Hey.
Am using a i9100 running cwm recovery and sensation 3.4 rom. Recently i got the eMMC chip error. Ever since whenever i pull my battery out, the date and time gets reset to 1/1/2000 & 12.00am respectively. Is there.any way to prevent the resets??

Yes, don't take the battery out.
My phone has always behaved this way.

I didn't have a prob like this 'til now, but did u try to make a clean full wipe reflash?
Wipe data, factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Format data/system/cache
Reflash Rom (later maybe kernel, too)
U have connection to inet? All settings in set correct?

I don't think it's a problem with the ROM as it worked fine until i tried to dual boot with resurrection remix via siyah 3.1 kernel.that's when the infamous eMMC chip error came up.so i switched back to cmw recovery and sensation. Flashed n wiped everything. But everytime i restart the date and time goes back to the default one. And yes i have set the correct settings and everything.

Get gotbrickbug app by chainfire from the market and check whether your eMMC chip has been fried or not

If your eMMC chip had been fried, you wouldn't be able to do a lot with your phone. I don't understand why you're linking this to your date/time problems. Also, Chainfire's app won't tell you if your eMMC chip is fried, just whether a particular erase method could brick your device.
Well when i enter into recovery, i get three four files missing. Those which you get if your chip is fried. And yourphone can continue working fine with a fried chip.only when the bogus corrupted sector is accessed again does it gets your phone into a Brick.Plus am not able to dual boot in siyah anymore.
Emmc being something to do with cache. I think the local settings like time and date is not getting stored to be brought back during a reboot.

you're kidding right? all you need to do is a factory reset, that's a clean install
I did a factory reset 2 days ago and the data folders are still there.
My phone has the same free space on it.
If you want to remove all your personal data, you need to format the sd card. To wipe and format, go into settings | privacy | Factory data reset, tick the checkbox for "format USB storage" and reset phone. To just format, go to settings | storage | format USB storage.
If you want to completely wipe your phone you can enter the following code into your dial pad and it will completely reset your phone to out of the box conditions
Warning this code wipes everthing
Code:

Thanks you all for the reply. I'll do that cuz i'm on a bootloop that cames and go from time to time.
But my I777 its not like an out of the box should be.
I'm using ICScrewed 2.1 right now. Any difference?
When you say erase everything what everything was that? lol
will keep Only the ROM and nothing else?
And about the trash zip files from VoltageControl etc.?

No! It will uninstall all apps and remove all setting and wipe your sd card
Cwm doesn't run from your sdcard, it is in the kernel

When I say everything, I mean your phone will be just like the day it was first taken out of the box with the stock Samsung firmware that came with the phone, wiping any trace of anything you have ever done to the phone.
Edit: the only thing it does not touch is the bootloaders.
It will reset you to the stock kernel, the entire stock firmware that came factory on the phone.

No offense by any mean but if it is true then we won't have hundreds of threads asking and answering "how to return to stock"

AFAIK, factory reset (aka wipe data) will erase all installed apps, settings, home screen settings, ...., and all personal stuff that stored in the internal memory.
By "internal memory" I meant the sd card. NOTE this sd card IS NOT the external micro SD that we bought separately and insert into the phone. Dang, i hate this confusion. Honestly, I am not sure that "wipe data" even performs what I said in bold.
Factory reset/wipe data does NOT touch the ROM, not touch the kernel, not touch the bootloader, ...., basically it won't touch any system file/folder.
wipe data/factory reset formats /data and /cache partitions. pretty much nothing else except cleaning a couple of other hidden folders.
never touches /system partition
it would behoove everyone to understand these items as they go around flashing things willy nilly....

Don't wipe. Can you reboot into recovery? If so restore a previous rom or nandroid. You shouldn't lose anything. Above All don't panic.

reboot just locks up at splash screen and clearing the cache and dalvik wont delete files correct? also the cache we talk about is the wipe cache partition?
Wiping /cache and /dalvik won't delete any data so no worries about that. Wipe them both and then reboot. It will take up to 3-5minutes to rebuild the caches.
I kind of need to know what ROM you are/were on to figure out where to go. Once you answer that and try the above, and it doesn't work I have another idea to try.

trying to reboot now but it looks like it isnt going to work. but i also read somewhere else
Only the factory recovery wipes the /data/media ("/sdcard") partition. Any third-party community-built recovery (like ClockworkMod Recovery or TeamWin Recovery Project) will wipe everything except /data/media.
So, to answer your question, as long as the files are on your phone's pretend SD card (the default for user-created content and files you transfer to your phone), they won't be wiped when installing a custom ROM.
is this true? also again could care less about the phone just need the new baby pics and vids
You are correct. The only ways to erase your internal SD card is by formatting it, masterclear in Odin, or formatting /data (not wiping but formatting -they are different functions).
Did the wipe and reboot work?

The chip is bugged meaning if you're using a non safe ketnel ypu have a chance of bricking (actually super bricking) the phone by performing data wipe.
The emmc cap bug was fixed in most kernels. All stock based kernels prior to june 2012 are safe. Most of the later releases are not. Most 4.0.3 stock kernels are safe.
Nevertheless just to be on a safe side, never use stock based kernel to wipe data. The best way out would be to install one of the safe custom kernels, then reboot recovery and only then wipe data.
The application you're talking about is most likely Gotbrickbug by Chainfire and it checks whether your chip is bugged. Doesn't check your kernel. That means your chip is bad but can be rather safely wiped using a kernel that was declared safe by dev.

So, if my kernel is SAFE i can do all the wipe and the factory restore without problem. Right?
Yes.
Here is the story!
My i9100 was working great, the only thing i noticed was a couple of time the screen changed the regular colors to something like a "negative" one.
Right now the phone boot but freezes as I try to do something...even the initial setup.
So far I tried almost everything: flashing a stock rom, flashing all the developers rom, erase and format everything and start again; no luck! the problem still there: with some rom the phone stuck on the boot screen, with others it boot up but freezes.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks:fingers-crossed:

Your problem seems very similar to having memory brick blocks, because for "one person" the phone even booted fine but /data wasn't mounted which made applications to behave weird. But since no bad sectors came up it must be something else..

If so, reflash your kernel and go from there.

no, phone doesn.t response on anything, even if i'm charging the battery.
Try removing your battery and unplug cables.
Then try download or recovery mode again.
If it really doesnt work then there is probably something fried on your system board, doubt anything you can do about it as i had the same not that long ago out of the blue.

Your battery was low when you tried to flash it, wasn't it?

On some occasions flashing a device can use 40-50% of battery to prep and flash device which is why its advised to never flash your phone unless you have at least 50-60% battery.
If power cuts out during flashing procedure it can damage nand/ic chip, corrupt bootloader, corrupt sdcards etc.
After leaving it plugged into to charger overnight try a USB jig to see if you can get it to wake up in download mode, If you can re-flash rom and go from there.

From what you described, it couldn't have hard bricked your phone. In fact, it isn't easy to hard brick our phone unless you install that infamous ICS 4.0.4 leaked ROM or mess with flashing of PIT file. Try to use another fully charged battery to boot up or go into CWM recovery.

The reason for this is stock kernel who has kode cause brick.
