Just got a new HTC Evo 4G LTE. I love it but was complaining to a friend that I wish HTC had implemented some kind of "Siri-like" service the way Samsung was with its Galaxy S3. He suggested I try Vlingo.
I downloaded the app but it doesn't seem to be able to connect to any of my apps. It opens just find and it recognizes my voice but, after I finish talking at it says "THINKING," it makes the sound like it understands what I want it to do but then goes back to the main menu screen. It's the same thing when I engage car mode. It will respond to "Hey Vlingo" and appear to hear my voice commands but never actually engages any apps.
I get the feeling that I'm missing something really obvious...

Ok, now that I've had my phone for like 5 days. I am wondering how to do a couple more things to it.
First off, I got this used and it was completely as it would be from Sprint. Since then I've done the following.
1. Installed WM6.1 Update from Sprint
2. Installed Picture Mail Feature from Sprint
3. Installed Oxios memory app
4. Installed HTC Home Plugin
5. Installed S2U2, S2P, S2V
6. Samsung Omnia 3d Driver
7. Kaiser 10 button comm manager
8. Google Maps
I'm sure there might be a couple insignificant ones I am forgetting.
What I want to do, if possible is...
1. Make favorite contacts screen in HTC Home Plugin act differently. Right now if you push one of those contacts it goes directly to calling them and starts dialing. At the least I'd like to make it NOT auto-dial.
Ideally, I'd like them to link to the screen you get when you browse to them thru contacts, where you get a choice to call or text them.
I'd definitely settle for it not auto dialing though.
2. S2u2 I am having a slight issue with, when I receive a phone call, s2u2 bugs out. The screen flickers back and forth from the s2u2 screen and the today screen, and I can't unlock the phone to answer the call. I can only hit the talk button to answer it.
I'm running the latest version, are there any compatibility issues I might be running into.
3. Lastly, I am always looking for good suggestions on other applications to add. If anyone knows where I can find a good texas holdem game like the iphone has, that'd be cool.
What is the Sprint picture mail feature you speak of? It is an official release from sprint???
And I've had trouble with s2u2 as well. I just stuck with version 1.18. That seems like the most stable one for me.

my phone just got real bad to the point it would freeze when i tried to reply to texts. I never had an issue until I installed and used the no2chem nueled thing to get rid of the constant blinking light...wonder if that messed with it.
I ended up re-loading the htc wm6.1 sprint rom.
I couldn't figure out what else to do there.
Sprint picture mail is available from sprint, the default sprint page that loads when you open IE has a link to look for new applications, then its in the free/demo section.

Google maps navigation option works fine for navigation purposes, arrival times and stuff, not really sure about the voice texting option since I never really payed any kind of interest into that.
Google Now. But not entirely hands free when using Sense. I tested it on CM9 and it recognized Google and did a search. And you can text straight from it.
Try Vlingo in the Play Store. It's allows you to navigate and it reads messages aloud to you and then you can reply by voice. I don't use it daily because my drives are usually short but for long drives when I mount my Amaze with my dock, it works well. The only thing that bothers me is you can't play your music while Vlingo is on.
When I open a photo in gallery and touch 2 htc ones back to back my phone gives me the option to touch to beam and my wifes phone says it is accepting the beam however it does not actually do anything and the beam eventually fails. I called HTC and they say that there phones do not have the function to beam photos although the phones clearly do it just fails, I thought this was a feature of jelly bean? Sounds like they're making excuses....I can beam contacts, If i have an app open and she doesn't have it it goes to the play store link, i can beam browser pages, I can beam things like settings pages or places within the user interface but i cant send photos.....I know there are third party apps I can use but i shouldn't have to.
Anyone else having this issue contact HTC (8664498358) and let them know this is not ok. they answer immediately and are very nice and willing to take feedback, almost to the point to sound like the phone was released with unfinished software....sad to say...the last lady I spoke to said they are still taking feedback and working on problems....wow...She should have kept her mouth shut about that....This phone shouldn't have problems...
I beamed a photo to my sister's Note 2 fine but it failed when I tried with my friend's One X. :-\

I'm getting pissed of this. I have Both iPhone and Android. Besides using a few apps on my iPhone, I pretty much only pick it up when I need to use Skype. Why? Because no matter what I do, it won't QUIT Skype!
Sorry if I sound rude, but let me explain:
On iOS, when you're on a Skype call you get a nice red bar on the top of the screen showing that you're on a Skype call. You may open no matter how many apps, your Skype call will still be going on.
Now on Android.. oh things change. Open up Skype, start a call, open up let's say, 4 apps, back and forth and BOOM Android quits Skype. WHY?
How can I make Android NOT quit Skype, under any circumstance at all? I tried to set the priority of the Skype proccess to -20, which is the top priority, and it still quits Skype.
Is there any hope??? Sometimes I can't use my iPhone for calls.
I have a Rooted Galaxy S5 4.4.2.
One of the most frustrating things that I've encountered on my new phone is this noise canceling feature. I've discovered that this feature only kicks in when I make phone calls with the built-in mic. For instance, when I record a sound file or send a voice message via WhatsApp, there is no problem. Or when I make a phone call with my earphone which has a mic, there is no problem either.
Now I know that this feature is there for a reason. It's there in order to get rid of all the background noise such as car noises when you're in a busy street etc. But I would like to disable it because when I hold my phone even just like 1 cm away from me, it doesn't pick up my voice properly. People that I call say "I can't hear you, what are you saying?" and stuff like that.
I've heard from some people that this feature can be disabled. In some devices, there is an option to disable it. However, mine doesn't have that option. So I guess I will have to do a little tweak into the system.
I don't want to root because it's a new phone. I want to get all the updates (plus, it's in Android One project so I get Android updates every month) and I don't want to break the warranty. But I guess this will require some root enabled. I'm no expert, but I guess there is a way to do things without rooting like... Fastboot and adb? I don't know, I gave some permission to WakeLock Detector and GSAM Battery Monitor through adb (or fastboot, I don't even know which one, it was a command prompt thing). So I was thinking maybe you know a code or something like that to disable that feautre. Something that I can write to cmd like "disable Noise.Canceling".
If you know a way to do this without rooting, with adb/fastboot please let me know. Or if you know how to do it that absolutely requires root... Then maybe I can consider rooting my device because it's really something that I would like to get rid of.
I'm using General Mobile GM5 Plus (Android 7.1.1 Nougat, Stock Android - it pretty much feels like it's Google Pixel)
Thank you in advance for all your help!
