My Xperia S got a swim today, fully imersed during a few seconds.
Got a grab of it, dried as much as could with TP, still working ! I think the covers on HDMI and USB ports saved it. The only real open space is the jack plug which look almost waterproof in www dot sonymania.cz/storage/1331332888_sb_xperia_s_wi.pdf, and the speakers, which have some joints. So, kids don't try this at home, but apparently the xperia S is enough of a compact self-contained tight son of a ***** that it can handle water (probably not prolonged though). Considering Sony made the waterproof acro S, maybe some parts got also in other xperia phones
The red water damage sticker got red though, and it's a bummer if I ever want to get it repaired in a few months or something with something unrelated to the swim.
You probably just got lucky, I wouldn't test it

I am having a problem with the prime casing.
Its kinda hard to explain so i made some pictures. What should i do?
Did you receive it that way? It is strange, especially since I don't think the charger would be nearly strong enough to bend the aluminum....sounds like an rma
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
Call ASUS, ask the representative for an email address to send your photos to and/or how to proceed. You souls be able to get an RMA. You could return it to the store though for a replacement or refund.
I am a bit worried about the bend because it might be stressing the glass (last thing I want) along with the discoloration (no idea what is causing it but its ugly and I don't like spending $500 on something like that.)
I could be wrong....but didn't you post this?

Looks like self inflicted? and would explain the damage.....
So Lets Review:
You dropped your prime
Noticed Damage
Maybe you can find someone that can help you bend it back so that it does not stress the glass.
Also might have been able to tie these 2 threads together.

First up, the drop was face down so it would not have discolored the back.
Second up, the drop was face down and nothing was plugged in. Thus, that wasn't what damaged it. Besides, the drop happened BEFORE (like a week) that this damage was noticed. (Im not entirely sure how this happened.)
And third up, while I showed the bent metal, I was more worried about the pressure that it might be exerting on the glass.
And finally, I am worried about why the back is discoloring which is NOT user damage.
Looks to me like something's eating away a protective coating...
Have you handled your Prime after coming in contact with rubbing alcohol or anything similar? (like Germ-X)
And you can bend the little piece of metal above the charging dock back, it's not doing anything to your screen. Mine got bent when I started my opening process right in that spot and went right back with no problem...

The tablet feels sturdy and all, but aluminum is ridiculously soft and light (why it's used).
Again, mine happened when opening the tablet and so was bent the other direction, but it didn't take anything at all to shape it back.

Well practiced ... uhh ... fingers??? You know, from all that tapping on the screen!
it happened to me too...I didn't notice notice by the 3rd week of using it. It must be bent when charging it, or it was shipped that way....anyway, the aluminum is very soft. I probably bended by the charger's adapter.
I've also bent mine back into shape, I think the charger bent it, as it was within days of getting the thing, long before I ever dreamed of opening it. I also used my finger.

my first prime had that also I thought it was from opening and closing the dock but my new one hasn't budged even in the dock. I am now thinking that it came that way ( I noticed it 2-3 days after I got it). I now think that maybe it happens in the factory if they dock them to load the OS or do diagnostics of some sort before shipping them and the tech just isn't careful docking or undocking.

Yeah, looks that way to me as well. Man, you really did a number on this one in a short period of time, eh? Lots of scuffs and scratches on the back, bent charge port on the front....
Hard to believe it just happened on its own accord. Those are the typical scuff marks you would see on brushed metal that had been rubbed and scraped. And the scratches on the back are pretty bad as well.
I have the bent charge port as well. Looks like the HDMI port is bent up as well. The cable connections are very loose, and I'm sure this is part of the cause. I have been struggling with the HDMI port since it stopped working lately, but it very surprising how this could happen so easily.

I know many have too but mine dropped screen first. And guess what happened. It shattered. Woops, typo, I mean I shattered with happiness because it didn't break., though I do have very ugly scratches or the white plastic right on top of the glass. I have a barely there kijj case so no scratches on the sides
Just assuring you that out phone is much more stronger than the s3
I dropped it accidentally from about 1.6 metres into bricks, SCREEN LAYING FLAT! therefore I thought my xs screen was done for.
Though I heard the bottom signal thingy is poorly built (oh yeah a few odd marks there thanks to the drop) ... Lucky mine dropped from the top first
Also have scratches on my screen protector which I'll be replacing

Hopefully I won't drop my SXS
My XS dropped out of my pocket whilst I was sitting on concrete... Fell less than 10cm and I have a nasty chip in the bottom part... That bit definitely isnt well built.
However the phone did then land screen down on some loose stones and there wasnt even a scratch
Anyone know if you can replace the bottom part?

One side of mine removed easily. The other not so much. But seeing as it's advised not to reuse. I'm now wondering what to do too.
So to say the least I have beaten this phone pretty hard.. Dropped it more times than any other phone and no cracks just dings but what happened today takes the prize...
So i was in the shower with the phone on the sink counter and my alarm started going off, I heard it going off for maybe a straight minute and then all I heard was bam bam PLUNK. the damn thing vibrated itself off the counter bounced off the toilet paper roll straight into the toilet... Completely emerge the phone was still on, alarm was still going, and everything still works!! (after taking it apart and letting a fan blow on it for a bit)
Never had this happen before but it seems I got lucky!

Indeed, mine progressed today to the point the screen does not register any input. I can't wait for my replacement to arrive, my old 3GS is exceptionally painful to use.
I've a chip in the plastic next to the volume rocker, and a small split where the glass casing and sides meet. Fixed by cheap case.

Agree with the others here. The phone is just too damn slick to put a case on, for me at least. I love a naked phone and will take the chance. However I try to be extremely concious and careful when taking it in and out of my pocket. If its not in there then its on my desk nice and flat nowhere near an edge lol.
I'm not gonna push my luck though. Glass back and glass front? I feel like if it hit the ground in any way shape or form its gonna break. Super slick phone but super delicate. However I wouldnt have it any other way.

I don't consider this good advice. My phone slipped out of my jacket pocket as I was taking it off and it hit the ground with a bottom corner which sent an arched crack up the bottom portion of my phone in the glass. It's not shattered or falling out of the phone, but it's still fragile.

Obviously not, however some kind of miracle happened that defies logic.
Yesterday it was raining very badly. At the security gate for work, there was a mini lake on the road. Granted I had phone in my hand without a case.
Decided to try and jump it, only jumped halfway (thank goodness for water resistant shoes) then ran to clear the rest... (ended up tripping)
The note 2 flew out of my hands, decided it was a bird and kept going till it hit the side of a building like 4 yards in front of me (brick)
...it doesnt even have bumper damage just a micro crack on the corner glass bezel up till the screen protector that's about 4mm...
Spen removal no longer brings up s notes though. Boo...

That's one way to turn off s note pop up.
Luck you. I had my n2 in my pocket from my hoodie. Leaned over into my car to grab something and it fell out. Seriously not even 3 feet off the ground. Screen has a small crack on side and about 5 dents all over the sides. S pen did NOT fly out though. My heart stopped as soon as I heard it hit the ground.

Return the phone at once to where you made your purchase. Insist on either a new phone or a full refund. No brainer.

I'm sorry, bad English.
Several cases occurred in the same issue, even in our country.
But the problem is the fault of the customer, according to Sony service center.
Many people are angry, but they do not change attitudes.
Sony's quality control is questionable, but they do not recognize it either.
I hope you look forward to a good result. Please let us know results later!
I tohught i'd found someone that had the charging port always crooked problem this is much different.
that is something to look out for.
Worried now as i use the magnetic port exclusively.
This just happened to me today. I removed my phone from the dock this morning and the port was detached from the phone and was stuck on the dock its already my second phone as the first one had digitizer lines, gaps etc.
I'm on my third device now. Just happened to me on monday but I was using a third party charging cable.
it looks like the port is just glued in with the contacts being pushed into the phone. I would have thought they would have made it with a lip so it could not be pulled out!? or is that to much like common sense lol.
This is hilarious, I can't believe this have happened to the charging port, it looks very sturdy.
i was planning to buy this (it has really good reviews, 5 stars on all the reviews,.... although its only like 9 people that reviewed it)
http://www.amazon.com/Magnector-Per...402475479&sr=8-4&keywords=z2+magnetic+charger
it says that it has twice the Magnetic Power than original Sony Xperia Charging Cable.... that sounds good because i heard the original one is kinda weak and disconnects easy,.... but in the other hand it increases the possibility of making the magnetic port loose,.....
has anyone tried this product yet????

Common sense does not exist in the corporate world. They are mutually exclusive (save for some extenuating circumstances).
So how does this affect waterproofing, is the phone stilled even if the port isn't in?
If it is then I wouldn't mind having to put dab of glue and shove it back in if mine ever came out.
If it's not then it might have been a leakage point for some of the people that ended up with moisture inside after phone is submerged.
I guess I'm going to have look for those tear down photos & see if it shows details of the frame/magnetic port.
Sent from my D6503 using Xparent Red Tapatalk 2
Well this is awkward. My port just came loose after using Sony original magnetic charger. Darn that's annoying, guess I have to return it. Should I relock the Bootloader? It doesn't have anything to do with software..

I just sent it for repair, not sure if they can fix it or I get a new phone. Hopefully it's not "my fault". I will update when I hear from them.
Please update me, mine did not come out but at the opposite it looks like it's being pushed in, there is a tiny gap showing on the left side as if it's going to fall inside the phone from one side.
