Remove boot animation - Motorola Photon 4G

I did a quick search and didn't see anything on completely removing the sprint boot animation. Can it be done? If it can, can someone point me to the post that explains how to do so? Thanks!

Assuming you could totally remove it, are you wanting just a blank screen during the boot process or just something different?
For totally blank, try deleting (or better yet, just renaming) the bootanimation.zip in the system/media directory of your system (you must be rooted to do any of these procedures). To totally remove the red 'M' logo at the begining of the boot you'll have to replace it with a blank (black) image (see below).
To change the boot logo, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248221.
To change the boot animation, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257590 and use one someone else created or learn to make one of your own.

Thanks. Figured it out.

[Q] No Galazy S and verizon logo..

The Galaxy s and verizon Logo disappeared after i flashed to the new kernel..
Do you guys know what happened?
is there way to fix that?
Thanks in advance..
Which kernal? Some would consider losing those boot logos a fix in and of themselves.

Try d/l a bootanimaton.zip in /data/local/ directory and see what happens. Maybe jt or dirrk removed the commands to play Samsung's qrm splash animation and so it trys to do the legacy bootanimation.zip method.

It's still there with jt's kernal.
Hopefully JT or Dirrk can fix this in their next kernel so that way we can fully do bootanimations.zip without lags.

Bootanimation zip files won't work on our fascinates. They are using a .qmg file system on the boot animation so the normal bootanimation.zip to change the boot screen won't work.

Remove welcome to hyperdroid android beta. Thank you for turning me on?

Is there any way to remove the little welcome message 'Welcome to hyperdroid android beta. Thank you for turning me on.'? I can't use a custom boot animation because this message ruins it. Thanks. P.s. I've removed the boot animation to no avail.

Bro, Its got nothing to do with Boot Animation. Its the Poweron Sound file in the /system/etc. Delete or rename that file and you wont have the startup sound.
I am attaching the original Samsung Startup sound if you would like to replace with root explorer.
Hope this helps, press the thanks button

Where can I find the stock boot up and down animation?

I tried Google but what I found was custom boot animations.

I couldn't find that directory but I did find system\customize\resrouce but the boot animation isn't there.
Anyone know?
Just download a stock ROM.

Yeah I could do that but I want to flash it on a custom rom.
Just search the system for bootanimation or downanimation. It should show you where it is located.
Ok I found a bootup animation zip file and another bootup animation file with no extention. Same with the bootdown animation. What do I do with these? Just copy and paste into the new rom ?

ICS Stock Boot Logo

I tried to flash a stock boot logo on "That ROM", and the boot logo looked like someone smeared a wet paint canvas. So I made this in case someone else wants to get back to stock.
Nothing special. Just sharing.
Flash with CWM at your own risk.
Just a tiny observation - I see you're mounting /system in your update script, not sure that does anything or is even needed?
I couldn't be bothered to create a new package. I just used a zip I had on my PC and modified it.
Hmm idk why but i been trying to flash this logo using moto-fastboot but it doesnt seem to work just black screen then bootanimation starts
Are you trying to flash this on a CM ROM or Gingerbread?
This is for "That ROM", probably won't work on anything else.
Yeh i tried on CM10
If it's just a boot logo it shouldn't matter what it's flashed on. It's just an image that's loaded when the phone boots.

Why don't you try it and let us know. The previous person to try it confirmed it didn't work on CM10.
I'm flashing CM10 whenever I get a charge. I'll let you know.
EDIT: I gave it a shot and the install failed. Not entirely sure. Doesn't appear my Atrix is gonna finish booting any time soon.

[Q] Removing or change LG boot logo

Had to get new Optimus G as I broke the prior one. But on the other after rooting and unlocking the LG logo was replaced with a nice looking Google logo with an unlocked lock on the bottom. How do I get that one back?
One a related note last time I unlocked the boot loader would show at the top what selection I'm about to choose (Normal, recovery, boot loader) but now I'm having to guess which one I'm about to select as there is no indicator. Is there an update that fixes this?
tl;dr How change lg logo on boot. How update boot loader to show selection indicator.
You have to be rooted and bootloader unlocked to change the boot animation.
If you look in the themes and apps section, you can find multiple boot animation threads (the Google one you're describing is one of them). You gotta download the zip and locate it using a file explorer like ES file explorer or root explorer. Then copy and paste it to /system/media and rename it bootanimation.zip if it isn't already. I also recommend renaming the current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak just in case something goes wrong so you'll still have that one.
I recommend making a backup in recovery just in case (although you shouldn't need it).
As for your other question, idk what you did but I've always had a "hidden menu" for my bootloader. To get in recovery, I hit volume down (volume up) twice then the power button.
EDIT: it's been a while since I've done this but I think this is how it's done. If someone else wants to chime in, feel free.

I think he's referring to the LG splash screen before the boot animation. I've never seen anything other than the LG logo. And the boot loader menu has always been hidden.
Not sure where you saw this stuff before.

It was never converted.
I have an LG Optimus G. I rooted, then unlocked it with the FreeGee. I then installed Ginsix Rom. My boot loader had the selections at the top. The little android bot was standing next to it and it would show me the different options as i hit the volume up and down.
Every time i booted the phone up instead of the "LG" splash i had a black background with white letters saying "Google" in the center and on the bottom was an open lock.
Am... i the only one?

It almost had to have the N4 bootloader for that to be the case. Somehow it got on there.

I have no idea how it could. I stayed away from the conversion...
Nvm. I've figured both out and have got it back the way i had it before. So, never mind.

Would you mind telling us what you figured out? I'm kinda curious, and wouldn't mind having these changes myself.
@Digil,
The splash screen is built into the kernel- he mentioned 'Ginsix' rom, so that's where he got it. The rom I have has the splash screen he mentioned - as for pulling it out of the kernel and making something useful, at this point kernel stuff is above my pay grade. :silly:

Easiest way to change the boot animation is to use one of the CWM touch recoveries (14.4.5, 14.4.6 or 14.4.7 to be specific) and then flash the zip using the change boot animation in the "Advanced" section.
It can also be done in the CFX settings in synergy's ROM (IIRC).

OK that explains the boot animation. Is the recovery selection menu difference, the same issue?
