I apologize for my bad english, I'm from Portugal, and got my xperia s locked by the operator. In "service info" in Bootloader unlock allowed says "no".
There is already some way to unlock the bootloader, even unofficially?
Nope, sorry.

go to phoneunlockserver.com and jinx will enable fastboot on your phone and then you can unlock the bootloader with official way.
only thing is that S1 servers are down for now.

How do I know if I have a locked bootloader?
I read in wikipedia that the international version has an unlocked bootloader, is this true?
Does that mean that if I bought my phone out of the us (Mexico) I have an unlocked bootloader?
Cheers

Any x10 when bought new has a locked bootloader, it doesn't matter which country it came from, the bootloader will be locked, as sony ericsson had an agreement with the network carriers at the time it was released not to unlock the bootloader.

You need to dial this *#*#7378423#*#* Then go to Service info>Configuration then read Bootloader unlock allowed, it will say yes or no, if yours says no you cant unlock your bootloader even if you have sim unlock.

I though you could unlock the bootloader if you didnt have a sim-locked phone. So what/who dictates whether or not a phone can be bootloader unlocked then?
Its unrelated to simlock, but your carrier is the one who made it un-unlockable. Its a shame unfortunately many of us are in your boat

Xperia RAY
Currently running Gingerbread 2.3.4
My phone is locked to the network o2UK and the bootloader is set to LOCKED
I've tried to unlock the bootloader but in the services menu it says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: NO'
My question is, how would i get the bootloader unlocked or are there any 'work arounds' to get root
Thanks!
okay, first... rooting n unlocking bootloader isn't same... root can be done to locked, unlocked, bootloader status : no and bootloader status : yes...

Yes, and in the time it took to write your thread you could have found them by googling or browsing the general section.
