selecting.

? I just did what I suggested on 1.2. You can still unselect languages.

Not sure if you're using a different version of Swype on 1.2, but on mine I most certainly can't uncheck languages. Instead, it shows the green circle to the right, where you simply choose which language you want.

That's exactly how mine looks. Can't get rid of other language either in the swype keyboard via long press or in keyboard settings.

SGS2 keyboard in SGS3?

Hi guys.
I just got the SGS3, and I'm really missing the SGS2-keyboard.
What I'm missing is;
- The possibilty to actually add custom words to the list
- On the SGS2 i held down Q or P or something like that to get a smilies-menu
- The possibilty to put the marker in already written words, and switch alternatives within the suggestions.
Is it possible to get the old keyboard in my new SGS3?
just goto sgs2 forums and ask someone to upload the apk file, download it and install the same on your s3
You can add customs words, press "predictive text" and enter a sub-menu

No luck in the SGS2-forums so far.
WHere do you find this "predictive text"?

Deleting default words out of personal dictionary

Hey all.
Does anyone know of a way to delete a word out of your personal dictionary that came with the phone? I want to delete a name, because my wife spells her name differently. So every time I use speech to text, it spells her name incorrectly.

I don't know if you can easily but I wonder if the personalized recognition feature would learn it if you correct it in voice search enough times.

It's in the options under keyboard and input.

Bump.
Having a similar problem on my N7000, and have found no solution so far.
In Brazilian Portuguese "vc" is the short use for the word "vocĂȘ" (meaning 'you'), but the default keyboard always replace it with uppercase "VC", like it was some acronym for something.
I've tried to add "vc" to the user dictionary, but in the end, the system uses the VC, stored on the system dictionary

Stock Keyboard am I crazy?

Am I crazy or is the Samsung Keyboard garbage? It does word prediction but doesn't auto correct... WTF?!?! Or am I missing something here?

Yel its annoying that there isnt a numbers row but I've got used to long processing the top row in which the alpha characters are shared with numbers.
Its not bad once you get used to it

Yeah I'm used to it too but I feel we are wasting a lot of real estate here on this other keyboard... Maybe smile faces... Hmm there's a good idea

I downloaded perfect keyboard to get autocorrect back but then you lose the ability to use the pen for input
This is pretty crappy on samsung's behalf. A keyboard without autocorrect?

intelinside83 was referring to the lack of a number row on the stock Android 4.2 keyboard. The stock Samsung keyboard is quite different, including the inclusion of the number row.

This really is quite silly of Samsung. The keyboard has auto prediction and in my experience the auto prediction works quite well. The problem is that the keyboard will only input what you actually type regardless of whether or not it's correct. If you want to enter a predicted word you have to tap it yourself. I can't imagine it would be too difficult for Samsung to change the keyboard to favor the top predicted word, which would essentially be auto correct.
I'm still using the Samsung keyboard though because I'm getting along with the Swiftkey flow integration rather nicely.

I'm actually really happy for the number row since I use numbers frequently and it was a pain having to constantly toggle it on/off. And, that auto-correction is disabled as I usually disable it any. Just had to turn off auto-spacing and auto-capitalization because it was wreaking havoc on authenticating into web sites like this one as it was adding a space in-between my password. Good riddance I say...

It is reported that upcoming 4.1.2 (not 4.2) enhancements will include integrated "swyping" functionality into the keyboard so it wouldnt make sense for them not to rectify the autocorrection issue.

Did the stock Sammy JB keyboard in the GS3 have no autocorrect either? Or does that phone still run ICS?
I might just have to switch to Swiftkey or Thumb Keyboard again - but that number row is GREAT - it is hard to turn away from it.
Yeah I went back to the stock samsung keyboard just cuz of the numbers... silly but I'm loving it! Just hooing for auto-correction. Maybe if they dont fix it someone will come out with a 3rd party with numbers!
Tappin from my Marble White Note II
Yup, no autocorrect. I'm using Swiftkey now.
It seems the Samsung keyboard is actually a variation of the swiftkey flow. I wonder if it's something to do with that. The flow part works pretty well and I love the number row

I believe there's a way you can add a nickname for contacts in the contacts app. Maybe it's a name it's having a hard time recognizing?
I have a hard time using that feature as I'm Hispanic and it has a hard time recognizing the Hispanic names I spit at it so I read about that nickname tip. I've yet to try it though.

Yeah I think thats it cause Katie seems to be the only one that works. But here's the catch it says the names like "text dad......" Then it says contact not found I don't have a clue maybe its a setting or they need to send a patch out. Thanks for the feedback

See that in language settings you have kept your native language. For your accent to match your native language should be kept. For example if you are in India you should set your language as 'English India'. Then it should work.
Hit thanks if I have helped you.
Sent from my Micromax A110 using xda app-developers app
But the thing is, I don't have an accent. I was born in the US speaking English. Would setting it to the alternate language so that it can recognize that languages names interfere with regular every day things that I'd say in regular English?
