I've got a corporate email app (Good for Enterprise) that my administrators have locked from running on rooted devices. Despite my protestations that rooting is not evil, they don't want me to run it unless I am stock. So.... is there any way to "hide" the root? Its incredibly annoying to be forced to choose between root and email access

I believe in Launcher Pro, you can hide Icons without uninstalling the app. May be an idea?
Yeah but the program itself is detecting if the device is rooted Was hoping there was some way to sandbox the app or something to make it not think it was on a rooted system. Thanks though!
They have an app that detects root access and reports back?
Couldn't you just deny it root access when it asks for permission?

Good idea! Then hide Superuser if need be.
That sucks but I can appreciate their decision not to compromise their security. Someone came on here asking how to physically remove his camera for work related purposes. What a bummer!

I assume it checks every time it's launched not just once.
I did deny it root but it still saw it. It does seem to check on every launch also.

I myself am looking for the same thing for the DX. GFE checks at launch or at anytime it wants. There is no way to tell when it will check. I do know if I remove root with Z4 app it works fine while leaving the SU icon in the apps. This tells me it looks for either permissions or something else.
I have offered $$ for a work around to JRummy but havent heard back from him
You can't "hide" root. It's not an app that's installed, and I doubt anything that's checking for root access is checking for just superuser.apk. "root" means you have the su binary in your /system directory, and this is likely what it's checking for. You can't "hide" it without breaking every app that needs root to function.
Surely someone must know what GFE checks????

It checks for root access no way to deny it, except for removing root. Their is a reason why GFE checks for root because in order for your phones to be secure you actually dont want root, if you lost your phone with root on them and secure corporate emails the attacker would only have to plugin in the phone to the computer and run ADB to get all your passwords
Get yourself a friend in the IT department.

Is it possible to pull the new Google Wallet .apk that works from the new OTA update 1.22.651.3 and using it on the old stock 1.13.651.1? If so, has someone pulled and posted this apk?
The one from the new OTA isn't new it asks you to update soon as you sign into google and tap on the playstore.

The issue was not with the App, it was with the NFC Chip, a new app won't do any good and it's not something you probably want to mess with, potentially bricking the NFC Secure element.

So what are my options if I am on Stock 1.13, NOT rooted, and have previously activated Google Wallet, but now only get the "Wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile network" message every time I start it?
Ideally my goal is to not brick the NFC Chip and become S-Off.
So does this mean we no longer have to clear wallet settings everytime we flash a rom?
I assume OP, that you will have to figure out how to edit your build.prop or whatever a rom like meanrom did to get wallet working so that you can log in and clear the settings before flashing the current fixed rom.
You should be able to root your phone without it resetting your phone I think but I may be wrong. I can't remember if rooting using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671577 factory resets you. You can worry about unlocking your bootloader later.
You may have to just take a risk and hope you don't brick anything. In this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28619615#post28619615, Captain_Throwback states it is not really confirmed what or why that bricking happens. He seems to be pretty smart about this kind of stuff too.

I think they're coming from the Stamina feature. I got them a lot for the first few days after i started using the ZU, but i haven't gotten them in the last 4 weeks, and i didn't do anything about it.

Ah, that might explain it. I'm on 257 (latest firmware), and i haven't seen it again. Sony might have noticed it too and removed it in the latest firmware. Be aware that if you want to update - and if you're currently rooted, install OTA Root Keeper from the Play Store before you update through OTA. If you're not rooted and not interested in rooting, then just update as usual.
C6833? It's not showing me any updates available.
It should show an update if you connect your ZU to Sony Companion on your computer, but you'll lose root if you update it that way. If you want to update OTA, you'll have to change your CDA in build.prop to a country that has received the update OTA. I still don't know if you're rooted, so just connect your device to your computer and install Sony PC Companion from Sony's site. It should say that an update is available. If you're rooted and want to keep root, then change your CDA and update OTA, or wait until you get a notification that says an OTA is available.

Huh.. You're in the UK, which isn't exactly Antarctica, and i believe i've read about people in the UK getting the .257 update, so i'm not quite sure what's going on. BUT, since you're rooted and i guess you want to keep root, change your CDA to a country that has received the OTA update. I don't know which countries, but i bet you'll be able to get some help in the 257 thread (here in the Q&A section, right below this thread). After you've changed the CDA, open SuperSU and choose "Survival Mode" (or something like that) in its settings, or install OTA Root Keeper from the Play Store.

Its not a problem, I don't use that feature
edit I can confirm that trying to select stamina mode after doing this will cause System UI to FC. I'll report back tomorrow if it stopes all the annoying power management tips.
came here to ask the same Q. it keeps asking me to "consider enabling stamina mode" and no option to never ask that annoying question again.
i already froze eco mode controller a few days ago but it still pops up (when the alert shows, go to app info for that task and it shows eco mode controller). how is it still working if it's frozen?
might just remove the damn thing
I use Stamina, so that's not my issue. My issue is that it says that I should disable WiFi when I'm not using it or something. It tends to pop up when I haven't used the ZU for a couple of hours.

Yep, been getting it all day. Seems to be coming from KNOX app that cannot be uninstalled. I have notifications turned off, too. Doesn't matter that I did the "update" or hit cancel. Google+ posters are saying its' a known bug.

Yeah i got rid of it with wanam xposed. You need to have preserved root and install xposed framework, which works perfectly so far by the way.
Edit: in security hacks section, disable know notifications.

This. I lost my root a couple updates ago and I'm still getting the security notification all the time. It's annoying and I don't want to install whatever software it's pushing on me because I don't know what it is and don't think I need it.
From what I have been reading, if you try to install what it's pushing, it will tell you that it's already up to date. If posts I have seen can be believed, Samsung knows there is a problem and is supposedly working on a fix. Seems to be tied to connecting to different WiFi networks. I don't have the problem, but my wife does, strangely enough.

Fixes and Question
I second the Wanam disable notifications method. However, I am a bit concerned that KNOX is actually preventing some system actions. For instance, Greenify was not able to hibernate a couple of apps on boot. Aside from the Wanam method there are several other options:
Play Store Option: Here
Terminal Emulator Option: Here
Titanium Back-up Option: From Driod Views
Open TB when it is installed and freeze the following apps:
com.sec.enterprise.knox.attestation
com.sec.knox.eventsmanager
KLMS Agent
KNOX
Knox Notification Manager
KNOX Store
My question is, what are the disadvantages to the methods that actually disable KNOX and not just notifications? Am I putting data at risk, and will I lose any other functionality?
Cheers!

As far as I know, this only happens if you still have partial root files or root-using apps or their data left on your phone after flashing a data-preserving wipe file with Odin.
To clarify, if you had ME7, for example, and had root, BusyBox/Terminal Emulator, and the like, and used a Odin image modded to not wipe data, then youd be left without root, but with apps still trying to get root. SuperSU would still have these apps in its list, and theyd query it for root access, and could not get it. The notification says its trying to access system, because the root file would be in system.
Also, if you had Triangle Away and had it set to periodically try and reset the flash counter to say Official, it would keep trying to access system, but SELinux wouldnt let it.
The only fix Ive found is to do a factory reset.

Well, if you dont mind doing another wipe, try the emergency recovery ODIN file, found here
If you never had root before on that device, maybe you had some app that can utilize root, or maybe you have an app using device admin rights? Lookout Antivirus requires admin or root access for some features, do you have any apps like that?

I'm not going to wipe it again. Samsung said this is a known bug and they are pushing through a fix, so I'll try to be patient. The only app I have is Avast Antivirus. This seems to be related to Knox that Samsung included in the update. So that is on here too and cannot be disabled.

Avast is not related to Knox at all. No apps are related to Knox unless they have the small yellow lock icon on the bottom right corner. However, if Avast has that lock icon, it will only work in Knox mode, and will only scan files created while in Knox mode.
I cant make you do anything, but I strongly recommend that you wipe the phone again, especially since the only app you have is Avast so far. I only factory resetted, and while that did stop the notifications for me, it didnt fix the bug itself. Now my phone shows a counter of 2 in the bootloader, even though I never flashed any unofficial ROMs.
Just because Samsung says its a bug and will send out a fix doesnt mean you can rest easy. Thats like having a gas leak, and the company tells you dont worry, we will send you a patch to plug the hole. Yeah, youll have it plugged eventually, but for now your house is gonna fill with gas, and then its gonna explode. Im just looking out for you in the future. I doubt you would want to lose your warranty so soon.

I appreciate your concern. For some reason, I stopped getting the notifications, for now. I've done some further research. Avast has no lock icon. I went into download mode and determined that I have not lost my warranty. I don't want to factory reset because I don't believe it will resolve the issue as it is a bug within Knox, and because it takes me way too much time to customize my phone. I have approximately 100 apps, Avast just happens to be the only one under administrator. When I factory reset it after the ota, I did it multiple times anyway. From what I've been reading, this is happening on both rooted and stock devices.

I assume you have your stuff backed up....
I softbricked my S4 once and I was all but ready to submit a warranty claim and get it replaced then I tried one last thing which was the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant....you know the software that shows up as a drive when you plug your phone in via usb on your pc......well I went into that and told it to do the recovery thing which wiped the phone totally clean........and when the phone restarted I jumped for joy when it displayed the Android Widget with a progress bar on the screen when it was REINSTALLING 4.3 .
Something along those lines would be worth a try if you got your stuff backed up and you are not worried about loosing any root.
I am pretty sure it was the Verizon Software Upgrade assistant and NOT Samsung KIES (which I had installed also.)
You see I have removed them both from my pc and want to make sure I give accurate information so I want to BE CLEAR that there is a chance it was KIES that I used.
Someone on here should respond to confirm which one does what it did for me...wish I was 100% sure and because I am not I don't want to say for sure which one it was......BUT IT WAS ONE OF THEM and like I said the Android Animation showed up with a progress bar when it rebooted which is the same thing one sees when installing an OTA update.
I hope this helps. I know how it is to be in computer hell or the equivalent.
Just me $.02 worth.
