My phone will disconnect 3g and just stay off till I reboot or go in and manually turn off the internet connection and turn it back on..
Sprint is trying to tell me that everybody is having the same problem and there should be an OTA sent out to fix the problem..

Mine does it as well . Don't know if its the phone or sprint working on the towers . I called and they told me they were working on towers in my area. They said they shut one off and the other towers around there have to pick up for the one that's getting worked on. But its annoying

I live and work in completly different parts of the city and it doesn't matter where I am. I can't get it to hook back up for more than 10 min sometimes..
I had my EVO replaced from best buy today because sprint said my 3g should be working.. new EVO still no 3g ..my 3d has data so it has to be a prl or network problem I'm in Florida

Yep, I have the same problems. The 3G connection is a joke. I was dealing Sprint yesterday to get my phone replaced and the guy asked how I liked it. I told him the 3G connection sucks and he said they were working on the towers.
I think it's bull****. I just love paying for ****ty service.

I've replaced my phone twice! I'm glad I'm not he only one that's having problems..
Another problem I'm having..
Weather widget won't update(everything in enabled) and I'm getting roaming notices every 20 min.
How do we know when LTE is live on the phone? Does the icon show?
Yeah having the same issues as you guys. 3G will just suddendly drop & I'll start roaming for no reason. I'm not doubting that Sprint is working on the towers but it is also something going on with this phone because my wife's E4GT is having none of these issues.

If they are goofing with towers than maybe. I'm just curious how do we know when Lte is live on our phones.
Ever since I tried unlocking the bootloader and installing a recovery my phone will not connect to 3G. It will either have no data connection at all or 1X. I have done so many update profiles and update PRL's and nothing seems to help.
The only way I can get 3G to come back now is if I set the network mode to "CDMA Only" then 3G comes back, but when I first got the phone I had it in "CDMA/LTE" and 3G was fine. I don't know what to do now.
Having the exact same 3G issues as the rest of you. Sprint had me reset the phone provisioning with the MSL code, do a PRL update, and Firmware update and nothing worked. My 3G down speeds avg. 0.24 Mbps and cuts out every now and then. The Rep said she would call me back today to see if the changes helped. The bad thing is we are all patient about not having LTE yet but it is ridiculous that our 3G speeds are the worst in the business now and almost nonexistent. ATT, T-Mobile, and VZ should make a commercial saying who cares if you have unlimited data when you have the slowest data and barely have data.

Has anyone had issue with losing Data connectivity on and off?
For the past 2-3 days i have been losing data connectivity and force to turn on - off the data switch in order for it to get back on.
Two hard reset with no success.

I did called sprint and they did a data reset with the ##3282# seems to have done the trick, you might want to make sure you mobile network is set to CDMA only unless your in a LTE area.

I was having the same issue. I couldn't even get above 50kpbs down the last couple days. I called sprint and the did something from their end and told me to update profile on my end. Now I'm back up to 300-800 kpbs which is normal in my area but crappy none the less. I am on the border of a first and second round market but closer to second. Hoping 1st round reaches my house.

I'm in grand rapids, MI, and have dozens of data connectivity warnings in various apps, despite being on my home wifi. Texts come through very delayed too. I'm in a round 2 LTE city... Toggling airplane mode fixes things...

I'm in the same city as tmuka and I'm in a similar boat only worse cause I live out by the airport. Looking into playing with the options in epst to see if anything can be made better for day to day since lte isn't an option and most free hotspots are slower than the 3g sometimes.

EDIT: Okay, just called sprint and used the dial reset and it works!
I haven't seen LTE or 4G on my phone once. This is really odd because I live blocks from the KC sprint campus. I have even driven into their parking lot and sitting there got only 3G still.
I know this has to be on my end because there's no way that in their own campus in their main center they don't have a tower running it since this was the first location to receive LTE. Is this something that could be dependent on the ROM i'm using. I'm running viper 1.21 which others have said they get LTE with so I don't think it's that.
Do I need to possibly flash a new radio? Is there something else going on?
Yeah, ur not in an LTE area. Either that or Idk find someone with an EVO and see if they get LTE in the same spot.

I haven't tried toggling to CDMA and then back to LTE, I'll give that a go.
I know for sure I'm in an LTE area because KC is the first and I live directly next to their huge campus here. I have a few friends who work for them, actually everyone in this town has worked for them at one point or another, lol. And they said we do have it in this area now.

correct. I always say KC because anyone outside of this area doesn't know OP. I live a just a couple blocks from that campus. I thought this was the first area scheduled for the roll out. At least I know why I haven't seen it yet. thank you.

i gave it a go and no LTE yet, so I think erichj must be right and the rollout is not complete.
Strange that they wouldn't start with their own campus. But I guess I was just spoiled by t-mobiles insanely fast network speeds before switch to sprint. Kinda a bad decision on my part but I thought I wanted an Iphone, until I had it a couple days and took back that turd to get another android phone. By that point I was stuck in to a sprint contract with dial-up speed.

I was on the Sprint campus tonight and had to reboot my phone to get it to pick up 4g. Sometimes that's the only thing that will work . Network is only about 40% build out around the KC market right now.

It definitely is spotty. I was able to get LTE in the legends but it would randomly switch to 3G even if I was in the same spot.

Iive up north of the river by the airport and I only saw the 4g icon once while eating a chicken fried steak at corner cafe in Riverside. I only had it long enough to download speedtest.net app and it reported 8M download and 8M upload. Pretty good but then it switched to 3g again

Anybody ever have a problem were their mobile data stops working? WiFi and voice works just fine.My phone shows a 3G signal and good signal strength but when I turn off wifi I get no data. I don't think its the ROM cause I've flashed 3 different ROM and I have the same problem with each. I updated my profile and PRL but it didn't change anything. I got this phone(EVO LTE) on day one and data has always working fine but his just started yesterday.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
mine just started this today around 2pm. getting ready to call sprint now that im home.

mine wont even accept calls now. wife and daughter said they kept calling me to ask what i wanted for dinner and i never answered. just tryed calling myself from there phones and my house.........phone never rang.
Mine did the same thing around the same time... I was without data for about 5 hours.. when in went to the spent store it started working again, where are y'all located at?

I'm located in Dallas. So I just got off the phone with sprint tech support and they had me dial some code on my phone to bring up a menu I never seen before to reset some setting and my data and gps is now working. They only bad part is that my mobile data only works now when my phone is set go CDMA only and not LTE/CDMA. That sucks cause they do have LTE in my area.

I am having the same problem in Ft Worth. Started this afternoon. I can get 3g data if I set the data to eVdo only. If I set it to cdma I can only get 1x. If I set it to cdma/evdo/lte auto I get no data. I am hoping this means Sprint is working on the towers.

The sprint tech I talked to said that this happens if they are working on the towers. I hope so too. Ever since LTE went live a few weeks ago I've had a 4g signal for about 10 total minutes and I go to downtown Dallas often.

I'm having the exact same issue, and I'm in Ft Worth. Let us know if you find a way to stay on CDMA/LTE and still get data.
I woke up this morning and put my phone on LTE/CDMA mode....then turned aireplane mode on for about 2min and back off and now my mobile data/GPS is working on LTE/CDMA mode.....weird I'm glad.

My data started working again this morning. Still the same crappy 3g. It is funny, if I select evdo only my speeds double. On auto mode is get between 50 & 100 kbps, if I select evdo I get between 200 & 300 kbps. I still don't have lte at home, Haltom City. I have seen lte for a few minutes at a time at work, Meacham & Blue Mound Rd.

The sprint tech has to dial: ##3282# and select Edit mode(i can't remember the password he gave me) From there we went to advanced to verifty my MSID. That was corect so we didn't change anything. He said he reset the data on my phone and asked me restart it. After that he had me go into my mobile network settings and disable domestic data and select CDMA mode only and restart again. It's worked fine ever since.

I'm running viper Rom with snuzzo kernel. Could this be a software issue? The Verizon website does not have my city listed for current or upcoming 4g availability.

if you know you are in a city with no 4g and dont plan on getting it soon, why not change it to CDMA only? The phone might think its getting a signal from a 4g tower and its causing it to switch like that

This has never happened before today, so I was hoping it was me getting 4g in my area.....
I tried the cdma only setting, and my data as a whole is spotty now. My wife's thunderbolt is doing the same thing now.
Is this what its like when they flip the 4g switch? Does anybody else remember when 4g came on in there area?

they might be testing the 4g radio in your area and it that might be causing it. give it a couple of days, if it doesnt fix you might want to as a vzw rep. for me it was back when tbolt launched when we got 4g
What ROM are you using? I know that on some ROMS, like cyanogenmod, it's actually best to keep phone on the setting that supports multiple data modes.
I live in a town of 15k and we just got 4G, so u may get it after all...

I'm having similar problems, I usually switch to cdma only when texts stop sending. I'm sure it's just a radio issue, hopefully it will resolve itself on the next update.

im in LA and have no issues with sprint spark at all. Im getting LTE (no doubt 800mhz) inside my place whereas no other sprint phone has ever. i am coming from the htc one and it never got lte in the house. the max is though...

Some Sprint Tri-band phone users have had the issue where they can either stay on LTE and get no texts/calls, or it goes from LTE to 3G, but not back, until airplane mode or a restart happens . This is due to the towers in question needing an upgrade. At the worst, it should be fixed by the end of the year.
The only problem I'm experiencing is that my data icon doesn't go away when Im on wifi, anyone else have this problem or a possible fix?

I have quite the opposite situation of you. Coming from my Galaxy Nexus it feels like I have totally new service. I get LTE at places where I barely got 3G on my Nexus.
Looks like I will be going back to AT&T. Data is too important to take the chance that it could get better with new/different radio... Really like the Max ... Service just suxs ...

there was a post somewhere about the data/lte/phone issue; it had to do with the new Spark network they are rolling out, and if I remember correctly, some of the new areas were undergoing a "fix" to remedy this, and was going to be done b4 the end of the year..
I have no problems with this outside of Chicago, where I think our Spark network is "completed"..

I've had the evo 4g LTE for 1.5 years now.... and really one of my few gripes is the phone does not hold/acquire an LTE signal very well when compared to my wife's s3.... often times she'll have LTE and I'll be stuck on 3g...
I was all set to buy a note3 jan 1. when I am upgrade eligible... but this phone intrigues me and it appears to be $200 cheaper.
I'd really feel dumb to get another HTC phone only to have the same LTE connection issues (btw I live in chicago market)....
I live in the Chicago Market,(burr ridge area) and have fantastic signal now, both for data and for calls, with the new maxx, and my wife has a ONE, and has no issues either..
