[Q] Collective Seraphim Mesosphere Remix fails to install - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hello!
I am currently using The Collective's Seraphim Mesosphere Kang build from the thread in Development from a few weeks ago. The current build is called "Remix", I've downloaded it and installed it via CWM recovery just like I did for my old version, wiped all data and caches, but when I go to install the .zip from sdcard, it fails when opening and aborts installation.
I've tried this twice, once downloading the zip over WiFi and once over 3g in case the zip got corrupted and neither works. The moment it tries to open, it fails.
What am I missing here? Is there and issue with the ROM/zip? Should I try transferring the zip via cable instead of downloading it wirelessly?
Thanks!

That's what I would try...sound's like a corrupt file...I have flashed over and over and no problem...if you have the file on your PC...just for a test...unzip it to a folder with 7zip or whatever you use...usually this will tell you if a file or a folder in the zip is corrupt...if it test good, try using your cable to transfer...good luck!

as mentioned, sounds like possibly a corrupt file
i would download on wifi, then transfer by cable
actually, i would do the md5 hash check to make sure the file is unaltered before transferring

Looks like you guys were right! I downloaded it onto my computer first, then transferred via cable, and it installed totally fine.
The weird thing is that I downloaded the Remix .zip from the same wireless AP, for both the computer and directly onto the phone. Yet only the one on the computer actually worked.
I'm not sure if it was just unlucky and downloaded directly to the phone caused dropped packets/corrupted the data and the computer simply has a better connection or what.
In any case - glad I'm all sorted and up to do now!
Thanks!

[Q] [FIXED] Vegan GE RC1 - Browser not installed

I've tried reinstalling a number of times to no avail, and the thread in the development section doesn't seem to have anything relating to this, but every time I install Vegan-TAB Gingeredition RC1 it's missing the default browser. The tablet boots up just fine, but it's nowhere to be found, not in the dock nor in the application list. I've rebooted, connected to wireless, rebooted again, still nothing. An attempt at a manual install from /system/app/Browser.apk gives me a parsing failure, but I'm not sure if that's supposed to work anyway.
I've also tried re-downloading the zip and the MD5 sums seem to match.
My install method was pretty standard : nvflash to a version with CW, reboot, install 3588 (clear everything), reboot, reinstall CW, reboot, install vegan, clear cache/data/dalvik, reboot.
On top of this, any attempt at opening VeganTAB Settings inside settings immediately crashes.
I feel like it's probably something small and stupid that I'm doing wrong, since everyone else seems to have it working. Any thoughts?
Do you mean the market or a web browser?
If its the market then you need to install gapps
Have you tried using Calkulin's format all? It's attached to this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=985705
Just flash like any update.zip and it will erase everything. Be prepared to have everything erased ...
You could also try repartitioning the SDCard, which will also make sure everything is completely gone ...

The web browser. The market shows up when I connect to a wireless network. I believe gapps is already installed in this ROM.

Hadn't seen that before, I'll give it a whirl when I get home. I keep backup copies on an SD card so I'm fine with blowing everything away. I've repartitioned via CW as well and that didn't seem to help.
I'll see if this fixes it. Thanks!
That seemed to do the trick. I ran the FORMAT ALL script, repartitioned, and even did a manual format of /sdcard. After going from the stock image to 3588, the install of Vegan seemed to work great. Couldn't be happier.
Thanks for the help!

[Q] gingertazz the end

I'm trying to flash gingertazz and recovery said cannot open file(bad) I removed android secure folder with supermanager and did a nand backup. When I went to flash rom I get the error. I placed the rom and gapps in SD card. I have never had issues flashing rom's before! What did I do wrong?
It could just be a bad download. I would suggest downloading from a different file host than the one you used previously. Then try flashing again and see if it works this time.
I went and downloaded it from Hotfile and the MD5sum I'm getting is:
1041c8ad2b4cdddf4845e79bc9efa0f2
Does that match yours? I haven't tried flashing it since I'm working on some things but if yours is different, then one of us has a corrupted file.
That worked thanks! To bad its pretty much the same rom that I had already

Updating HyDrOG3N-ICS and USB not working

Hi!. I hate making my first post in a forum about some problem but I just can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong >.<.
So, I'm running this ROM on my S2 and I'm currently using the one released on 03/23. I want to update it to the latest one (03/31) and keep getting an error when I try to install the zip.
These are the steps I take: 1) Wipe cache 2) Wipe Dalvik 3) Format /system 4) Try to install the .zip file. At this point a get a bunch of "Assertion error" messages on the screen and it goes back CWM menu without actually doing anything.
I know the file was correctly downloaded because the MD5 checksum match.
I have DPI set to 160 and in the attached image you can see more info on the phone's software.
My other problem is that for some reason the USB file transfer stopped working. It worked great when I installed the ROM version that added it but now my computer simply won't detect it.
Thanks.
Flash stock rom start again.

Great, that worked. Thanks.

[Q] Problems with updating Resurrection Remix Rom

Sorry but I need some help. When upgrading roms a few times, no problems ever occurred. CWM always worked smoothly. Now, I have the Resurrection Remix 1.0 Pro installed and was attempting to upgrade to Resurrection Remix 1.2 AOKP. I see that when running CWM I only had to choice to access the "download" folder on the scard. When attempting to install the Remix 1.2 rom, I always end up with an e signature fail. I tried several times but had the same results. I had to reboot and stay with Remix 1.0 until someone can help me get the upgraded rom installed. I wiped all the data and reset, and don't know what else to do.
Please help!!
OK, not sure the procedure you made... but might also be that some files you got were corrupted. Check to see they all are fine before going ahead with this way to install:
Do a full wipe(factory reset+cache+dalvik cache)
Install the Main ROM
Install Siyah-v3.0.1-CWM.zip
Reboot
Do the initial setup of things
Go back to CWM and install navigation button fix
Reboot
Then go back to CWM and install app themes (there are some bugs, but if you want the black themes, then install classic first, then black)
Reboot
Some people have other issues after, but see how this goes.
I would change the DPI settings to 184 or 210 for everything to work fine from market apps.
*if have more problems, just reply here.
Is the file on an external SD?
It's wherever you put it, though some files will only flash properly from external SD.
I think it's the internal sd

At first I thought I had the files on the external sd card, but when rebooting in recovery with CWM it looked like it was only allowing me to access the download folder on the internal sd card.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The CWM that came with the remix 1.0 pro rom is that weird one that seems to have to boot from the other little app. Do you recall this is the CWM zip file that was added to the files to download for the remix 1.0 pro rom. It doesn't appear to have the same flexibility that the CWM had that came with my previously used rom...remix 9.4
Any comments??
With 1.0 its 3e (stock recovery) so you have to put cwm.zip in your external SD or your cache then flash it through 3e. Now you have cwm. If its the one from westcrip its touch so don't use the volume buttons.. actually touch the screen.
Hopefully that helps.

Does the same thing... but it's a touch version.
There is a newer 1.3 version out now for Resurrection Remix with far simpler installing procedure... and people have reported most bugs fixed now (maybe a couple remain to be found).

Now, I'm really scratching my head. When I try installing the 1.3 rom it begins ....but returns this message and then aborts.
E: failed to verify whole-life signature
E: signature verification failed
I re downloaded the rom 1.3 to make sure it wasn't corrupt, and it did the same thing. Then I downloaded remix 1.2 just to see if this would install properly. I got the same result with the failed signature coming up in red and then it aborts. So something is not allowing me to change roms?? At present I have remix 1.0 installed.
Please I need some assistance figuring this out. I don't know what to do now?
Thanks in advance
Check if your current rom is having any beta releases of siyah 3.0, if so then it would be the cause, download cf root, or any latest version of custom kernel in tar format and flash it via Odin, now enter cwm and flash the new rom, you would be good to go
#*posted on the move *#
Works fine ....but is there a GPS problem?
I got the darn thing installed. Thanks. I was able to install the CWM......one that worked properly and the remix 1.3 got installed without a hitch. One problem I'm noticing the the GPS taking a whole bunch of time trying to locate sats. Is there is gps fix ??
Thanks

Fresh Install

Guys,
I've looked long and hard on t'interwebs for an answer to this. I'm currently trying to do do a fresh reinstall on my Prime. My Prime hasn't been unlocked, it was rooted before I did the Jellybean update though and I removed a few Asus apps with Titanium backup. I'm trying to get it to run super smooth so that's why I want the complete fresh reinstall.
I've downloaded the latest V10.4.2.15 WW firmware off the Asus website, and upzipped the file so I'm left with the 2nd zip file which is contains. Put this on a FAT32 formatted SD card. I've also tried to copy this onto the root of the internal memory of the Prime. I just can't get the device to see the firmware and reinstall though. Is this because the device is already running V10.4.2.15? Is their any way around this without unlocking the Prime? I've also tried to reinstall using the boot menu, but it won't give me the option either.
Please help!
I also tried to reinstall the update by putting it on a sdcard and had no luck. I concluded that this method must only work for a true upgrade.

Outside of trying in flash/recovery mode try this:
Rename the Zip file you put on the SDCard for JB to the same name as the last 9.4 OS: US_epad-user-9.4.2.28.zip
With that on the SDCard it may take a removal/reinsert of the SDCard but it should offer to "Downgrade" but once you reboot in to recovery it will be a full flash of new OS. It did NOT wipe my data. I would recommend doing that after. Shutting down and then booting with vol down and power on until the recovery menu comes on then using vol down I believe it is to move the selected option over to "WIPE" then vol up to initiate.
This should yield a "Clean install".
For those nay-sayers out there, I had partial root until I did the above and lost it so I know it overwrites the OS paritition.
Cheers. I'll give that a go when I get home. I'm not too fussed about losing root. I'm even thinking about trading my Prime in for a Nexus 10 depending on the performance of my Prime after the rebuild.
Hmm.. renamed the .zip to WW_epad-user-9.4.2.28.zip but when I when the Prime sees it, I get no notification Tried a reboot but still get nothing. Anyone with any other ideas for this? Can anyone else confirm this works for them?

Hrm, I just did it again with the US version because my exchange syncing broke.
My file was called US_epad-user-9.4.2.28.zip
Again, this assumes you have unzipped the official ASUS ROM download from their site and unzipped that file. This will yield a new zip file which is what I renambed and put on the ROOT of my SD card formated as FAT.
I just wrapped it up too, did a full app backup with the asus tool, wiped, reflashed this ROM again and restored and resynced exchange.
You might try giving it the US name. I don't think it would matter because the contents are correct for your device.
I'll try and format the card as FAT instead of FAT32. I'll also try US. Really hope this works!

No dice I'm afraid. Tried a different SD card and renaming it US but get no option to update
