[Q] Stock Rom Nandroid Restore Boot.img - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've a Desire S, S-ON running CM7, hboot 2.00.002 GRJ90 GB 2.3.5, and would just like to know if it's ok to flash the boot.img found in the nandroid backup of my stock rooted rom (after the restore). Or do I perhaps have to find another one?
If in case I need another, there was a dropbox link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616741 [Collection | 1.26 & 1.28] Fastboot Pack v1.2 but 1st) I'm in China ATM and dropbox is blocked so can't download it and 2nd) I wouldn't know/don't understand what 1.26 or 1.28 are or how they correspond.
Any advice is appreciated
*EDIT* I tried flashing the within nandroid boot.img, Failed to boot, extracted signed_boot.img from compatible RUU(albeit older HBOOT) Failed again. I have searched but can' find a stock boot.img for my ROM.

The normal way I did with all roms 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' in bootloader message is sent OK. I have no problem flashing, the Boot.img is wrong

do you have the rom zip file that u are running? in that if you unzip it ull find boot.img you can use that for fastbooting

Did you follow globatron's guide for Honeycomb and s-off?
If so, why didn't you just flash the ROM zip file in recovery?
Edit: Okay, I see, did you flash the ROM zip first, then fastboot flash the boot image?

If you get into problems with ROMs/flashing, it is essential to include your hboot version in the information you give. Without this nobody can tell you how to proceed.

first i hope you made a back up via clockwokmod or twrp and have it saved... the saved backup will have a boot.img file in there, extract that file and put it in the same folder as your fastboot file... then boot into your hboot and load up fastboot and then plug in the data cable so it should now say fastboot usb after on your computer in a terminal window type in
fastboot flash boot boot.img
that should restore your boot.img file so it doesnt loop...

Open the zip file of the ROM with winRAR. Copy the boot.img from it to your fastboot folder(folder which you have used while rooting your phone. It should have files like fastboot.exe, adb.exe etc). . Now boot your phone in bootloader (vol down+power button).
select fastboot. Connect to PC. Now open up Command prompt and navigate to your fastboot folder in command prompt. Type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" . Then reboot your phone.

He is still on leedroid ROM with stock kernel . As he had not used the fastboot method before, his kernel is still the same meaning kernel from leedroid ROM isnt flashed to his phone. So flashing stock kernel again will not work.
alot of ROMS are built with stock kernels
it worked and yes im useing Lee Droid_3D_GSM_v5.3.0 and the kernal is LeeDroid_Evo-3D-GSM_v5.3.8-1..89GHz.in all my flashing this was the first time i got a bootloop and it drive me crazy man what would i do without you guys thanks thanks thanks

If you are flashing a ROM that contains the same kernel as your current one, then you can flash the rom.zip directly from recovery as if you are s-off. No fastboot, no flash image gui needed if kernels are same.
jslim28 was facing bootloop issue and the reason was a different kernel.
If leedroid ROM contains a stock kernel, he would not have faced bootloop at all.
I found out what went wrong I flash warms Rom and I found out that its a multi device ROM and it contains three kernels and I flashed it using GUI app and it flashed so i didn't like the ROM at all and i decided to go back to my daily driver and that's when i found out that it completely wiped my boot.IMG when flashing back to Lee's ROM so if your using the GUI app to flash the kernel be very careful and if the ROM contains three kernel's it doesn't let you choose which kernel you want to flash it choose for you and that's knot good

Nope, flash through fastboot mode. Copy .img file to fastboot folder and open cmd there, then type : fastboot flash boot boot.img ( boot.img is the name of .img file )
Kernel on the latest CM rom (137) is provided in .zip file. Remember that this kernel (boot.img) is flashed last, after wiping & installing Rom successfully

Rooted HTC one x+ using wrong rootboot version and lost signal and wifi

Hi,
I just rooted my HTC One x+ using RootBoot for Software number 1.14.401.16 and i had completely forgotten that I upgraded to 1.17 today
I lost my signal, wifi isnt working and it was stuck on the HTC logo for a while but its unbricked now. I still have no signal or wifi though.
Does anyone know if there is a new rootboot version?
Cheers
flash the kernel from your custom rom

So, you have a recovery installed, either CWM or TWRP? Why do you want to keep the stock ROM?
Use the All in One tool from Hasoon or follow the guide for the original One X that explains how to set up the fastboot folder on your C: drive, then flash one of the above mentioned recoveries for the X+ via fastboot, then flash the boot.img of a ROM you'd like to try, also via fastboot and then flash a custom ROM from recovery. But first make sure that you download a custom ROM.zip and transfer it to your phone as unlocking will have wiped your SD card.
Or you can just root your stock ROM, for that you need the Super User tools, so after unlocking, flash one of the recoveries for the X+ via fastboot, power up phone, copy Super User tools to SD card and flash them in recovery!
Make sure that you understand what you are doing. Reading first is mandatory!

You need to flash the boot.img inside the Rom.zip that you download. Put the whole .zip on your SD card, boot into bootloader, select fastboot, hook up the phone, point to the folder your fastboot files are located and you dropped the boot.img, open a cmd window, and type
cd c:\fastboot and enter, then
fastboot erase cache and enter
fastboot flash boot boot.img and enter
fastboot erase cache and enter
Unplug cable, select hboot/boot recovery, select, then inside recovery install zip from SD card, don't forget to select the wipe option in the aroma installer...
The whole process takes like 20 mins, including download of the ROM, copying the boot.img into the fastboot folder (make sure there is only one boot.img in there...the one you want/need), flashing the boot.img, flashing ROM in recovery and booting up (which takes like a few minutes)
Hope this helps

Just to make sure http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34173694 is the CWM recovery for the X+ or use the TWRP recovery found in the Android Original Dev section...and please, use the search button, read, understand and ask if you don't, and then a hit on the thanks button is appreciated

I am in a same problem ase I flash my ARHD 6.2 Rom and after the Oxp_elitekernel_130119, all work but my data connection is not stopped when screen is in sleep mode...
Is Oxp_elitekernel_130119 works fine with ARHD 6.2 ROM ?

If you can access your phone via fastboot then you can revive it pretty quick.
If you cannot, then...... no need to say it
here are the steps to follow if you can use fastboot:
first of all you should prepare your files; you need the drivers for the device, adb and fastboot executable files, a ROM of your choice with the proper boot.img. Once you got those put them in one folder and proceed.
enter bootloader mode (volume down + power)
select fastboot mode
plug your usb cable to your PC
open a cmd window and navigate to your fastboot directory and execute this command: fastboot flash boot boot.img
now you should push a downloaded ROM to your internal sdcard with this command: adb push *here your ROM name.rar or .zip* storage/sdcard0/
if you get an error of not copying, the add a folder for example storage/sdcard0/Download/ or storage/sdcard0/DCIM/
then you can enter recovery and flash your ROM, you should do a wipe and install, then wipe cache and then reboot.
This should put your phone to work with whatever ROM you install, then to get to stock is another process which includes relocking the bootloader.
Please update so I can give you any more help.
NOTE: any rom you download should be compatible with your CID, check it via fastboot with this command: fastboot getvar cid. Also try to download ARHD from mike1986, in his thread you can find compatible CID. If not try to look for a rom compatible with your CID
Hello JoHnGr0n3,
i have same problem.
in phone was stock ROM, unlock bootloader, TWRP 2.6.1.0 (no nandroid backup )
After installing the official update 4.2.2. cant reboot system only white screen with HTC logo
i tried flash Revolution ROM with yours tutorial...
flash via fastboot
boot.img copied and flashed - OK
but i cant copied any file to "SD" card i used command: adb push Revolution.zip storage/sdcard0/DCIM and wrote me: error device not found
any ideas how to copy ROM on storage?
ENRC2B_U
CID: 032
HBOOT: 1.35
Im sorry for my bad English
If you have a zip (rom) file on your pc you can ADB sideload it. and pull out the boot.img of the rom. install the rom. read the fourth post of this
