what??? (press what? hold what??)
is this permanent solution?

Press and hold the log you want to delete, no it's not a permanent solution, so you will just have to remember to manually delete the logs of your affair so the wife doesn't find them.

try using this MOD -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706487
but read all instructions first, and check if its compatible to your firmware. Or you can just flash a custom ROM, i'm using Omega and has built-in hide sms from call logs MOD

1.6 = MENU - BACK - BACK - MENU - BACK - MENU - MENU - BACK
2.1 = HOME - BACK - BACK - HOME - BACK - HOME - HOME - BACK
Pressing any button to get the lock screen to light up doesn't count-- the sequence starts from a LIT Lock Screen
But, what are you trying to fix, there's nothing inside the Service Menu that can be updated save for the ear piece/speaker/microphone settings and purging the GPS location tables. There's no 3G settings to change.
3G is based on the APN configuration. MENU/Settings/Wireless&networks/Mobile networks/ and the Access Point Names combined with the Network Mode which can switch off 3G. Here's links with many APN settings from many carriers.

I've found out the problem. Its that I'm using Wolfbreaks latest rom which is ultra fast and stable but he just PM'd me to let me know that he deleted the service menu apk from his rom to make it lighter. This is why the physical button presses or *# combination will not work. There is a stand alone service menu apk which is about 14.4Mb I found on XDA but its incompatible with the rom.
Wolf said the service menu file he deleted (which he hasn't got anymore) is about 1 Mb.
Can anyone send me a copy of there service menu apk (should be around 1Mb) then I can install it to my root system / app folder, go to xRecovery and fix permissions then it should all work.

It worked for me. I attached the file so you can download it. i got it from that link btw.
I sold my phone a few months ago and deleted most of the files I had, but as I remember u need to to put some files in system/etc/permissions/
com.sonyericsson.android.bootinfoif.xml
com.sonyericsson.android.cdfinfoaccessorif.xml
com.sonyericsson.android.qcsemcserviceif.xml
com.sonyericsson.android.semcrilextension.xml
qcrilhook.xml
In system/framework/ put
semc_bootinfoif.jar
semc_cdfinfoaccessorif.jar
qcsemcserviceif.jar
semcrilextension.jar
qcrilhook.jar
And u need to install ServiceMenu.apk in system/app/
Cheers!

Just a suggestion:
1. Try to clear phone/dialer app data.
Settings menu => Applications => Manage applications => All => Dialer => Clear data.
2. Try to disable the environment sensor.
Settings menu => Dial / Call => Environment sensor (disable).
3. Try another Modem/Baseband file.
You can download another modem file, e.g. from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277593&highlight=Modem+XXKI3
and flash it using PHONE section in Odin.
4. Try to use another/custom phone app.
Search a little bit and you will find several customized phone.apk files which seem to work stable (and optimize some settings of stock phone.apk).
As this is on your own risk, you should backup stock phone.apk (or better the whole system) before.
Good luck !

[Q] can't recieve pictures form sms/mms

Hey everyone.
i have googled around and searcher here on xda about how to be able to recieve/download pictures from/through - sms/mms
i have read about changen the apn and when im on stockrom i can download pictures and when i change the apn to the same as on stock rom to the custom rom i still can't what is the problem ?
galaxy s2 i9100
I had the very same issue but it was just an apn issue.
I did everything that the forum said but i couldn't recieve any mms... but one day i saw that in a section where there should be nothing, there were a star (*), (in Server i think) i deleted the star and let the thing blank and it worked!
Hope that'll help you
I can't receive or see MMS without doing the following:
1. Go to your SMS app
2. Tap on menu and hit "Settings"
3. Under MMS the Automatic Detention / Automatic Transfer / Automatic Download is ticked right?
4. Remove the tick from it
5. Save your definitions
6. Now when you receive a MMS you will see something like "Download" a button in the normal conversation
7. Turn on your Data
8. Hit download
9. Congrats you are done!
Note: If you get stuck while downloading, which means it keeps saying downloading but you don't receive anything, please turn data off, reboot your phone, turn data on, hit download.
Always works for me, hope I could help you out!

MOD-Rom 4.3-MI6-Call button in contact list.

If you want to have a call button in contact list does, not using "Wanami Xposed"
here you go https://db.tt/BFSOZXHl
I don't remember who made this zip,we used it in an older version of rom,but works very well.....tested on JoelDroid 4.3 rom-MI6.
After flashing, delete google account and login again to restore pictures in contacts.

The mod is not guilty, this doing 4.3 base.
Using "Wanami xposed", is the same size of the call icon.
