Way to hide app from Market? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I use GoSMS and recently learned the devs made the stupid decision of removing local backup of sms/mms so I had to restore a previous build using TB. Is there a way to hide GoSMS from the Market so it's not always showing as needing to update? I don't like it showing because I'll always have to be careful when hitting 'update all' when there are a bunch of updates, not to mention getting the 'update available' notification.

There's a option to break market link with Rom toolbox im not sure but tht should work
sent from my marvelc with cm9

you can use TB to detach the app from the market as well, just long press the app for the menu to pop up

I tried detaching from market via TB and it didn't work, even cleared the market cache but no go. Might have to look into ROM toolbox even though I already have apps that do what it does.

After you remove the market link, boot into recovery and wipe cache/dalvik-cache. Try that.

Convert it to a system app. Even if it updates you can uninstall the updates?

[Q] Cant see installed apps in market

After reinstalling apps from a backup/restore app they are working properly on the phone but dont show up under "my apps" in the market. Ive experienced this before with changing roms and was always able to fix via settings, manage apps, market, clear data. Now the clear data option isnt available. Anyone else experiencing this of have any solutions
I sure have, use titanium backup and long press the app on the list off apps and chose force link to market and you will be all set!

Actually an easier fix is, in titanium backup hit menu and choose more then market doctor, let me know if it works for you!

How can one use Titanium Backup? The phone isn't rooted yet. If there is a workaround, I'd love to know!

You can't titanium backup requires root, but you wouldn't really need to backup apps unless your flashing different roms which would require root

Android Market "My Apps" completely blank

For a week or so now, whenever I go to the Android Market, and then go to My Apps to check for updates, there is not a single app listed there. There is no error message given. I am on the right account (I have only one Gmail account on the phone). Also, I tried clearing the cache and clearing the data from the Market in Settings > Manage Applications. I am rooted and unlocked on a stock MoPho ROM. I also tried uninstalling the market updates and using Titanium Backup's Market Doctor.
Thanks for any help.

That's odd. Do your apps display on market.android.com?

This -
sounds like your gmail account might be jacked up. Possibly using on more than one device? I mean you can use it on more than one device - I do. But I am not sure if it would do something like this in an odd situation.
Yes, they are there on the web market.
Honestly, at this point it seems like a backend issue with Google.
If I search for an app that's installed, it shows up as installed. It will even tell me it can be updated if there is an update. This is on the phone Market, not the web.

You may want to check which GMail acct. The market is using when you check your apps. I have 3 accts on my phone, and the same has happened to me, because the market switches them from time to time. You can check by going to "my apps" and hitting menu. You'll see an accounts option. Hitting that will tell you which acct the market is using, and allow you to switch back to your primary.

Me to but I think it happened when I installed an updated market.apk.

I've had the identical experience starting the day before yesterday. The account is correct and i even deleted my other account just in case. I tried uninstalling the market update and freezing the updater but that gives me an error message when i go to My Apps and crashes the market. A few apps will show on my other account's but not nearly all.

I just updated my market to 3.3.1.1 and no change except instead of a completely white screen, it now tells me "Applications and games owned by this account will appear here" and no apps are shown.
market just started doing the same thing. Never happened before. Weird...
happening here too
Is anyone having this issue on the 3.3.1.1 market?
Do you mean 3.3.11?
I haven't experienced it yet. But it happened to me a few times on the previous version.
I just went to data/data/com.android.vending, deleted everything, deleted data/dalvik-cache, rebooted and everything synced perfectly afterwards...

Yes. the 3.3.11 I hit too many periods. I haven't had this issue either. Nor did I ever with previous versions of the market, so I'm not sure, that is kinda strange.

I posted just before your post the new market didn't change anything.
Hm. That is strange. And clearing cache and such didn't work? Do you possibly have a backup of before the problem started?

I have this problem on both my EVO 3D and HP TouchPad which is running CM7. It started on Monday or Tuesday.
Both have the same gmail account configured. I have cleared market data and even went as far as performing a factory reset.
I have to admin, this problem is pretty annoying.
I filled out the contact form a couple of days ago but haven't heard back from anyone: http://www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/request.py?contact_type=market_phone_tablet

[Solved] Cannot purchase app because market thinks I already have it.

I "acquired" an apk for an app and now I'd like to buy it but the market only gives me an option to update the app and when I do it tells me that I haven't bought it.
I've tried uninstaling, clearing market cache, installing through online market, delinking from market in tb but nothing works.
Any ideas on how I can make the market forget that I ever had this app?
You said you tried uninstalling; what did you uninstall? The market or the app?
I've got the same problem. Installed one of Getjar's gold apps (free apps that are paid on the market). Got fed up of it sitting there in the Android Market's updates list (it seems not all developers bother pushing updates to getjar, and you still have to manually redownload to see if there's an update) but I can't get the Market to let me buy it - it seems to have latched on to the getjar version.
When I uninstall the app, it shows up in the market as purchased, but attempting to download fails the additional checks. Since it thinks its already purchased, I can't buy it.
I tried clearing the market data and cache, but that doesn't make a difference
Try installing the app again and clearing the data for that app and then uninstall .. Also check your sd card to see if you have app data on there

Both. First it was the app and now I've update market too. It's definitely a market issue as when I check it out online it shows as "purchased".
I just found a solution - find the app on the web marketplace, and it'll let you buy it there, then the phone will happily update.

With the app being uninstalled, when you go in the market and try to re-download the app, what happens?

The app shows up with "purchased " next to it. I then click on that followed by Install but then a toast message appears saying that it's not been bought.
In the web market it also says purchased although that's where I'm going to dig around next.

Weird situation. Here's an idea: Re-install the apk file which you "acquired", then uninstall it through the market. See if this fixes your problem..

That's the problem - when an item needs to be updated in the market you only get options to Open and Update rather than Open and Uninstall. I could try to get the "acquired" version update and then uninstall that I suppose.

Yes you could. Also, you don't always get Open and Update. Sometimes you may see it say Update and Uninstall and if you click update and it fails (for some reason), then it changes to Open and Update.
Don't uninstall from the market use your stock app manager or titanium backup if you have it but first clear all traces of the app your trying to un install.. Cuz their may be some kind of cookie/data Installed that is telling the market you already have it

OK having tried uninstaling through different methods I've managed to solve it.
I used the Old Market app to replace my 3* version and I was able to officially uninstall and then purchase the app.

Hi,
great to hear that you found a solution. I have the same problem here. Can you provide a download link to the old Market version you used?
Thanks a lot
Wrapp
I had the same problem and this is what I ended up doing.
Under Manage Applications/all
clear data and uninstall updates for market
clear data for download manager
Now I opened market and had the old/original market back, before it updated again I searched for the app that was bugged and it let me purchase/install it on the old market. A minute later the market was auto updated. Not sure what steps were actually needed but this is what worked for me. GL

Can you, please, share the old Market apk?
Just install the "acquired" version, then goto Market and un-install it. After that the market will show an option to purchase.
I had the same problem. I installed version2.2.6 of the market. and searched quickly for the app that said purchased before the market updated automatically. It let me purchase it. Problem Solved. I would post the link, but I don't have enough posts here.

Wiped before flashing new rom, apps wont come back

So typically my apps will automatically come back but this time they didnt.
I wiped before I installed MIUI, and under "My apps" it only shows the apps I paid for, not the free ones. So I lost a ton of apps and I cant remember them all.
Any ideas here?

Titanium backup would have made it easy for you. It doesn't rely on backing up with Google. Do you have sync active? If you backed them up with Google you should be able to get them back. I'm not too sure because I use tibu

What's the best way to uninstall a corrupted app that can't be uninstalled normally?

Once in a while, an app gets corrupted such that trying to access it in the apps manager crashes the apps manager - thus, it can't be uninstalled normally.
I've noticed that sometimes when this happens, the name of the app in the apps manager changes as well (from the friendly name to the internal one - like com.developername.appname).
What's the best way to uninstall a corrupted app like this? Is there a good app to handle situations like this, or is it best to do it by hand - in which case, what's the procedure?
Is it just a matter of deleting anything that seems related in /data/app, /data/app-private, and /data/data?
What kind's of app crashes? If it is a system app then sometimes a Factory Reset could solve the problem, but not for good. Are you rooted? If you are rooted you could flash a new ROM. Sometimes stock ROM's aren't always the most stable. If you are not rooted then I would try to get root. Hope this helps
Oh, we're not talking about anything catastrophic that would require flashing a new ROM. Just regular misbehaving user-installed apps.
What's the best way to deal with those?

Guess you didn't read the first post.
The point was that these were corrupted apps, and going into them from the apps manager would crash the apps manager.
If u can see the app in app manager, then first clear the data, then uninstall it. If that does work, clear the data again, power cycle the phone, then uninstall it.

My bad, I missed that . Yes, you could delete them from /data/app/ (and check if their folder still exists in /data/data/. If so, delete that too).
Or you could use Titanium Backup

I tried. It seemed to freeze Titanium Backup. Although the item dissappeared from the apps list once I force quit titanium Backup, I don't actually know if it was properly uninstalled.
In case it happens again, I just wanted to know the best way to handle it.
