Stock GB
Stock GB w/ OC'd Kernel. I'm not giving up BLN anytime soon. It's a phone first, toy second.

I like tablet mode so I'm using either Jamie's PA hybrid or FJ's CM9 mashup. Both work really well.

Goldie/Beta 5. Love the tw from sgs3, and most of all, beats working on this rom, haven't been able to make it work on any version of CM9.

BLN?

There's a custom kernel feature for GB that allows the phone's touch keys to work like notification LEDs... The BLN (Backlight notification) app enables it.

I'm hopping back and forth between FJ's Mashup and JamieD's Paranoid.
Tempted to try UCLF5...but meh...not really missing the S-Pen stuff anymore. Having too much fun in Tablet mode.
Now, if the Hybrid Rom could be more refined like the CM9/AOSP Tablet/hybrid roms, i would go back to UCLE2/UCLF5.
Full S-Pen stuff w/ hybrid tablet mode would be perfect.

I gotta agree with you on that last part. I hate that I can't seem to stay away from the S-pen functional roms, even though I hardly use it. I am still trying to decide if I need full tablet mode, or if 240dpi with a nice launcher in landscape is enough.

Its INFURIATING that Samsung left out this android feature on the Note. There was no reason for it. I got so used to it on my Atrix.

Yea, what about froyo? !

I tried the sc 2.4 last week. I found the sleep of death very hindering. I also noticed it was not as snappy and polished as the dj05 voodoo setup I love. so, besides the lock screens, what exactly does everyone find in froyo that's so great as to make you put up with issues like this? One of the things I heard froyo offered was push notifications. However, my facebook did not push anything to my phone. I still had to go check manually..
thanks I'm advance for any input.

It has the notification pull down, but it doesn't have the buttons (wifi, BT, GPS, airplane/mobile data+rotation lock toggles, or clear notifications- the only way to remove them in AOSP is to click each notification).

With froyo leaks, we could have an actual voodoo kernels and even overclocked ones.
Once the official Froyo build is out Samsung SHOULD release the source code shortly afterwards. This'll allow for things like Voodoo Sound and other major tweaks that we can't get now.

jt's AOSP rom can be used with/without Voodoo kernel. I'm not sure what Kaze105 is talking about, because with just a leak, we can't have a Voodoo sound or overclocked/undervolted kernels (unless someone goes through a lot of work to port things around, or does some nasty and risky mods to the leaked kernels).

Nothing... other than that'd be non-AOSP. Why'd I want AOSP when I could get something like CyanogenMod, which is an improved and refined version of AOSP? Or MIUI, which is a radical modification to AOSP?
Really it's all personal preference. Some people might prefer the tweaks that come with TouchWiz, some might hate them. Some might prefer AOSP, some might not... can you see where I'm going here? Different strokes for different folks (and the release of the source for 2.2 should help a lot of the roms/mods a fair bit, since they won't have to rely on Eclair ports or ugly hacks).

Stock based vs CM7.2 based custom roms :)

Guys i've started this thread to discuss about stock and cm based custom roms
1)which is better in what way
2)battery life
3)gaming performance
4)tweaks available for each
i felt that there is no thread related to this that's why started one
for battery, stock is the best
Stock FTW
Better battery, stable, camera, dialer, music and mms are very good.
Personally I miss tw goodies like integrated task manager button, camera and music player in CM7 so Stock is better for me
Yeah stock is stable, but so is cm7.
However, you miss out on the newer features offered in the cm9/ cm10 /aokp/ paranoid android roms.
I'm using PAC by nims11.
The main reason I personally prefer cm7 over stock is multitasking. On stock if I am using one application and switch to another, then switch back, my place is lost and often the first app has been killed and has to restart. That might be why cm7 supposedly uses more battery (I don't notice a difference personally, but I use my phone a lot)
I'm also not a fan of touchwiz and prefer the customization of cm7.
I love trying new roms no matter what the android version; 2.3.6, 2.3.7, 4.0 or 4.1
Kudos to all the Dev's working hard to make my old crappy ace awesome!

CM7 is best..
A little bit battery drain than stock but has more costomization for daily use..also has no bugs.. all the things is working and stable..
Actually our opinions always have a touch of personal experience. Some people use the stock based just the way they are & some people tweak it more. I've seen that the sgs II v10.1 has a great multi tasking capability ( atleast for me...) . Kranti.ace has really brought out a revolution as his name says. His rom is pretty smooth & he's promising further improvisation. What else to expect? Just the devs to bring out the better of what's already best...
I used to have beautiful life before. Now I'm in engineering...!

Difference between AOSP and non-AOSP rom

I saw a thread comparing both beans rom and cleanrom. Beans being AOSP and cleanrom non-AOSP. What is the not so technical definition of AOSP and what are the benefits and downfalls of both AOSP and non-AOSP roms?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Technically they are both touchwiz.
Beans has an AOSP look.
Neither are true AOSP.
AOSP is android a it was meant to be.
Everything else has add-ons on top of android. Touchwiz. Sense. Blur. Etc.

Is there any "true" AOSP roms for the note 2?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
CM10 under Original Development, and AOKP, Pacman, and Paranoid Android under Development are all AOSP(Android Open Source Project)
These ROMs are still in their alpha stage though on this device, so be sure to read through the threads to find out what's working and what's not. They are actually excellent builds for only being alpha, but they do have bugs that may make it unusable for some as a daily driver. Just give them some time though, they will be rock solid before too long.
The cool thing about any AOSP ROM is they all have tons of customization options, from status bar clock and battery tweaks, to lock screen modifications, built in performance options, System and per app DPI changes, etc.
The main downside would be it's no longer TouchWiz, so you're going to lose some of your motion options like swipe screen to do screen capture, direct call, smart stay, and will also lose the S-Pen tricks such as air hover, long pressing on the screen while clicking button for screen shot (which you can immediately draw on and share) and all of the other neat little things TouchWiz integrated, but there are a lot of apps on the play store that can replace these functionalities, and the pen still works fine as a normal stylus.

[Q] Best HTC Sense ROM for Rezound?

HTC Rezound
Stock ICS Rom - Rooted 4.0.3 Sense 3.6
S-ON
I'm looking for a new ROM for my phone, because the Stock ROM runs kind of slow. I've tried using Liquid Cool 2.9, but I had problems with reboots. I also could not change the default keyboard to the standard T9/Phone layout that Sense 3.6 has.
I'm having trouble finding a good Sense ROM to try out that might run much better than the Stock ROM. I'm requesting Sense in the hopes that it will have the T9/Standard phone keypad layout as an option.
I use EclipticRez v9 with the latest Lunar kernel. It is by Hawknest in the Android Development section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1962230 The ROM is linked off-site and the latest kernel package for it by Snuzzo is near the end of the thread currently. This has been a very snappy ROM/kernel combo for me. It does have the keyboard/phone/compact layout options on the HTC stock keyboard.
Sundream's Sense 4.1/4.5/5 hybrid ROM has a lot of promise too, but have yet to give it a go. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419155
I would recommend to also consider looking harder for an aftermarket keyboard that has the layout you prefer and add that onto a Jelly Bean ROM if any of those work well for you.

Check PM if a Google search didn't do it for you.
Yes, Camera works well with more features than stock. Camcorder too. The only warning with those is *not* to attempt to take pics during video recording(keeps recording, but freezes display until exiting app), and avoid using burst shots on camera by holding button for shutter (sometimes works, sometimes crashes. No harm in trying on non-vital shots.) These are not features in stock camera, so nothing *lost* here feature-wise. Just don't have the extra processing chip newer HTC phones have dedicated for image processing.
Beats Audio is universal on apps on headset plugin, just like Sense 4 and up. Works fine and better than 3.6.
But it does have the phone compact keyboard? I would love a jb ROM if it had beats and could find the phone keyboard layout

EclipticRez has that layout. Uncertain which JB ROMs if any have that built in; may wish to find one you like first then ask about it for that particular ROM - or just try it. Try out Play Store keyboards as well. Still searching for one suitable here.
There may be Beats aftermarket mods on XDA for JB now, I also suggest the one I PM'ed as well, Viper4Android Audio.

Hawknest's Ecliptic Rez was updated in May of this year to v.9. and Snuzzo
has been updating kernels constantly - last ones this week.
This sure is a daily user, no hiccups anywhere.
Great on battery with Funky Kernel.
I've flashed most all the custom roms trying new stuff, but keep coming back to ERez.
Another Vote for Ecliptic V9
I'm 99% sure I'd be done with my Rezound if it weren't for this ROM. Definitely a daily driver.
This is a ROM that I'd feel comfortable putting on someone else's phone. On my stuff, I'm willing to mess around and deal with odd bugs, but this is a daily driver for sure.
Sundreams ROM is good too
