why is she does not want to install the files
Sorry for my english

Custom Kernel
I would suggest you install a custom kernel like Rage Kernel which is pre rooted and pre installed cwm and no need of installing wifi modules
Try it out , it works

to install a modified kernel should I unlock the bootloader?

Unlocked Bootloader 0.62

I have my xperia live with walkman's bootloader unlocked the normal sony way. I am on 0.62 firmware. What now?
I am basically looking for rooting and CWM installations...but the ways i find for installation of CWM require root and the methods for rooting require CWM.
Any help?
P.S. I am open for long methods...noob with the phone, not with technology
Try to use Doomlord's Root.

Well you need a kernel with pre-rooting and CWM. For that i recommend Rage kernel v2.8 you can even use x kernel. All you need is an unlocked bootloader.
When ever i flash back to stock .62 on my Mini i immediately flash Rage kernel and everything is up ready to be modded.
Hope this helps.

I just want to know whether custom kernel will make me gain root with out the need to push stuff like SuperUser and BusyBox to phone
Thanks Buddy:good:
As For Downgrading it's not Needed to downgrade the hole rom
just flash an older stock kernel ,root it then flash the default kernel

Friend i have two issue with this kernel.
1). After i flash it it display "Unfortunately, keypad has stopped" and "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" errors.
2). I can't see Superuser app in the app drawer.
Can you help me to fix this things.
Edited:- I flashed the superuser app via recovery, now it fix, but i have that errors.
Thanks!
@gregbradley: is that kernel from Neo V, based on .431? If yes, in .431 neo and neo v had different kernels, and when neo used neo v kernel user got problems as above. Not sure if it's same on .587
@android addicts: if you wanna keep her phone stock as possible, my advice is to have stock .587, then hotboot kernel which have CWM, and flash superuser.zip, on the next boot phone will boot with stock kernel and you will have superuser.
How to hotboot and what to hotboot check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690

No. Don't do that.. You will end up with problems.
Don't do OTA updates on phones with unlocked bootlaoder, specially not if you used official method.
That update is because you have .587 fw and .431 kernel, that's why you got notification about update. Let me guess, it's ~14mb?
If you just wanna root, and keep stock kernel, try following my instructions.

If I may ask, since I see you didn't end up wit boot problems, did you unlock bootloader with unofficial way, with s1tool?
p.s. you have another option, since you have root access, install titanium backup, and uninstall update center app
but still, my advise is flash stock .587, hotboot kernel with CWM, install superuser.zip and that's it, you are on stock with superuser access.

Okay. then, do this.
Choose any ROM you like.
Flash via Flashtools base firmware(If you choose a GB rom then Flash any Gingerbread Stock Firmware, if you choose an ICS then flash any ICS Stock Firm..)
Flash any compatible kernel
Turn your phone on and enter cwm Recovery
Flash te ROM and do all wipes that ROM requires(its on OP of the ROM you 've selected)
Reboot and hope it works well!
Hope this can solve your problem

FYI : if you already unlock the bootloader, you don't have to root it anymore....just flash any custom kernel into your phone...all custom kernel is pre-rooted and have CWM be default....
flash any custom kernel first, then you can install any custom roms or official roms with losing your root....

Hi, I know the update 4.1.b.0.587 it's out, and I want to update my mini pro, but I'm stuck on .431 so anybody knows how can I update my SK17A because I tried with SEUS, and it says I already have the last update, PC companion say's the same thing, so if someone could help me that will be perfect..I have the mini pro SK17A not the SK17I
At the moment,4.1.b.0.587 is out only for Sk17i i guess.

Thanks! But i was talking about having stock rom with custom kernel, or do i need both for make it work better?..besides, the reason i haven't rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader is becauses is to hard! XD i remember when i used to have a motorola milestone, you just need to install the app universal androot, or use superone click, and that's it, you have your phone rooted, but know it's to difficult, i have a galaxy nexus too, i recently root that one, and it wasn't easy either but i did it, but with this one, the xperia mini, it looks like having root and unlock the bootloader it's no for everyone
After rooting, when I'm on cyanogenmod9 on ics,I can overclock to 1.6 ghz too while gaming.no lag in using phone too.though my bootloader is unlocked. I would suggest you to root for a better experience!
Cheers.

i guess i'm gonna forget about that update for know, so i have another question, and i hope someone could help me..as i have an stock rom, android 4.0.4, with stock kernel, compilation .431, no root, no unlocked bootloader, no nothing actually xD so my question is, my phone with ICS is a little slow, mostly on games, and i would like to know is what i need to do to solve that? i read on other threads that flashing a different kernel can fix that, it's that true? and besides, can i flash an custom kernel having an stock rom? how can i do that? i guess i need root on my phone first, i can do that, but i need to unlock the bootloader? that i don't want to do it

To flash custom kernel you need unlocked bootloader, but for flashing custom ROM you need root and/or unlocked bootloader. Mostly of the ROMs work on locked bootloader too but if you want to play games so much you should Install Pure AOSP/AOKP based ROM and if you want best experience with games you should also install custom kernel.
