Hi guys,
I have been following xda-forums for a while now and it has been really helpful in solving issues reg. app / OS / etc. Keep the good work up.
My Galaxy tab 10.1 has issues in the market place, I am not able to find few apps in Android Market (app) which could b found while accessing from the Browser. For Example, lets say "Google Earth" or "Google Chrome to Phone", when I try to install them from the browser, I get a pop-up "This item cannot be installed on your country".
Why does android market hide apps and why am i not able to install them inspite of living in India, which is supported according to android market's website ?
I bought by tab in US and currently using it in India. Can this be the reason ?
Thanks in Advance Guys,
-Vick
You need to clear the data in the Market app and use a VPN connection
Thanks blue13x, but can u guide me how to clear the data in the Market app and setup a VPN connection ?
I think the problem is with the account you set up. The same happened to me because I have a Canadian market account. If you have a US credit card, you certainly can set up a US account for your Google checkout. Otherwise, you cannot bypass the location check when choosing apps. Once you have set up a US account, regardless of where you physically are, you can download all apps available in the US market. I find the best way to do this is logging in to Android Market on your computer and choose whatever you like. They will be downloaded to your tab automatically. The plus side is that Market also checks compatibility for you, which the version of Market on your tab won't.
If you only have an Indian credit card, then you are out of luck my friend, I am afraid.
US Credit Card not mandatory
Hello,
I am also facing the same problem as I purchased my Galaxy Tab from US and I am now using it in Egypt.
I first changed my country in my Google account >> didn't work
Then I created a Google Checkout account with my "Egyptian" credit card but with an address in the US >> it worked BUT the Android Market issue still the same !!
Can I change country settings from within the Galaxy Tab itself ?
Guys, I have the same problem, the 7" had the market enabler to trick the GSM network
Now with the 10.1 wifi, u shud use a vpn, buy one from WiTopia, I just recommend it cuz I ve been using it on my tabs, PC's etc....
Now you get a vpn, u can present in any country u want now I look as am i n the US, but I can move to Europe or Asia anytime with my vpn, virtually
PS I live now in Qatar
Sabba7 to my Egyptian friend over here
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium App
Sabba7 ya gennoz !
A friend just sent me Market Access app but I did not try it yet.
I just can't figure how the galaxy tab recognized the location is not USA.
So how much is this VPN from WiTopia ?
The same here, in Russia. What if set up my google checkout account with US card, will it help? I dont want to use VPN. Also, may be there is just some market enabler patch around?
You can use market access - and it should be on boot

I tried market enabler with no luck
Not just outside the US
bought my galaxy tab in ohio and use it in ohio. I get the same problems regarding not being able to install in your country. I have, however, been able to download the same apps from the android marketplace website. I reported the problem to google market tech support but their answer didn't work. Needs to be fixe

Hi
Thank you for your reply. If you are not able to remove updates, your Market app or your device is reporting your location incorrectly. This could be due to the Market being corrupt, or some other issue with your device. For support with your device, I recommend you contact the manufacturer or carrier directly. I have provided a link to both below for your convenience:
Sprint:
Samsung
To resolve issues with the Market, I recommend you perform a factory reset on your device. Please note that this will reset your device to its original state. While your media content (photos, music, etc.) will not be deleted from the SD card, applications and their related data will be uninstalled.
Before the factory reset, make sure that your contacts are synced to your Google account by signing into Gmail from a computer and verifying if your contacts appear there. If your contacts are not synced, then I recommend updating your sync settings at Settings > Accounts and Sync and choosing either AutoSync or touching the account you would like to sync and choosing "Sync Contacts."
Along with syncing contacts, please back up any important application data and/or settings by navigating to Settings > Privacy and selecting "Back up my data'"and "Automatic restore."
To perform a factory reset:
1) Go to Home > Menu > Settings > Privacy 2) Press "Factory data reset" 3) Press "Reset tablet"
After you perform the factory reset, make sure you sign into your device with the same primary Google Account you were using before. If you have any questions or concerns before performing the reset, or if doing so does not resolve the issue, please let me know so I can continue to investigate the issue.
Regards,
Country issues with Galaxy Tab 10.1
Hello!
I am new to all of this, but can relate to what all of you are saying about the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
I bought one in New York and the Samsung agent at Best Buy told me I would have no issues with it at all. Wherever there was wi-fi, I would be able to use the device without any problems. He also told me I would have a world-wide warranty.
However, I too am having issues with Market and the ability to install "UK based" apps, for example BBC iPlayer, or Beebplayer. It tells me this app cannot be installed in your country. Now Market won't load at all.
I also tried to register my device on the Samsung website, but without success. I called Samsung and they told me the device is not supported in the UK. Any device with a model number beginning in "GT-P" won't be supported apparently.
If I had any idea that I would have such issues, I may not have bought one at all.
Is anybody any further on in figuring out how to get the device to recognise the country it is being used in? I am happy to do a factory reset as I don't have anything on the device yet, but would this action help it "think" it was living in the UK!!? OR, can the creation of a UK Google account fix the problem?
Best Regards,

Yes, market enabler will not work with the wifi only version of the GT. There needs to be some modification of the build.prop file or you can get around it by clearing the market apps cache and using the vpn method described above.
1: rooted tab 10.1
2: cleared all caches including advanced with power/volume menus
3: Even with vpn was being blocked by the out of country message
4: set clocks in all routers/modums and the galaxy tab to same time zone as vpn server (some sites track your time zone).
5: repowered router
6: changed vpn server location
I had cleared caches previously so I don't think that was it but one or more of the other steps fixed my problem and I have full access to market
If you have trouble with your market account sign in, go to web --samsungdive.com --and reset your account there, then return to Tab and reenter account data.
I kind of ran into a version of this problem, but with some apps that would not accept US currency on Google Checkout. Since you can only use a credit card, and mine won't allow out of US transactions I was stuck.
ADWLauncher folks directed me to AndroidPIT.com. They don't have everything, but what is available can be downloaded as APK and you can use paypal and other payment methods.
Worth a shot for some things.

Modaco posted instructions a while ago RE using the Amazon Android app store from outside the US, might be worth trying similar steps for the Google Market.
http://android.modaco.com/topic/336...tore-from-outside-the-us-including-paid-apps/
Amazon's Appstore for Android does not seem to have this problem and will allow me to purchase and install from China whereas Market will not. Amazon does not have quite the full selection as Market, but I have been able to find almost everything I wanted there.
guys i am facing this issue
i tried everything from apps like market enabler to US vpn and US credit card. nothing changes. Many times i cleared market data without success.
still cannot install apps. It says item cannot be installed in your country !!
please someone help.
my solution for full market access
actually when you think about it, the very first possibility that the system can identify your location is through the internet connection.
So here is what I do;
0. In order for all the following procedures to work, you should have already set all the location parameters to US in your Google Account settings on the web. (Google Checkout, Calendar, Profile address, etc.)
1. Disconnect your tablet's wifi from the default access point (forget the connection)
2. Switch off your wifi connection, wipe the cache and data of the Market app, remove your Google account from the tablet's settings and restart your tablet
3. Then on your mobile phone switch off all the internet connections (wifi & mobile data) and restart your phone
4. After your phone turns on, the first thing you should do is to fake a US provider on the Market Enabler; after that you can enable the mobile data connection for internet access... but not the wifi. (we are avoiding as much as we can for our real ip not to appear on the other side)
5. On your mobile phone settings enable the "wifi hotspot"; which will be the access point for our tablet.
6. On your tablet fake a US provider with Market Enabler, as well... after that switch on your wifi and connect to your phone's mobile internet through wifi.
7. After the connection established launch the Market app; as you have your Google account removed before hand, it will ask you to sign in... do so and wait for the legal aggreement pop-up to appear. If you can see the terms "Google Book" and "Youtube" in this pop-up window, that will be the first clue that you have unlocked the full market access.
8. Confirm the aggreement and wait for all the market tabs to appear (Apps, Books, Movies)
As to my experience, the system is registering your location when you first set up your Google account on your tablet... and keeps it later on. That's why, no matter how many times you restart, wipe and/or redo fake procedures it doesn't help.
So, vital thing is to have the right conditions set before kicking your Google account on the tablet.
Hope this could do the trick for you all.

My tablet was purchased in US, I have a Google Apps US account with a US credit card. When I activated the device, I was in Canada. How do I make it revert to US? My Internet connection is in Canada with a US VPN.
I don't see any option to reset my SamsungDive account? Not to mention it displays 2 tablets there. The first tablet was the 16GB one that I exchanged for a 32GB model. Both tablets were purchased in US.
When I go to Android Market, I see Netflix listed, but when I try to install it, I get the message: "This item cannot be installed in your device's country." Thanks for your help.
I am completely new to android and am getting my android phone on Sunday.
[1] I have visited the Webpage of Android market and tried installing sum free apps. It tells me to sign-in. When I sign-in I get the message “There are no Android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account.”
Now, how can I add a phone to this account? I tried in settings but no option to add a phone anywhere…
[2] Once, I sort the Login issue, I believe it directly sends App to phone. Now wht if I have to download App/games on my PC and transfer it to my mobile manually. I am saying this as I don’t have any data plan on my mobile and I prefer to download to PC 1st and later to mobile.
PS: I am an orkut user and hence I am using the username/pass of orkut. Do I need to create a new acc. For my phone?
when you get your phone it will prompt you to set up or sign in with a googlemail account. Once youve done this you will have a phone associated with that email. You can either then use the market on the phone or sign in with this email on the web based market. On the web based one when you click install it will automatically install on your phone.
Im not aware of anyway of downloading from official market to your pc to transfer manually. You can do this with some other programs, i.e some games companies let you download it to pc but to my knowledge thats not possible on the official market. I dont use the web based one a lot though so i may be wrong
i can use more replies !!
Okay, well you can't 'add' a phone to your account - you need to get the phone and enter your account details into the phone, then it will show up on the Android Marketplace website.
You're right in thinking it sends the apps straight to the phone, and I don't know of any way to download an app to your PC to transfer to the phone. However your phone will have a wi-fi feature, so just connect it to your local wifi hotspot and you can download the apps without having to pay data charges
I'm afraid I have no idea about the Orkut thing, though...

I agree with the other posters, just use wifi and you will be fine! If you dont have a wifi hotspot just go to a restaurant or mall that has free wifi and setup your phone there.
You will need a gmail account to activate the market on your phone.
Googles Android market does not provide a way for you to download apps to your PC. You can however copy them from the phone if you gain root access.

You can copy them out even without root access. Just use a file explorer like File Expert which lets you back up the apps to APK files.
Thx for the above replies
I have some new queries, if I change my phone/hard reset, whts the way to install all paid app without downloading again? – As the above member have suggested I have to take backup using something like “File Expert” ? Does it take backup on to PC ?
For any purchased app/games the developer provide update for how long? Where to see this info.
Rooting a phone can ever- delete Messages, Phone numbers, installed Apps ?
As Note is having Wifi-Direct, can i just use a "USB-Wifi dongle" on my PC and connect to my phone OR will i have to buy a router compulsary ? ( I intend to play big files more than 4GB and surf internet )
it's just a mega synchro...
If you synchro your google account, you have contact, mail, ... etc in distant server, so when you flash or reset data when you put again your google account it take all back automaticly.
You can use WiFi for shared files with your computer. It's better with a router but it's possible with dongle.
I've been using Android for a little while, and finally convinced my wife to join the revolution when we bought new phones recently. She is having a problem I have never seen in a mobile device.
She created a new google account on her phone when we set them up and can access the market and all normal google features normally, but she CANNOT log into the same google account on any PC. When she tries, she gets the "user name or password is incorrect" error.
I've tried password resets with no luck. I've tried creating an account via PC and been told the username is in use. I went onto her phone and enabled multiple log in hoping that might allow us to get in on the PC.
She can access the mobile and standard gmail pages, and the gmail app... but only on her phone.
Any thoughts?
Have you tried it with, and without @gmail.com at the end?
When I log in, I always put the name but not the domain. I remember once I had typed @gmail.com at the end and it didn't work.

Good idea, when I created my gmail many years ago that was how I did it.
I had her try it again without the "@gmail.com", just in case, and still no joy.

Did you try the other way around? Set it up on the PC first, and sign into the phone with the new account?

I considered having her created a new google/gmail account on the pc, then reset her phone and set it up again using the new account.
She's purchased apps and books that I'd rather not have to pay for again on the current account.

Tried that one too, still no luck.
I considered going for the gusto and rooting the phone, then backing up her apps using titanium, re-associating the phone to a new gmail account, and finally retrieving the apps and data from titanium.
As much as I support being able to root my devices, I'm just not sure that would solve this problem.
Have you tried taking a sledge hammer to the PC? It won't solve your problem, but you'll feel a whole lot better.

That was my next suggestion. The other alternative would be to email the dev's of the apps in question. They might cut you a break. There's a chance they'll refund the prices you paid, then you could purchase them with the account you set up on the PC.
The final alternative (which I would not suggest or condone) would be to download illegal copies of the apps apk files. Which again, I am not endorsing, suggesting or condoning.
There is a refund window that you have on apps purchased through the Market, but I think it was just reduced (and may be as little as 15 minutes). But if you could get the apps refunded, you could jsut repurchase them later.
EDIT:
I found this link. If you scroll down, someone's had problems with 2step verification. This could be helpful.
I finally solved the problem. I made her do another password reset from the browser on her phone, instead of the PC. For whatever reason, it worked this time.
Thanks all for the suggestions.
Hi
I am using the leaked JB firmware and it was working fine. MAPS/GPS. When i used google maps and facebook/foursquare checkins, it gave accurate results. Now all of a sudden something has changed and its not so accurate. I have reformatted my phone and reinstalled the rom ..still getting the same.
One thing i noticed is when it was working fine and when i used facebook to check in, samsung was written on the map and now it says google
i have attached a screenshot of what i mean.. since now it says google.. it is not that accurate. i am using neatrom lite
how to get it back to samsung again..please help
no one?? are all of you having google displayed there
When I set up Facebook on a ROM that had bloatware, I had the option on first sign in to have Samsung use Facebook or something. I didn't use it. I presume this is what you may need though. Perhaps if you go to settings, application manager, then swipe to the far right and select the tab that says "ALL", you can try clearing the cache and defaults on Facebook and whatever Samsung service that is being used. This would likely facilitate a new login to both services. You may need to go force a sync of Facebook, and Samsung stuff if applicable, to make sure you don't have to add authorization for it once you set it up again.
Hi all. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 on Lollipop 5.0.1. My phone has refused to connect to Google Play Services. I tried to add a Google account to my phone but couldn't. That was when I first noticed the issue. I cleared cache and even data of Google Play Services (and Google Services Framework) to no avail. I then went as far as to disable Google Play Services on my phone and then re-enabled it (according to the play store on the Web I've got the latest version). Still not working. And now I don't even have any google amount on the phone. Apps like Google Now and the Play Store don't don't even really open again.
Everything works fine on the Web (even using Chrome). When I try to add an account now, it recognises my email address and password (I deliberately tried a wrong combination and it was detected immediately) but gets stuck at the end of the process (pls see pic attached). What do I do?
On a separate note, I tried to do a factory reset but the phone just keeps displaying "shutting down" without actually shutting down (although I find some things like the phone time do get reseted). What do I do?
Finally, can't use Smart Lock anymore. The Smart Lock screen displays just the Smart Lock title up top. The screen proper remains blank. What do I do?
But by far my major problem is the Google account issue. Thanks.
Still can't post a pic here. The screen I get when trying to connect my Google account says "Can't sign in"
Can't establish a reliable connection to the server.
. . .
Have you ever been able to connect?
Are you doing this via WiFi or mobile connection?
If you log into Google on a computer and go to your security settings/list of trusted devices, is it there? If so how many times? Also do you have 2 factor authentication enabled?

Thanks for your response.
Firstly, yes. The issue started just last week. All was fine before then.
Mobile connection.
No two factor authentication. Google doesn't seem to list my country, so can't put in my phone number.
Did you manage to log into Google security and review the list of connected apps and the list for device activity?
Also what phone do you have? Are you rooted? Do you have a custom rom and did you install gapps yourself?
