Is it possible to unlock the Electrify so that I can use it on another network such as At&t? I have the phone and its not on Us Cellular but I'd still love to use it on At&t.

it does not work on any GSM networks in the US. there might be some CDMA networks that will allow you to put it on their networks.

It's possible if you are running on an unlocked bootloader.

it is not possible. he is on an electrify. not photon. that radio will not flash to the device. no one has successfully done it.

Are we able to use with prepaid cards or tmobile and what not?
nope. US towers are blocked from being used by the photon. Only international sim.

Can this be true?? How can we then roam from tower to tower??
I know my Epic was able to be used with boost mobile, virgin, etc. I wonder why the Photon is not? Hmm..worth looking into I guess.
Out of curiosity, how probable is a usa gsm unlock, I would gladly switch from atrix to photon.

i agree with this
The USA GSM towers are blocked from being used by the photon. And other CDMA towers are used for roaming.
I'm sure one of the genius devs will make something happen?
ill definitely pay/donate to that mod
Damn if a developer could hack it and make it possible they could make a killing.

Dont worry, your English is better than a lot of people who actually live here! Ive heard rumors that yes both radio's are present, but no one has been able to activate the GSM radio in a Verizon RAZR.
Thanks for answer .. on eBay i see that, there sells unlock for GSM for Roger's droid Razr. But i don't see Verizon unlock))
Sent from my DROIDX using xda premium
Don't live in US so not shure but aren't Roger's using GSM?
I thought it were just Verizon who used CDMA.
Just got the XT912 a few days ago, from the packaging somehow it seems they use the SIM card for the 4G data package, and that sim can swapped between 4G devices, but the main part of the vzw service is still cdma.
I found an answer...Verizon droid razr has a GSM compability but locked by firmware

And with the ics update that locked part will go away, or at least the locked bootloader will, and that may lead to being able to unlock the Sim

What kind of phone is it? CDMA and GSM?? So is it dual ON or not??
Please help me, im planning to buy this phone...

Yes, the phone supports international GSM when it's stock. Rooting and unlocking the bootloader you can have gsm unlocked in the USA, but you don't have to worry about that.

So, no need unlock bootloader to use gsm on my country??
Still have a question, its dual ON cdma-gsm?? Or just support gsm and cdma separately?
Sent from my LG-P500
Yes no need to unlock the bootloader, and you can only be on gsm or cdma. Not both. If I'm not mistaken.

I am selling my Motorola Photon 4G on Craigslist, and I had a guy call and ask something that I did not know how to answer. He was wondering if he could unlock it and use this phone in South Africa. I am running firmware version 2.3.5. The company he would be going through is Vodacom. To get to his specific branch's website, you have to add a .cd to the end of the name instead of com. I honestly don't know if it is possible, and if it is not, then I guess I am open to anyone wanting to buy the phone on here. Thanks for your help.
Phone is capable of international gsm usage as well as domestic

Unlock
First off, thanks for the quick response. So, just to clarify, will he need to unlock it at all?Or can he just put a sim card in from that company and it will work? Thanks

To clarify, it can do domestic GSM only with the KDDI radio (which isn't hard to flash, but kills Sprint functionality, can be regained). In countries other than the US, this is not an issue, and the photon will be able to use all features of the GSM carrier (other than 4g wimax) with proper APNs.
Photon can work on any network i must say.
