[Q] How long Razr Maxx battery lasts? - Motorola Droid RAZR

How long your maxx battery lasts?

It lasts all day for me.
Battery Monitor Widget reports my average 100% -> 0% Discharge time as 17hr56min.

It all depends on usage. Personally I do text quite a bit and average 10 or more calls a day and I can get a full day easily.

Are you all talk about razr maxx?
IMO 1 day for 3300 mah battery is low indicator.
Honestly, my razr maxx battery lasts 1 day too and i think its doesnt normally.
p.s. sorry for my english

the longest i got my maxx to last was 2 days 3hrs at 20% with light to medium usage. that's with 4g on the whole time

2 days on average with 4g off, With heavy usage
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA

typically ~2 days with 4g on, moderate usage. 3-4 days on wifi with moderate usage

My MAXX battery lasts all day with fairly heavy use, including web browsing, video and music streaming, phone calls, texts and e-mails.
This is the first phone I've had that would last all day without needing a top-off at some point during the day.

With really heavy usage. I mean around 500mb of Internet surfing and little YouTube a day and lots of Google Talk and minimal phone/talking usage on 4G. It lasts me around 15-17h. Pretty impressive. I used to charge my Droid Charge in the middle of the day. Now I dont even worry about it.

Are you guys stock or running a ROM?

Guys how about heavy usage on games? how long can it last?

It lasts at least twice as much as an Optimus I have and my wife's RAZR. I'd say it endures office, commute, dinner, and chill time.

I put the hurt on my battery. I unplugged early in the am, 2 or 3am. Went on a 24 mile bike ride while gps'ing my tracks and streaming internet music the whole time. Got home at 30% and proceeded to kill the battery in a 10 hour period. Very impressive!
Easily can go my awake time but I try and power through so I can charge once per night but the thing lasts so long that i get off schedule with the charging.
With GB I was good for two days with normal usage. Now with ICS I have not seen that type of battery performance even with not looking at XDA as much since forcing the update(less screen on time).

Battery Life for Photon

Just curious what people are getting on their phones. I'm getting about 16-18 hours with Juice Defender with about 10-15% battery left and moderate use (texting, 30 mins games...30 minute call...)
Wondering if any of the Custom Roms out there will extend battery life significantly...Thanks!

I'm easily getting a full day out of it. 8hr shift at work, then getting home and the battery is around 30% on average. Totally fine for me. Also have a 2nd battery just in case it's a busy day.

Yeah I guess I just had higher expectations for the phone..coming from a blackberry that I would charge 2-3/week. I should have expected a significant decrease in battery life due to display, etc.

No high end smart phone these days is going to get multiple days on a charge really. This phone has very good out of the box battery life. Most need a number of early updates to improve the life.
The way phones are now you will never see battery life like you expected. The new standard for me on smart phones is if it makes it through a full work shift then that's good battery life. Some of my past phones I would need to get either an extended battery or have a wall charger in my office. The mofo I can take to work and not plug in until I get into my car and leave.....that's pretty good if you ask me!
Right now 6 hours off the charger with the screen on for just over an hour I am at 78% battery. No calls but texting and some internet. That astounds me for a new phone.
Yeah I guess thats not bad...i was using battery circle but switched to the uot mod....im sitting at 80 after a couple hours....i wanted less widgets on my phone to drain less battery..not sure if it's worked yet

Some sprint TV sometimes, or gaming for a bit and Facebook and checking the forums and tech news. The battery is great on this thing my battery was at 30% when I got home from work at 9 last night and I was playing games untill midnight until it completely died on me.

Rooted and unlocked yesterday, took all of the sprint apps off (froze them) and with moderate usage with bluetooth and wifi on (switching between 3g and wifi throughout the day) I've been around 12 hours to this battery and just recently hit 50% via antutu cpu master widget. Battery on nighttime saver mode.

sucks about the non-removable battery...
at least there's still the possibility of some sort of external battery device that'll connect to it's USB port.
my 2c
Mine is on its third charge, and its still getting better
charge overnight via AC,
unplug at 8am for a full workday
2 push email accounts with up to 100 emails a day (1 gmail, 1 exchange)
whatsapp messages all day
bluetooth on in the car for 2 hours a day
bit of browsing and RSS reading thru the day
10 minutes of calls
end of work day ~ 40%.
get to 20% at about 10pm
so enough to get thru a work day, if you need to go out at night, get a car charger or similar.

Very good and detailed information. Thanks!
if the battery goes that quickly with such minimal use, i'd be screwed big time. with my current setup(thunderbolt - no razr here till Friday) I have a 4500mAh extended battery + a 5000mAh external power pack(9500mAh total) I easily blow through that in less then a day.
I am a heavy data user though. constant HQ audio streaming, downloading, video streaming, etc. around 30GB/month on a slow month.

hahaha, you do sound like a real heavy user, I dont have time to stream anything as I'm replying to the 100 push emails in an average work day!
Ps. My screen on time would be higher than most due to the typing.
I'm an average user, don't stream much at all. Granted, it's only the first day, but I charged this baby up and have been using it nonstop for email, web, and text for close to 5 hours and I'm at 50%. Played a couple of short videos as well.
As I said, it's the first charge so I assume the life will get better over the next couple of days. But so far so good.
To the guy who burns through nearly 10,000 MaH a day, there's no reason in the world you should get a phone without a removable battery!!!!

2 days with it now, getting better day after day... Smart Actions really a big add to the battery life.. On the first day, with out smart actions, It was over for 22 hours with good usage of internet/calls/display/music streaming from motocast etc..
And the next day, I have done some settings on smart actions, already 25 hours over, I still have 30% left though the same way I have used it on the first day... So, Thumbs-up Guys.... I expect it for another 4-5 hours as such we get it for 30 hours... That is better than any phone right now in the markret.. Smart Actions is the magic...
horrible battery life
I might be taking mine back. I've had it off the charger since 8:30AM, it is now 1:30 and the battery is at 30%. This is very unacceptable to me, especially since I really haven't done anything on it today. I really like the phone, but I can't have it charging all day.

I've been off the charger for 4 hours and 15 minutes, and I'm at 70%, with moderate use and no smart actions, with a mix of 4G, 3G, and Wifi (it switcehs between 4G and 3G a lot). I'm satisfied with those numbers, especially considering I'm upgrading from an Incredible.
I'd give it an understandable amount of battery life credit. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. This is compared to my sgs2.

Best screen on time on LTE?

On my Nexus, I get the following screen times:
2100mah battery : 2 hours
3800mah : 3 hours (still breaking it in, might be defective?)
I also had a Razr Maxx on which I got ~4 hours.
I am hoping the Rezound can reach 4-5 hours with the extended battery on LTE. What are you guys getting?

It really depends what you are doing during this "screen on" time. If you are playing fairly complicated CPU/GPU intensive task, you will likely not ever see better than the Razr Maxx got. However, I don't see how your time on the GNex could be so low with a 3800mah battery. I've been using my Rezound mostly for texting, email, and checking up on news and feeds, as well as google music, it haven't had any trouble hitting the 4hr mark, been up to 5 but that was sporadic and kind of all over the place usage. Meaning that I might do something that is battery consuming but not for very long...

wait are those the times before your phone dies? if soo id say you must live in a bad signal area because the razr maxx should go for well over a day with medium to heavy usage.

That's the amound of time the screen was on. I am a pretty heavy user, always on my phone.
The screen uses the same amount of power whether LTE is on or not. LTE uses more power than 3G, but both are tiny consumers compared with the screen. I get between 3.5-4 hours of "screen on" time in one charge, regardless of what else I do. If I use LTE instead of 3G, the phone dies a little faster, but I still average between 3.5 - 4 hours of screen time a day on one charge.

I haven't found that to be the case on my GNex. I can easily get 3-4 hours of screen time on wifi, but with LTE I'm only getting 2-2.5.
there's no question regardless if im on wifi, 4g or 3g the rezound sucks up some serious battery life when the lcd is on. if you want good battery life you basically have to not use your device.
This Anandtech review does reflect that.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5533/motorola-droid-razr-maxx-review-18x-the-battery/2
On 4G and 3G, the Rezound gets about 5 hours of browsing.
The Razr Maxx gets 5 hours on LTE, and 8 on 3G. Nexus 3.8/5.7.
This is good. The Rezound with the extended battery must be a beast.

if that's true about the razr maxx with a 3300mah battery that's not good at all.
I find the biggest battery killer BY FAR is audio streaming.
I listen to either iheart radio or Sirius online all day at work.
With the extended battery I can go like two days unless I stream audio. When I am listening to iheart or Sirius I get around eight hours and the battery is totally dead.

Maybe its the app you're using? I use Google Play Music and stream music every day on my 7 mile bike and bus ride to and from work and don't notice any significant battery drain. Often it takes me about an hour each direction and the battery drains maybe 3-4% during that time.

Sure, that may be the case... I'm just pointing out that in my experience, its not the streaming itself that causes the drain, but mostly something about the app itself that you're using to do the streaming. When I stream music using Google's app and Google's Music service, it seems the battery holds out just fine.
When I had Words With Friends installed on my phone, it dropped my battery life significantly. Why? I have no idea, cause I know I only opened that stupid app maybe once a day for 2 minutes. Maybe its just be a poorly written app? Who knows...
Anyways, you yourself just said that you've noticed everybody who uses these apps complains about battery life, which is exactly what I was indicating with my last post.

I get 2 hours on the 1620mah battery. I bought an extended battery which is 2750 mah which is about 70% more so that should yield 3.5-4 hours of screen on time.

[Q] How does your battery life fair on a normal Razr?

If you've got a normal Razr poll your on-screen times! I got this phone for probably a week now an screen time seem to just touch the 2.5~3 hour margin, what about yours?
I get the same, I was a bit concerned before I got the phone because of the non removable battery, but i'm really happy with battery. It lasts longer than my nexus s

Im in the Uk & i clearly chose the wrong phone. My battery drain is immense as i am a heavy user.
2:15hrs my phone from 100% charge was at 5%. I put it on charge n it took 5hrs to get back to 100% with heavy usage
i usually get 3hr-3hr 50mins screen on time, but i have gotten up to 4hrs 50mins on my razr, but i am using it on simple mobile so edge only and i'm not a heavy data user.
I do not use any battery saving apps, only freeze social crap and stuff like that that loves running in the background eating up your battery (provided that you do not use that social crap, of course).

That's still some crazy results, I've even tried using screen filter throughout the day with brightness set to half of what already seems to be the lowest
For some light web browsing with flash switched to on demand on but really just 2-3 hours at Max :s
jd plus is totally customizable, for instance i have it set to enable wifi at certain locations like home, ect.when the screen is on ,my battery power has more than doubled since i started using it,today my phonehas been unplugged for6 hours with on screen time of 1 hour 14 minutes and i still have 63% of my battery left, i would post screen shots but i don't know how!
Battery
I got my RAZR in Feb. It got crappy battery life 2-3 hours of battery life. Im medium to heavy user. Since I've rooted my phone 3 weeks ago. I've removed and BloatFreezer most of the apps that. Run in the background I don't use very often. To say I very happy with my battery life I get 6 to 12 hours now. I can work on my car playing Pandora off my wifi and get about 7 hours of play. I've turned down my screen brightness all the way down. Its hard time see sometimes but I deal with. I'm very happy with this phone can't wait till I get the MAXX
I get two to three and a half, four hours os screen time...
That corresponds to a day and a half
Cheers
It really depends on how it's used, if it's a day that the screen is on most of the time & I'm on wifi I can over 6hr on screen time, but totally time on battery won't be much longer. Then only battery saving things I use is shutting BT, GPS, wifi & data if not being used (wifi & data always has either or on) & I use Lux to auto dim using subzero levels in low light(this is probably what helps the most).

Not sure what my time is, but I must charge daily or risk dead phone at night. Phone idle, Android OS, voice calls, display, cell standby and wifi are usually my highest battery users in that order from most to least, everything else is usually 6% or less. Wish I had bought the Maxx as I hate charging daily! Considering buying the Maxx battery conversion kit if rooting and bloatware removal doesn't help enough with battery life.
I didn't vote since I'm not sure on my actual time.

So realistically how's battery life?

I had a Rezound way back when, I have the Nexus now, bad battery life is no stranger to me, I have an upgrade next month and unless the Note 2 drops in price, I have others to choose from between the DNA, Maxx HD, and SGS3.
Obviously the Maxx wins battery but I'm looking at pure power also, so DNA would win there.
I'm looking through all options currently but I'm starting here.
I want to know a realistic idea of battery life/screen time on for this phone for someone who does not game and mostly does texts, web browsing, tapatalk, Google Now, and very little radio streaming.
Basically is it better than the Nexus?
Thanks.

My battery life is amazing I was scared of the battery life on this device but after using it for 3weeks I can say I get on average 10-12 hrs of use with about 3-4 hrs on screen time with a little of everything being used such as facebook, YouTube, espn scorecard, Google now, web browsing, and of course the xda app
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I get through a day just fine. Only time I see a bit of a stretch is on a heavier use day followed by a night out. A midday juice up relieves any worry, but you won't be tethered to a wall outlet like some other phones.
A typical day for me:
30 minutes of reading feeds on Google Currents on morning commute, 3-4 hours of music throughout the day, news check over lunch, 30-40 texts/emails during the day, and another 30 on Currents on the commute home. Usually back home with 50-60% left on the battery.
I came from the Rez, too, and was frankly amazed at the battery life on my DNA. It simply lasts twice as long as my Rezound - no kidding.
FWIW, I think there are at least a couple other threads on this same subject.
Since you don't game this phone will last you a day easy. With anywhere from 3-5 hours screen on time.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I get about the same battery life as I do from my S3, which is about 14 hours on a full charge with 4 hours of on-screen time. Using aqua mail with 3 accounts, 1 gmail, sync is always on, weather updates every hour, about 1 hour of calls and about 30 minutes of killing zombies.
I've been getting battery life similar or slightly greater than my Rezound with an extended battery. Very impressed.
Sent from my HTC Droid DNA
My DNA has been off the charger for 12 hours and 50 minutes and I'm at 17 percent left... and I'm a pretty heavy user.
