Is it possible to port the Gingerbread MIUI over to the Aria? or even just the notification pulldown?
Cm7 is gingerbread ... look through the themes and apps threads and I think there is a theme for 2.2 if you don't want to flash cm7.. you may need cm6 though, I can't remember

CM7 is a Gingerbread Android OS based off AOSP.
However, MIUI... is MIUI; different ROMs. He's not asking for CM7.
As far as MIUI is concerned, you could try.

If they did, I would be on it. So no.
You CAN however, try to make it look like MIUI. The analog clock, the icons..ect.
Funny that you ask... I'm actually trying but I really don't know what I'm doing
Idk why i completely looked over the miui part lol... they ported it to the nexus one, the nexus s, the hd2, and the milestone, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to be ported to the aria either, it would be fantastic if it was

those are all hdpi devices liberty is mdpi that is the problem
i seen the pngs are converted somwhere but that only part of it
Yeah and its only running on armv7 devices too. I think that's a big issue too.
I was really just testing out the ROM kitchen and seeing how much of a port it could do.
I also tried porting a hero froyo ROM (another gsm armv6 device) and apparently I am not smart enough to figure it out yet.
yeah porting is....yeah
from experience just need a compatible kernel
and then come the modules that are for that kernel, the hard part why i gave up on the espresso port

I was just looking for that thread! I couldn't remember who it was and was wanting to ask them how they managed to get it booted. I guess a mod must have deleted "dead" threads because I was looking for the cm6 build with fm radio for the floyo hero port and couldn't find it either :/
If it was just some dragging and dropping or editing some text files I could probably handle it. Or possibly if I knew what a tmp boot.img was... or status 0... or status 7...
You devs simply amaze me.
And since I'm already rambling.... has any one ever, or is it even possible to, build an aosp ROM from source for the liberty?
Yeah, MIUI is cool but the HDPI/MDPI thing and the ARMv6 kills chances of getting a port. Oh well. I love CM.
An AOSP ROM would be too close to CM for most people/devs to put the time in, in my opinion.

I just posted in that thread. I love the espresso rom btw. To the point where I don't even care about the bluetooth or wifi.
Man if someone were to port this, it would be AWESOME

MIUI... the mod that looks like the iPhone? Any links to pics?
Google it. There are some good YouTube walk-through videos of it. Essentially its a bad ass combo of Android and iOS.

Do I have to install an earlier version of cm7 before i get to the Kang version that is in the roms section? I'm coming from Toxic D9 and I've tried reading up but everyone has their own ideas every where I look. Plus all the threads on this topic seem to be at least a month and half old. Didn't know if that mattered. I just wanted the latest info.
Also I noticed that these KANG zips all say update on the download link in the op. Does that mean I have to flash each one working my way up to the latest? Are they building off each other? Or can I go right to the latest?
Sorry for the noob questions. I'm just trying to do it right the first time. thanks
You can just install the latest version. Also make sure u flash the google apps addon or u wont have things like gmail or the market

How are you liking CM7 so far? I just got my vibrant today as a replacement phone for my broken nexus one. I've been seeing that CM won't be suppporting the vibrant anymore so I wanna see if it's even worth it for me to go as far as rooting and installing it.

Dude but CM7 has support on their forums. So you wont get the KANG here but you can still get the official CM7 over there.... just saying. I have a Vibrant and I have a Sensation and honesly CM7 works nicer on my Vibrant. Just saying....
I'm going for it tonight. The cm7 skang a lang. Never been on anything except 2.2. Looking forward to the experience.

Hi,
coming from HTC Sensation we had a rom where devs took the HTC ICS base - removed (almost) all HTC Sense parts and replaced them with stock AOSP. The result was a very stable rom that looked, felt and behaved like AOSP without the need for devs to manually fix drivers and other issues.
My question is: Is this possible on Samsung roms? Remove TW and replace (almost) completely with AOSP counterparts? I don't just mean theming the rom, but basically turning stock Samsung into (almost) AOSP/Google.
Sorry if this question has been asked (probably) years ago - just wondering.
HyperGalaxy is probably what your looking for much like hypersensation & VI on sensation, thinks it's just changed to the latest OTA jellybean as base.
Keep meaning to try it but have got fond of paranoid rom & cm10 features and haven't had the time.

exactly, VI was my Sensation rom. I'd love something like that. Will look into HyperGalaxy. Thanks.
if you would go to the dev section and read the rom names you will find the answer to your question.. All the roms that are AOSP have AOSP written in their names. like the supernexus rom, hypergalaxy, liquid jellybean, and all the other AOSP roms. there are also AOKP, CM9/X, and PA roms for this phone...you can find all of them in the dev sections
thanks for asking this. i too came from the sensation and was on Hypernonsense. will check out hypergalaxy

Well, too bad, it seems like latest 1.0.2 version includes touchwiz now . I may still try it.
U realize that touchwiz is much more than a launcher? If u want to replace launcher just download another one from market and use it

any ROM that is AOSP-themed like hypersensation for the S3? HyperGalaxy is not, still using stock theme. CodecROM's theme is only half-AOSP and it looks fugly
For a completely AOSP ROM try SuperNexus. Its brilliant.

I'd love aosp. Waiting for mem leak fix first though. That's why I asked about something with Samsung base.
Hi,
I'm planning to replace my stock ROM with one of these two (AOKP or CM), but I don't know which one should I choose. What differences are between AOKP and CM10.1 and which one do you recommend?
Thanks

Just search. I've seen many aokp vs. cm threads, blogs, and articles. It's easy.

Trust me, I've searched before I opened the thread but I didn't find any versus threads (CM vs AOKP) for Evo 3D.
I just wanted to gather some information from users which have installed one of these two ROMs, to find which one would be better for me (which one is smoother, which one is better on battery life, which one has more features, which one is more stable, etc).
Which one do you recommend?
Thanks
I try both I like cm 10.1 but in my thinking every person have his own thoughts and likes/dislike , so I prefer try both which one you like stay with it and enjoy it...

Why not both and paranoid also? Head over to the cdma version and get PACMan rom, it has gsm version also, and it combines aokp, cm10 and paranoid. I have it for a few days and I prefer it over cm10 simple or aokp
Sidenote: you do know that for any jb rom you need to be s-off and downgraded to hboot 1.49, right?
I'm already S-off and with HBOOT 1.49.0007. Hmm, I didn't knew about PACman rom for GSM until now. I guess I'll give it a try, thanks.

On the first page of pacman you only find version 19, 4.1.2 jb, but in the last few posts someone gave the link for the gsm v20 with 4.2 jb. Both work nicely.
I have tried Helicopter88's Rootbox rom that is supposed to be similar, but it seems to have less stuff than pacman and a bit laggy... Pac ain't laggy, so i will stick with it
Thanks. It works great except for some reason I can't get my sim card to work on pacman or any other 4.2-based ROMs.

In the end I've picked CM10.1, because of functional BT and Wi-fi tethering. On PACman the BT didn't worked and on AOKP the Wi-Fi tethering didn't worked and my SD card wasn't recognized. All three have camera/gallery issues (not a big problem for me). From all of them, the PACman has more customization settings. All three are nice ROMs.

FYI, Cm10.1 working fine for me on hboot 1.50...
Hey, this is my first post so sorry if its in the wrong place.
I have had my Amaze 4G for about a year and had wanted to experiment with different roms. Unfortunately there are not a lot which I can get to work with radio and tethering. I am with Wind (dont laugh) but only the T-mobile roms seem to work without incident. I had a good experience with EnergyROM but after trying the CyanogenMOD 10 4.1.2 nightlies I have been looking for a rom which has only the very basic apps preinstalled and no gapps. I really like cm10 because I only get what I want but being unstable releases the battery life is really bad. I wanted to post this to see what people are using which fit this criteria or if there is a way to edit the custom rom zips to remove these apps.
Thanks XD
Try venom rom. You can customize pretty much anything. I don't know the current state of tether on this ROM though because I don't really use it.

The most minimalist remind me of the old Speed ROM days. Those were very minimalist with sense still attached.

I saw the dev page for it and it seems like exactly what i've been looking for but the last time i tried installing i ran into issues. Something to do with s-on/off I think. I have no idea how to make set it to off =/
edit: until i get android rev working would it be safe to just open up the energyrom zip and delete all the apks i dont want? I figured for non essentials like facebook and gmail it wouldnt affect much
