That is my understanding of why they went to the new connector...

Hi together,
ive asked me if it is possible to use an adapter for 1x micro usb (plug) -> 2x micro usb (jack).
Could the phone handle 2 USB devices at the same time?
Maybe then it is possible to use the HDMI output and the USB host parallel?
For example to use an TV as screen and an HDD as the source for a movie.
This would be nice.
Thanks in advance.

When the connector is used for HDMI I doubt it can be used as USB at the same time, I'n sorry.
Maybe in a few months cyanogenmod provides a hack, if there will be an dual adapter soon.
We will see. Thank you.

The hardware needs to allow this if it'd become possible. You need a really smart USB dongle that knows how to split the HDMI output from the USB output.
Sounds a little too difficult to ever happen.
Hmm thats right. I think i still dream xD
But thank you.

it is not possible. because as stated on this forum many times before, the type of usb connection is determined by the resistor between pin 4 and 5 of the micro usb connector. the strength can tell the phone, that there is either a charger, a pc connection, car kit, jig, usb otg or mhl connection present.
and i believe, this is an important thing to keep in mind for so many things:
for instance, why the original car kit triggers car mode and generic car charging cables don't or why not just any micro usb male to usb a female will work as a otg cable or why flashing should be done with the original usb cable...
so if you were to buy or build a micro usb hub, since it has no resistor in the very plug that connects to the phone, it cannot be used for anything but charging and quite frankly, i wouldn't connect more than one charger to the phone.
however, if you want to use your phone for presentations or watching movies and still be able to use it, get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse or a bluetooth presenter or do it the other way around and use a usb input device and transfer your media using allshare. everything else is physically impossible, so neither CM nor XDA can do anything about it. the only device that can do what you want is the new motorola. it has a separate micro usb and micro hdmi port and a docking station, so you can use it as a full notebook.
Thats obvious. Thank you.

Hi guys. I just bought an OTG cable with micro usb male. I tried looking for one with a galaxy tab male connector so that I could use it on my tab 2, but unfortunately I couldn't find one. So I decided to buy the otg cable AND a data cable of the tab. So I'm wondering what would happen if i cut them both open then connect them to each other. Would it work? They both ARE for data transfer anyways. I know this is my first post, and I'm kind of a noob, but please help me on this. thanks
OTG cables have the ID pin grounded at the connector that plugs in the device.
If the 30 pin data cable you have has a 4 pin full-size USB male on the other end, the ID connection is not carried through.
You could massacre the 30 pin, gain access to the ID pin and ground it there.
If the 30 pin data cable that you have has a 5 pin micro USB female on the other end then the ID connection might be carried through, but I kind of doubt it.
Hi 1 week ago i bought this cable to connect my phone with LCD radio in car which have AV input. Can somebody help me if this cable is even good for s3 LTE and which micro usb is using (5 or 11 pin type) . Do anybody have experience with that and already connect s3?
The cable must be 11 pin and designed to work with the S3 model you have. The device you connect it to must also be MHL enabled.
Hello
Can someone tell me the exact type of USB connector is on the Samsung Galaxy View. Then manual only says
it's a USB connector V2.
I've ordered the device but have not received it yet. But trying to determine if the connector is USB v2 or micro USB connector?
Want to plug in an ethernet adapter.
Thanks in advance

The port is micro-USB (not to be confused with mini-USB). Although most stores don't mention it, most reviews do. The Gizmodo review even has a close-up picture: https://gizmodo.com/samsung-galaxy-view-review-i-love-this-magical-slab-of-1740835366
i would recommend grabbing a micro usb "cable" OTA adapter - you can utilize it for all usb storage, upgrades, etc, etc.... they make a hard snap in adapter but use caution on them as for as easy as they snap in , they also snap out breaking your port with it. The cable adapters are way more flexible and with the tablet being so large in the first place it really doesn't make a difference if it's dangling on the side.
I am buying a Samsung Tab S 8.4" T700. I was wondering if there were a part to replace the micro USB port with a USB C port. Poking around it looks like there are lots of T700/T705/T100 replacement micro USB ports, but it could just may to be too have gotten a C option.
Thanks for your help, have a nice weekend, and stay safe!
As per description this tablet supports USB OTG ( USB-C ).
Anyway it exist USB-C to USB adapters
Sorry, I meant the modern ovular one. I don't like carrying around things I lose easily.
