[Q] Some firmware Questions...

Hi everyone, I just bought a Samsung Galaxy SII here in China (its a imported phone, NOT chinese seems to be from France originally). It came with ZSKE7 firmware installed (unbranded) and have Korean, Chinese simp & Trad, British & american english and Hongkong input.
I tried to upgrade the firmware using KIES, but it just said "no available updates", so I started to fiddle around with the CSC (customer sales code) and I changed it to BRI (Britain) from KOR (Korean). And voila!! Kies said it had a firmware update available.
So I upgraded the firmware and ended up with ZSKG2 (still 2.3.3) and I cant say I noticed any big changes after the update.
My question now is, does anybody know if there is a Generic firmware available, with ALL languages (for example Swedish, Finnish & German) and that also have all the support for the ZSKG2 languages (Chinese simp/trad)?
Best regards
Bumbi
Nope, there is no Official Stock ROM with all languages.
However, if you are interested in English + Chinese and have all the apps that China have Samsung removed, you can look at Hong Kong rom.
Thanks LiFE1688, I will give it a try , at the moment am I busy "cooking" my own version. Will see how it goes.

Galaxy S3 Exchanged after problem (O2 UK) Asia firmware on UK phone

Been having a few problems with redraws and then my internet wouldn't open at all even after reset,it was like it had vanished, then i was getting loads of freezes and you couldn't open phone as swipe wasn't working
So received my new phone from O2 but it has a different firmware than my old one
My old one had
Base Firmware: I9300XXALE8 (4.0.4)
Region Europe
Country: United Kingdom
My new one has
Base Firmware: I9300XXALEF (4.0.4)
Region Asia
Country: Sri Lanka
Any reason why i have a asia variant phone ?
You need to ask O2 that question as its not normal .

Does it make any difference what region firmware is on phone ?

No as long as you dont mind not getting UK updates and can cope with the language and the modem actually works in the UK .
Me i would return as not fit for purpose .

Just got off phone with O2 and they confirmed firmware was indeed Asia lol they are exchanging phone again and notifying warehouse that they have Asian units.
I have asked them to send a pebble blue phone out instead of white one
Just got new pebble blue galaxy and guess what ! it has same firmware as above
Base Firmware: I9300XXALEF (4.0.4)
Region Asia
Country: Sri Lanka

Firmware Differences

Hey all,
I currently own a white 16GB GT-I9300 with the stock ICS Vodafone New Zealand ROM loaded on it, the latest version available from my carrier. The phone was bought from Vodafone New Zealand itself and came with VFNZ firmware. My mother has fallen in love with the phone after trying it out once P) so I'm going to give her my marble white GT-I9300 to replace her iPhone 3GS and buy a blue GT-I9300 for myself.
The question I have is regarding the ROMs/firmware available for the new GT-I9300. The blue one I plan on purchasing is not direct from my local carrier, and it is listed as a parallel import, so I assume it'll either come pre-loaded with a ROM from a different foreign carrier, or the unbranded ROM.
I'd prefer to have the Vodafone NZ ROM on the device since it has all the carrier and access point settings, and I assume since this new blue model will also be the (international) GT-I9300 model, I am safe to flash the Vodafone NZ firmware onto it? I want definite confirmation if possible, before I go ahead and brick a new $860 phone.
I'm very new to Android (the GT-I9300is my first Android phone) and have only flashed+rooted twice, with stock firmwares using ODIN. I noticed each different carrier ROM has a differing set of numbers (PDA..? something else as well?), which I don't remember the names of. Does this have any effect on what ROMs my device is tied to using?
Thanks for any help.
PDA refers to the build version of the software/firmware
Phone refers to the baseband/modem version
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.
.PIT refers to the partition information table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. It's very likely you may never have to use this.
If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.
If it has multiple .tar archive then:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
If this is the case you will need to put these .tar archives in the specific areas of Odin to flash the update. Refer to the images below.
You do not need to root or unroot the device to update the firmware.
Please ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies doesn't like Odin, it's like the big brother who's always jealous that his little brother is getting to flash all the phones so he starts to flash block.
Regarding change logs. Samsung thinks firmware should be like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get and that all a big part of the surprise user experience program so they don't publish any change logs.
Get Odin v3.04 from here: Download https://androidfirmwares.net/Tools/Download/8
Just extract the Odin folder.
You will also need to install the Samsung USB drivers for the device if you haven't installed KIES. Get them from here: Download
Just install like any Windows program....

[Q] very weird firmware numbers for an original stock s4 galaxy i9525

Hi,
My firmware numbers are:
pad:ml2 /phone: ml2 / csc:mk1 (xsi)
Can you please help me understand these codes? as far as I researched xsi should be the country code but I can't fund a country whose code is xsi.
This is an Original Samsung Galaxy S4 Active phone that I originally bought from Duabi.
Moreover, I should be getting kitkated but I'm still at 4.2.2 and kies says no firmware upgrade for me.
All help is appreciated.
XSI is for the United Arab Emirates regional firmware.

You should be update the phone with any unbranded firmware for the international version.

Thanks for the link, much appreciated.
I'm surprised that Kies didn't offer me an update yet, I'm now located in Egypt, maybe that's the reason?

Kies sucks. Manual updates with Odin are 100 times better.

I'm waiting as well. Not sure if it is "merger" related, or if they are just slow.
I believe AT&T got it possibly on Saturday.
Just downloading the One UI 2 and Android 10 update (still December security patch).. it is 1943.94MB in filesize!
