Hi
I think I am having issues with the GPS, I am not quite sure. The problem is that when I open apps like "gps status" or "gps test" the phone does not show any satellites and it doesn't lock on any. But when I try google maps to see my position it shows exactly without any error and locks within 2-3 seconds. It just looks like this (see picture below) with 8 meter wrong. Is this an issue that I should worry about? Any suggestions?
thanks

Newest dcd/radio. did all the steps, using astro to launch. com 4, 4800, location on.
it's stuck at the waiting for a valid gps signal.
look up astrogpslauncher.

using it right now to launch tomtom, without it it says "no gps device".
With it it says "no valid GPS signal"
on the GPS status it says again "no valid GPS signal" but i see some round dots with numbers in them on the NorthWestSouthEast (radar?) thing.
have you read through the GPS faq?
I use TomTom 6, but I don't use AstroGpslauncher. Instead I use BAF's Gps Toggle on the today screen, then launch TomTom Navigator. Works brilliantly, get locks in 30 seconds (with crappy VZW pri).
just tried baf.
install it, toggle on, then launch tomtom. it does the same thing, it just stays at "waiting for a valid GPS signal" (kept it on there for 10minutes)
Is there a small simple utility that i can check if i can get a gps lock?
google earth
scratch that - google maps
TOMTOM 6.03 works for me
install VisualGPSce to test. TomTom is already communicating with your GPS, so GoogleEarth is bad advice since it is only capable of returning same lack of concise information that you have now.
Within TomTom you can also tap onto the bottom right corner and eventually (forgot off hand) get into the GPS status to see the condition of satellite reception and locks/or lack of.
Reset your phone and try outside with clear sight of the sky and leave it there for up to a half hour. You may get sufficient locks or not. Worse comes to worse, there's no software resolution and you have one of the Titans with a hardware fault/damage that inhibits satellite reception and locking.
(I've just updated the Wiki Titan FAQ with the above....)
Help,
I did the new firmware update, rooted the phone, and install Gingerblur on it v1.1. Now the GPS no longer lock on to the satellites with the stock Navigation program. Is anyone else getting this issue after the upgrade or GingerBlur installed?
Peter
i had a similar issue which i solved by uninstalling the google maps update. it works great with the older version of maps, but takes much longer to get an accurate lock with the newest version of maps.
i opened the market and looked at my apps and when i select maps it gives me the option to uninstall the update
I am having a similar problem on my non-rooted unlocked AT&T Atrix. Sometimes when I open maps, the GPS icon blinks, then it goes away completely and I get the "can't find your current location" message. I also saw this happen when using navigation. In the middle of navigating, the GPS icon goes away and the app says "gps signal lost". I think there is some kind of bug in maps/gps that is making the GPS turn off.
Hello guys I recently had CyanogenMod 7.1 on my SGS2, and i wanted to test out the GPS on some navigation services, and it didn't seem to work.. so I tried to get it back to stock android (2.3.5 XXKI3), and it still doesn't seem to work..
I live in Israel..
Here are the things I tried (on both CyanogenMod and stock Android):
1. stay in the same position for 5min with 2G networks only
2. stay in the same position for 5min without 2G networks only checked
3. stay in the same position for 5min with 2G networks only + WiFi on
4. stay in the same position for 5min without 2G networks only checked + WiFi on
5. tried to enter *#*#1372365#*#* and *#1372365#* to get into gps testing - didn't work..
1. I saw that when I use a program called: "GPS Test" - I only get max of 7 Satellites (this is at least the maximum that i got), and i know i only need 3 satellites to get it to lock, but still it doesn't seem to lock on me.
The "GPS Test" program shows satellites "In Use"=0 , 0 satellites in green or yellow (which really means that i use no satellites) , The maximum signal i got from satellites is "43" (and it was grey)
2. When i click on "show me" in Google Maps it shows "Waiting for location" and after a couple of seconds it shows "Your current location is temporarily unavailable"
What should i do??
(btw i know there are probably thousands of this threads on google - i say.. i seem to kind of tried everything..)
Thanks in advanced,
Din.
I suggest you take a look at this thread, it may help.

otherwise you may have a hardware defect in the gps chip.
Thanks, I will try that out..
Hello all!
Since yesterday, when I updated the firmware of my phone, the GPS icon has been shown constantly in the notification bar. It did not use to happen before. I am afraid it might be draining more battery than needed but I don't want to turn off GPS completely as I wanted it to be "ready to use" whenever I need to use, for example, Google Maps.
Is there something I can do? How can I control which app's might be using GPS connection in every moment?
Thank you!
+1
Every once in a while I see the GPS icon light up for a couple of seconds without apparent reason. I have no auto geo locating widget or so running, which might be an obvious guess.
Edit: just noticed I had weather information enabled on the lock screen so that may be the cause.
Hello.
I want to report on all technical forums, an issue that I have encountered in MTK6753. It's about the GPS module of the chipset in some navi apps.
I own a VOYO Q101 Phablet (chipset MTK6753, 2GB RAM, 32GB Flash-Memory), with Android 7.0.
Despite the fact that the chipset model is MTK6753, when reading the prop.file I can see that the GPS module is based on MTK6735.
Scenario:
Firstly, we need to get the "GPS Locker" app from Store, in order to get our "real-time" no. of satellites in the notification bar.
Secondly, we need to install Waze and Google Maps (two navi apps, well known in Europe and US) - in order to do the test.
1. We are turning on the Location. We can choose any option from "Device only (GPS module only)", "High accuracy". The following problem occurs in both situations. Let's choose Device only. (raw GPS signal it's better sometimes)
2. Open GPS Locker and get a lock. Very fast, I get a lock in 3-5 seconds (outside) and 10-15 seconds (inside a building).
No. of satellites: 15/17, 16/17, sometimes 18/20. So, no problem with the antenna or other stuff ... Okaaay.
Now, 3. Open Waze or Google Maps and, in the next second (immediately) slide down the notification bar (in order to see the GPS Locker status).
We can see that the no. of satellites decreases drastically, sometimes till 0/20 satelittes ! So, we have no GPS in navi apps. This is the problem I want to emphasize.
Very good reception in GPS status apps (like GPS Locker, GPS test, etc.), but when opening Waze or Google Maps we have a huge drop in the number of satellites in use.
Sometimes, it goes down till 0, and after 10-15 seconds fluctuates between 3-4-5-6 satellites, then suddenly back to 0, etc., etc.
We can exclude:
- a problem in GPS antenna (than, I shouldn't have 18-19/20 satts in GPS Locker)
- a hardware problem
I have tried some settings from MTK 65xx GPS tutorial (settings in Developer Mode, Engineering Mode), but everything is okay (outside of a navi software .... ). Good reception.
I think it can be:
- a ROM/firmware problem
- an incompatibility between online navi apps and MTK/firmware?
Where is the problem? Have you encountered this problem?

Any ideas?
