[Q] Anyone know if the WiFi is capable of 40mhz wide? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Does anyone know if the GSIII is capable of 40 MHz wide on the 2.4/5 Ghz bands? Is it just 20?

40 works.

Do you get >150 on the link speed.?

AUS and UK Atrix has only HSUPA 2.0 Mbps but support for 900 MHz, why?

I just took a look at Atrix on Motorola AU and UK and in the tech specs it says
"HSDPA 14.4 Mbps (Category 10), HSUPA 2.0 Mbps"
wheras US and CA has 5.76 Mbps (...uncapped that is). But they do have support for UMTS 900 MHz which US and CA lacks.
Does anyone know why this is the case? Is it different radio chips for different markets or is it just software?
Just software. Canadian phone is a world phone version and therefore supports all of that by default. It's simpler to disable upport through software than to have to manufacture completely differnt phones

No the Canadian and US Atrix does not support 3G on 900MHz, the question is why?

I've been asking this question a lot on here, and I get a mixed bag of answers and criticism by other users ... but no defined YES or NO...

What's the max speed of the wifi?

Looks like it's capped at 10mbps as far I can tell on my local network
Nope, I've had 24mbps (download) on mine.
Got full speed here too. 15 Mbps.

Can we enable AT&T 3G on 900 MHz?

Is there any possible solution to enable 3G on 900MHz for AT&T Atrix? As I check its spec, it's available only 850 / 1900 but my cellphone provide is 900 MHz. Please suggest and thank you in advance
Short answer...no. You can't change the radios frequency.

No. You should get a phone with 900 mhz radio.
I voided my warranty.
maybe if you were REAAAAALLLLY good with some solder....

High ping on O1 and low ping on micromax a52

I tested the ping on speedtest.net app and on cs1.6
Btw i have reliance 3g and i get download speed 700 kB/s on mmx a52 and 550kB/s on lg p500
And 45 ping on a52 and 110. On p500
I play counter strike and 40-50 ping is ok for playing but 110 ping is high and the game lags
So what‘s the reason for high ping on. Lgp500 ?
Is it the processor ? Coz mmx a52 has 1 ghZ ? Or some other reason
And is der any solution to lower ping ?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
Well its due to HSUPA
(High-Speed Uplink Packet Access)
optimus one doesn't have it, it only have HSDPA(High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) but micromax a52 does(HSDPA+HSUPA).
and me also had the same problem with call of duty so i use my optimus 2x less ping+good registry
And btw as it is a hardware limitation there is no solution to this.

[Q] Any overheating with 3g/4g lte?

please guys can any one tell me if there is any problems with overheating when using Internet with 3g or 4g Lte.. i used the first xperia Z and it was getting very hot when using 3g Internet only for normal using and i read also problems with z1 about overheating as well.. i really want to get z2 but am afraid of i will get the same problem
please guys share your experiences with this problem if you have any
I haven't had any over heating issues with long time browsing or video viewing. Rumor has it, long 4K video recording will cause heating issue.
Just read something on Android Central stating Z2 uses heat pipe tech to aid in cooling.

thank you for ur reply, but can you be more specific.. you said you used the phone for long hours on browsing and video playback without any problems with overheating BUT is that on 3g or 4g Lte,, or normal wifi?
my concern on 4g Lte. i want to get this phone with T-mobile contract for 2 years, so I want to be very sure of this issue which i had it on my first xperia Z
plus if you can also mention the battery drain how is it on 4g or 3g which one you use..
thank you so much and i wish to hear from more people on this specific situation

Doesn't look like a heatpipe there: http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/03/30/xperia-z2-disassembly-guide/
More like some standard issue aluminium radiators.

Watching MLB on LTE. In any event, signal strength will play a part in this experiment also. Let's see what other users have to say.

Looks like a heatpipe runs from the CPU main heat sink to the side of the magnetic charging port in there to me.

Guys, I have a problem. I relative of mine is going to buy me a Z2 from Taiwan. I live in Romania and I wonder if the phone will be compatible with the 3 and 4G network in my country, since it was made for Taiwan.
Thank you!
Find out what bands your carrier utilizes and check the specs for Z2 and see if they're included.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I see. But where can I find those specs? On the box? The phone is going to be bought online. The box will only be seen after it's paid.

Depends on model number, D6502, D6503 or D6543. Find out which model number you will be getting and then check bands available for that model here:
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-z2/specifications/
where it states download whitepaper.

Z2 should have something like this:
Model- D6503

1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20)
Or like this:
Model- D6543

Thank you!
Make sure the LTE bands (if available on your network) your network utilizes are listed.
Incidentally, I apologize to op for highjacking this thread.

If the Z1-C6903 had all the bands required by my mobile operator, then Z2-D6503 does the same and even has some more. Therefor, I'll look fot D6503 model number.
Thank you and please accept my apologize if I was off topic and also forced augie to be off topic too.

I'm Romanian too and I'm also waiting for Sony Z2 to be available. I looked into it and Romanian carriers use 3 and 7 LTE bands (1800 and 2600 Mhz).
please stick with the topic.. this topic talking about overheating with 4g or 3g using.. not the availability of 4g
