Ive never seen that, its hilarious.
I never understand that complete noobs naturally know how to find the new thread button but never attempt the search feature. Way to much work to actually read the first page of the forum.

Yes, one post is enough to tell the noob to search, and no need for another 3 posters to further discuss the noob not searching.
If you want to contribute either share a fix/link or no need to up your post count with silly responses.
You just added to the useless post.
OP try turning power saving mode off and see if that helps. If your rooted you can try using setcpu and set your minimum clock to 4-500.
Search for the other threads there might be other suggestions.

It is already explained on the thread you just downloaded the franco ROM from.
Here it is:
franciscofranco said:
The zram module creates RAM based block devices: /dev/ramX (X = 0, 1, ...).
Pages written to these disks are compressed and stored in memory itself.
These disks allow very fast I/O and compression provides good amounts of
memory savings.
Basically is for storing swapped pages into compressed memory ram.

Hehe... doktornotor has a point, though!
I've read these forums for 2 weeks before rooting/flashing etc., and the time it takes to create a new thread is the same time it takes to press SEARCH - "zram" and going through a few posts. There's quite a number of explanations, for techy to noob users.

yup ur rite!
well, you just waste the page of this thread by bashing the thread starter,
not all people is good and have been on the android for a long time,
the thread starter will not ask this if he knows the function of zram,
are you guys proof which shows person on xda are rude,
please be guided by the rules on this forum,
help the newbies, , dont bash them or make them shame,
now i shame on you guys
this might help,
Creates RAM based block devices: /dev/zramX (X = 0, 1, ...).
Pages written to these disks are compressed and stored in memory
itself. These disks allow very fast I/O and compression provides
good amounts of memory savings.
This is enhancement over existing ramzswap driver which creates
virtual block devices (/dev/ramzswapX) which could be used only
as swap disks.
Now, with the ability to handle any kind of I/O request, zram
devices have lot more use cases:
- /tmp storage
- various caches under /var
- swap disks
- maybe even more!

now look, they may be rude but they are right. i mean u will hear same thing on every forum in world, "use search", or google if u wish to learn more.
on the other hand, if u want to search instead of them, and answer any question that has answer 2 clicks away, knock yourself out.
sorry for offtopic
I think it is not a bad question, we all now basically what is it but I don't think many ppl know how it really works and why why didn't use it before.

I flashed zram on my phone but I don't see any differences, performance improvements, free ram? Do I need to do anythiing else?
Can someone explain me as simple as posibile what zram does.
Beside making a sd-ext partition and flash zram do I need to install another application?

Uh. If you are expecting more free RAM from this then you completely missed the bus. zram is using RAM to create a fast compressed swap space. Also, it has nothing to do with ext partitions on your SD card or whatever. Google for Linux swap to get a basic clue on what swapping is.
"If the system happens to need more memory resources or space, inactive pages in physical memory are then moved to the swap space therefore freeing up that physical memory for other uses."
is this something like paging file in windows?
how do I know if zram is working? my sd-ext partition is empty...
I apologize if I bother with my questions but I don't know where or what to search.

[Q] Free RAM

Hi i have just flashed a rom but i realised that the available RAM is rather low. Is there anything i can do to increase the RAM size of the rom :O thanks
Yes, make a hole in your head, get a camera and see if you got any brains. If you do you can go to the general section and make such idiotic question and see if anyone answers you. Have a nice day.

Franco is not wrong. FIRST, This shouldn't be in development section. Second, its a stupid question.
Optimus one ram is more than enough in all conditions. Maximum ram we need is while too much multi tasking, use of flash, browser using caches for surfing and large downloads.
In all these situations, our ram is more than enough. Many greater phones have even less ram.

im talking abt zipaligning or optimising apps so that it uses less ram and im asking how to do it or like any alternative methods -___-
Kindly read something about Linux kernel/Android memory management. Thread already reported to a moderator, hopefully it will vanish soon.

[q] not enough internal memory

I dont know about you all but i am facing a critical problem. I download all good apps from app market but soon i discover that my phone's internal memory is below critical level and now i cannot recieve msg and mail. So is there any way to increase internal memory or to merge something anyways thanks for your time.
i am waiting for good answer
One more user who thinks that it's easier to make an account on XDA and ask a question than to USE SEARCH.
Root your phone and install app called move2sd enabler and then choose externel as install space and move all apps to sd card
link2sd
use link2sd
apps2sd
ore apps2sd
not all apps
do not move all apps, some can not function from your sd.

there are already more than 3 threads about battery life. use search button and do some research. it can be some app running in the background, it can be you(depends what kind of user are you) or battery might just need to be reset or give it 5 full cycles of charge and see if it gets better.
If you are so much worry about battery, there are about 3 ways.
1.Get a Beastmod
2.Get a Arker Battery or battery case
3.Get a Galaxy S2
Choose whatever you like.
