[Q] Solution to insufficient space? Google Play - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using in my CM9 in my vibrant after a brick and installing a 2.1 rom, I can not downloading more applications after installing some small applications, does anyone have a definitive solution to this problem? Thank you.

I can't tell if you're on cm 9 or 2.1 right now but...
On 2.2 disabling voodoo always worked for me, if you're using it give that a shot.

If you're running CM9 you might be running low on space in your /datadata partition. Tell it not to use it with this command that you can run in terminal emulator:
Code:
su
touch /datadata/.nodatadata
(Had to Google the correct command/what it is myself)

I've been able to get around that by clearing the data for the Market/Google Play Store app.
System Settings -> Applications -> Manage -> All -> (Market/Store app) -> Clear Data.

I played with ics for a few months and never had that issue. The only time I ever have is on 2.2 roms with voodoo. I remember seeing a thread about this a long time ago too, I think it was in the i9000 forums though. Other than that the only time I've had that error before was way back on the g1 when I actually ran out of space lol

This has worked for me on froyo. Google play kept popping up with a space error when trying to download new apps.

[Q] Facebook and Evernote not on market?

Hey Guys I got my G tablet a few days ago installed Vegan and everything is great market seems to work.
But the problem is I cant see a bunch of apps for example Facebook and Evernote.
When I go online and try to install from market. android. com it says my device is incompatible.
Did I do something wrong?
I have the same problem, there are a few apps that don't show up in the market. I'm also running vegan.
Fixed it! I'm sorry I can't point you to the source of this fix, I lost the forum, but here it is from memory:
goto settings -> manage applications
-> Marketplace -> Clear Cache -> Force close (DO NOT CLEAR DATA)
->Google services framework -> Clear data
Launch marketplace and you will get an error
REBOOT and wait for wifi to reconnect
If you get an error, keep try it a few times
Now I can install facebook, dolphin browser, etc...

[SOLVED]Old Android Market after flash -- how do i get the new one back?

I had the new market when i update to 4.1.57, but i wanted root. so i flashed to 4.1.26 then did the retain root thing and updated again to 4.1.57.
but now i have the old market, i cant find a way to update it because the market isn't searchable/updateable like gmail or google maps.
how do i get the new market?
it actually will eventually load up the new one...i dont know exactly why it gives the gray one at start but everytime i flashed or stuck roms on, it would eventually go back to that and about 3 or 4th time on the market it will be the green one.

This is what did it for me:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Find 'Market', force stop, and clear data/cache.
Run Market now and it should be the newer one.

[Q] CleanRom 2.7 & Insufficient Space for Market Download

Short Question:
How do I fix the "Error while downloading (app name). There is insufficient space on the device." with CleanRom 2.7
Long Question/Explanation:
Okay, so I just got my EVO 3D on Sprint yesterday and I rooted (Revolutionary) and installed the CleanRom 2.7. I am having issues downloading apps from the market. When I go to install I get the error "Error while downloading (app name). There is insufficient space on the device." I was wondering if there's a working/confirmed way to fix this permanently. I can clear the market Cache and Data and then download, but I have plenty of space to download in the first place. I'm sure this has already been discussed but I did a search and didn't see anything. I had the error first with Angry Birds and so I went into the storage setting and ran the "Make More Space" option. Then I was able to download Angry Birds, after that I went to download Twitter and got the same error, went directly to the Market under manage apps and cleared the cache and deleted the data. At which point I was able to install Twitter. If anyone knows how to fix this error it would be greatly appreciated. And again, sorry if this has already been posted.

If you're sure you have space on the /data partition, maybe these applications are attempting to install on your sdcard. Does your /sdcard also have sufficient space?
Simple method to check: Settings -> SD & phone storage .. this will list SD card available space and Internal storage available space.
Hope that helps!
Reboot to recovery and wipe dalvik and cache, again.
Also try going to settings/apps/manage apps/market and clear all data and cache.
It could also be the Google Backup/Restore feature. I found that every time I flashed a new ROM, no matter which one it was, and if I signed into my Google account while doing the initial setup on the ROM, it would automatically start restoring my apps from the Google servers. I would then be hit with the insufficient space error whenever I'd try to install a new app.
What I did to fix that issue was after flashing the new ROM, instead of entering in all my account info during setup, I would just skip everything, and get to my home screen. Then hit Menu -> Settings -> Privacy, and make sure the backup, and restore boxes are unchecked.
You can then go into Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & Sync, and then add your Google account and any other accounts you want to sync.
That made the issue go away for me. Hope it helps you too.

[Q] not enough space, though there is plenty

Hey i'm trying to install the amazon app store onto my phone so i can get a few my apps on there.
when i go to install it though it's telling me i don't have enough space and to go make some. well i have 7-8GB free at the moment so that doesn't makes sense.
i can install apps from the play market without an issue though.
This happened after i had an issue with my main speaker not playing sound anymore last night so i reran the Rom installer and it corrected the sound issue but now i can't install this app.
i'm running ViperDNA 2.0.3 s-off
any body have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

You are probably looking at your /sdcard partition, which has about 12GB of space. Apps are installed in the /system partition, which is only around 1826MiB. You can access that space and see what is consuming it via various tools - I use DiskUsage - search for that on the play store and navigate to /system to see what you can clean up.

oh opps forgot to post on here that it's been resolved.
ended up putting a root file explorer on the phone and going to the /data folder and deleting the /app-lib folder and then wiping both caches and running the apk again and that worked for me.
Thanks though!

Strange. You or something has changed settings. Doesn't happen on its own.
Check your default apps and that it is set correctly:
Settings>>>App Management>>>>Default App
Check Phone is set to "system default". If not go into the list and select.
Hope that works.
If not...looks like a factory reset or update via recovery
Had the same issue.
I fixed it by going into "Settings>>>App Management>>>>Default App" and then change the System Launcher back to the default one that comes with the phone. I was using Microsoft Launcher before. Then, find the Phone Manager app and run it.
This is absolutely stupid. No idea why you can't run the same app in a different launcher. Oh well.
hii
a common issue
Sometimes the phone manager App doesn't come pre-installed, install it from play store.
For me, I clicked phone manager and then a message came out: Error 101. What is that?

A quick search helps:
Solve Error Code 101 in Google Play Store
The error 101 occurs due to the memory issue, which can be ROM / SD-card storage / Cache memory. But this error mostly gets solved by deleting some unused apps or by freeing the SD card memory.
Solution 1: Free memory card space by deleting unused Apps or content. Also, free up the Phone internal storage. It should solve the problem.
Solution 2: Remove the Google Account and open the Play store again and log in.
Solution 3: Uninstall Play store Updates Go To Settings Select Manage Applications or APPS Manager Tap on ALL Scroll and Look for “Google Play Store” Clear Cache and Data Click on Force Stop Select Uninstall Updates Reboot you phone and try again
Solution 4: Clearing cache and Data for Google Apps Go to Settings Select to Application Manager or Apps Under All , look for Google Services Framework Clear Data Cache and Click Force Stop NOW do the Same With Google PLAY STORE, Google Play Services, Download Manager Reboot your Phone, it should be working fine now.
