Anyone else having this issue? I can send MMS just fine when i get a data signal. Also calls and SMS are working great over wifi calling....just cant seem to send a MMS.
I use Handcent and have no problem.
Have this issue too
I have this issue as well, when WiFi Calling is activated I cannot send or receive MMS messages.

I think is the way the tmobile sets it up to turn of the wireless radio but wifi, I seem that on my one s, but if you use another app im like Handcent it uses it wifi so you dont have the problems, again thats my experience on one s, Im waiting for my galaxy s 3 still

Really? I never had the problem while texting

Unfortunately this is an issue, but I don't know if the blame can be placed on TMobile, as the stock messaging app will allow me to send an MMS over WIFI. The reason being is that MMS is sent using the carrier's data connection. With the stock app, while using wifi, it disconnects from the wifi connection just long enough to send the MMS. However, when using a third party, it does not register and therefor isn't sent until you disconnect from the wifi or resend through the stock app.
Works for me bro. But then again, my data is always on...

This is a pretty crap issue.
I have no damn signal in my house (even though I really should), so Wifi Calling is a godsend (even though it likes to randomly turn off).
But I've got five MMS pending download because of a group text, and I can't reply. I would have to go up the street to get them.
I'm on Verizon and have the same problem. Only solution to sending and receiving is to clear data, but have to do that every time i send or receive an MMS on stock. tried Go SMS and Handcent, and get the same issues.

This worked for me at work and at home. Just need to do this for every wifi access point you use. I found this on Rootzwiki.
Long press on your Wifi connection
Press "Modify Network"
Scroll down to IP Settings and change that from "DHCP" to "Static"
Scroll down to DNS and enter the following information:
DNS 1 - 8.8.4.4
DNS 2 - 8.8.8.8
Press Save
REBOOT YOUR PHONE! This is important.
I would love to be able to send SMS through my WiFi because I get crap signal in my room.... is there a WiFi calling app for att?

Randomly this evening, my phone has decided that it no longer wants to send any MMS messages. I can send SMS messages just fine, but MMS messages do not go through. They sit for a while, and then it just says that the text message cannot be sent.
Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve factory resetting?

You have 2 options.
1)do master reset and retest it.
2) call your cell carrier.
I had a similar problem a few nights ago. All I had to do was reboot it.
That's all I need to do for a few random glitches.

Will it be the APN settings problems?
In some country you have to set your mms APN manual
Mine does the same thing. A restart is only a temporary fix because it has done it again a day later or so. I have not found anything to fix it yet.

Try this on dialpad
*#*#4636#*#*
Wacth phone services
Then tap second right update buttom
It must be filled with Service Center Number, for sms/mms data. If you get 'update error', you may have a bug in system that prevents it from correctly setup of older sim cards (mostly cutted ones), if so, buy a new micro sim. It's cheap and solves a lot of small problems
Thanks, and if helps any way, share the learnin'

I had the same issue, tried a number of things to fix it. Called Verizon and apparently it's a known issue that they expect to be fixed with the upcoming GB update. Other than that the only way I was able to workaround was installing Go SMS Pro, which sent MMS messages fine.
I figured out what the problem is! It stems back to the problem the Razr has with switching between 3G and 4G. In my house, I have to use WiFi because I live on the edge of a 4G service area. I get maybe one bar of 4G service, which without WiFi, pretty much refuses to do anything having to do with data. Apparently, even though WiFi is enabled, the MMS messages are NOT being transmitted over WiFi. So instead, it attempts to send them over 4G cellular data and fails because of the poor reception in my house. Switching the phone from CDMA/LTE to CDMA only before sending the messages (my signal reception jumps to 4 bars) allows it to send without failing.

I learned that when I had my Atrix 2, so thats not the problem....APN is set to the stock settings, have not been messed with at all. Stock messaging app is the same, will send but wont receive mms. I got a call from an AT&T tech in Atlanta today telling me they have rectified the network issue. We tried it again but still no go, he said it sounds like I have a defective device cause everything in my account is set how it should be, no more network issues bit the problem remains. Gonna swap it out this evening.

the problem may be when using the stock SMS app it may not send over wifi. when you're connected to wifi the phone defaults to sending everything it can via data that can be sent. are you using the stock SMS app?
i just tried to do it with stock SMS and the second i went to attach a photo, it disconnected my wifi to grab 3G/4G to send the photo. once it was done, it jumped back on wifi
Cell tower issue....low signal issue? Dont contact Samsung until you try your phone in other places. Drive...if your old enough down the road like 5 miles...see if the mms goes through. Call Verizon and see if they are having issues with that tower.

MMS messages never traverse the "internet" which is the reason why A) it cannot be sent/received over WiFi and B) using VZW data cannot be circumvented.
My wife has had the GS4 for a couple of days and ran into this yesterday. She tried sending me a picture but didn't notice that it didn't go. She asked my son if I rec'd the picture and showed him and obviously I didn't so she sent it to him as well. That's when she realized the one to me was still "Sending...". His never went either. When she tried to send to me, she was in a store and probably NOT on WiFi (unless it was "open").
This morning, she asked about it and I told her "turn off WiFi" but that didn't kick it in. I then tried sending her a picture (a trick I learned on the Thunderbolt with AOSP ROMs) - when her phone toggles off WiFi to receive mine, it should also see pending, outgoing messages on hers and send it. Didn't work....
I then used Handcent SMS and chose "Edit" on each message, did NOTHING to them, and hit Send - and they went. WiFi was ON as well. She also sent an MMS moments later that went.
Even if it were a "tower" issue, she should have come along to multiple other towers while out driving.
I uninstalled the caller id app, and that solved this.
Isn't that a system app ? I haven't rooted her phone (yet)...

Yes, but it is deletable. My wife's not rooted either.
I cancelled the trial in the app then went to Application Manager and instead of the "Uninstall" button, it was a "Disable" button. I hit it, nothing obvious happened, but the app is gone from the app drawer now.
Still Not working
I have disabled the Caller ID app and still no go. I see the 4G icon pop up when i go to send, then it disappears and the MMS message just sits there, never sends. Does anyone else have any suggestions or ideas to solve this?

Yes we know MMS does not utilize the internet via wifi. Yes, we know MMS must travel over your carrier's cellular data connection.
While connected to wifi, with the 4g/3g Icon NOT showing, this issue comes up. You go to send an MMS, the 4g/3g Icon pops up for a short time, say 30 seconds, and then disappears. But the message never sends. If I turn wifi off, MMS then send flawlessly, sitting in the exact same spot I was previously. Signal strength is not an issue, or it would not work without fail when wifi is off in the same location, and then suddenly stop working when Wifi is back on.
A third party SMS app did not mitigate the issue for me. Which has been suggested by some as a solution.
Can anyone provide any additional insight on this issue? VZW tech support is a joke.

Hi,
I have T-Mobile. Using an HTC One.
I belong to several MMS groups, where both iPhones and Android phones are involved. For about 6 months, group MMS was perfectly fine, never had an issue.
For the past month, whenever I send a message to the group, I have a 5% success rate of the message actually being displayed properly for everyone. Everyone keeps telling me my messages are blank. Or it will send multiple blanks. I keep getting sh*t from all of my friends telling me T-Mobile sucks and whatnot. "Get an iPhone, get Verizon." Very frustrating hearing this every damn day. It's really starting to piss me off.
Regular SMS is fine. And any messages sent to the group I can see perfectly fine as well. But sending messages isn't working right! Group MMS is very flakey using the stock app! I don't understand what's going on. T-Mobile doesn't seem very helpful.
Is this happening to anyone else? How do we resolve this? Does anyone work for T-Mobile here? This is getting out of hand.
This is NOT the phone. I have wiped it so many times, tried so many different ROMs. It was perfectly fine and started working improperly out of nowhere. No changes, nothing.
I am not the only one!

Apparently it's affecting all T-Mobile users and not just our device. See here for more info:

Same problem. This ALL started when I installed the new Hangouts and enabled SMS. Maybe it messed with something?
Anyway, here's something interesting i've found out.
I get a group MMS from multiple devices. When I send the group MMS, android phones "receive it" (on Tmobile/Att carriers), iPhones "reject it" (Tmobile/Att carriers), and WindowsPhones receive "blank" message. Weird.
I had a problem with picture messages. Checking the "delivery reports" under the mms settings makes this problem disappear for me. Try that!

WiFi calling shuts off the data radio which MMS needs to send messages. I've sent MMS while on WiFI and I will see my LTE signal turn on to send the message. Maybe WIFi calling completely kills the radio which won't allow a message to send.

I currently have a phone and VPN connection as described above. It connects and works great. The issue I am having, and have searched xda and google for the answer, is that when the VPN is connected everything works fine, except MMS. The APN is correct, per T-Mobile's website. I can send and receive MMS without the VPN connected. The moment I connect to the VPN my MMS in and out fail. I have read on Cisco's website that android has something blocking MMS when connected to VPN.
So, my question is: Is there any way to remove this block or reroute only MMS traffic outside of the VPN? I do have Android Firewall installed, so iptables is usable to do this.
No one has anything for this?

The only "solution" I found, but did not feel it was the true answer, was just a workaround. I noticed that when I am hooked to wifi as well MMS fail to send and to receive. I just have to turn it off and wait for the message than turn it back on. Sucks I know, but it works.

I may have found a solution but I still need to do more testing. When looking through the settings of some messaging apps I've noticed some give you a "MMS Behavior" option. In Textra it says:
Code:
Try 'System' if legacy MMS isn't work (for example with Project Fi, VPNs, WiFi MMS, etc).
So I set it to System and so far it seems to be working fine while being connected to my VPN. If I change back to "Legacy" or to a different default messaging app without that option it seems like they stop coming through again.
So far I've only tested this with pictures messages and haven't had a chance to try group texts yet. ChompSMS has the option in there but I've only tested it with Textra. I'm using a Galaxy S7 on Verizon so I'm not sure if that affects anything either.
Well, I tested it in ChompSMS, but no luck.

I would bet this is because the MMS server only allows the carrier IP Range. If it's blocking over Wifi as well that would prove that it's not just VPN that is causing it. I would imagine you could receive MMS from anywhere if you have a way of getting your mobile/carrier IP address. (Some sort of proxy(?))

I haven't used these in a while, but when I did they both worked over wifi. Textra and 8SMS. See if installing either one helps, if not uninstall.
But beware, if your provider doesn't support MMS over wifi you won't be able to use it, here is the warning from 8sms on MMS settings:
MMS over Wifi
If your cellular network (ie. Sprint) supports mms over wifi, you can enable Settings » MMS Settings » MMS over Wifi.
If your cellular network does not support mms over wifi (or you are not sure), then DO NOT enable MMS over Wifi or mms will stop working.

I had issues with having my VPN active and not getting SMS/MMS messages while connected. Went looking for an answer and found that there wasn't any one single solution for it so I thought I'd post what worked for me. FWIW I'm on T-Mobile USA with Android 6.0.1.
Within my VPN configuration I went to the 'Allowed Apps' tab and excluded my SMS/MMS programs and processes. Namely I made sure Textra, Messenger, and MmsService were all excluded from the VPN and this resolved my issue. After disconnecting and reconnecting the VPN my text messages are sent and received without issue.
Was a pain in the butt for me as I have tasker setup to bring my VPN to life whenever it's not connected to my home wifi network. Took me a day or two to notice that text messages weren't going anywhere while the VPN was active. Oddly enough being on my home wifi network along with wifi calling being active has never caused an issue with SMS/MMS not working, but having a VPN active did.
I have switched to the Nexus 6P and am running rooted stock 7.1.1 (beta). Still with T-Mobile. I still have issues with MMS on wifi and on VPN, but no issue with SMS. It is strange. Maybe it is time to ask T-Mobile.
