I'm running .211 on a razr and when I press a quick contact on the homescreen it comes up with the text messaging app in the background instead of just the homescreen also after I make a call and hangup it goes to txt app instead of the homescreen I have to press home after I hangup. Is that happening to anyone else? It seams really weird like after i hangup a call i have to press the home button again to get back to homescreen.
Bump...anyone else have this happen with a contact shortcut on there desktop?
It could happen if you are using a launcher app and have not set a default launcher.
Just a thought...
You could try using back and backing out of the messaging app and then do the routine again and see if that works.

Ya it doesn't start doing it until you start the txt app for instance if i reboot the phone and don't open the text app it doesn't do it until the text app has opened but this just doesn't seam right im just trying to see if this is how ICS is or if i need to wipe and start fresh.
Does anyone else have this happen on there phones?

It happens using the default launcher and using apex set to default im just trying to see if this is normal behavior for ICS .211.
Can someone try to put a contact shortcut on one of there homescreens and test this out for me? When you press the shortcut does the TXT app open up in the background and then when you make a call and hangup from the quick contact does it just go home or does it go back to txt app then you have to press home again to get to homescreen.
I just want to figure out if this is normal or somethings wacky on my phone.
Is this a bug? I can's see this as being normal as it is very annoying...

I just switched to ADW ex and I love it... no lag, nice features, however when I get a text message and press the messaging icon sometimes I have to press it 2 or 3 times before anything happens. This is not an issue of the screen not registering a press since the icon lights up when I press it, but nothing else happens after that about 1 out of 10 times.
Also, even though its checked in the options, I get no little red "1" on the icon when I have an unread text. Not sure if others are seeing these issues on the note.

are you talking about the message icon on your dock or homescreen?
Make sure there is an app associated with the icon. If the icon is on your dock....double tap the icon and go to edit. If it is on your homescreen, long press icon and then go to edit.
On the pop up make sure there is a program associated with the icon...like mine says GO SMS Pro in the gray box next to the icon. If there is nothing, then you have no app there. So then just tap the gray box and choose applications and then your messaging app.
make sense?

I was having this same problem, delete your messaging shortcut and recreate it, it seemed to fix the issue for me.

No need to delete. Just long press edit and assign application. You can even change the icon.

Yes you do need to delete. When editing it it shows the right information, but doesnt work, recreating it seems to make it work correctly, atleast for me.
I tried editing it like you said first, it was correct. But i'm a noob so maybe i wasnt looking at it right

OK, as long as it worked good for you that's what counts
welp, good call on delete and recreate. that worked great.
It was just really strange how it would work only part of the time. now its 100%.
My home button had been acting up as of late, to remedy this I use an app called swipe pad to get me to home screen and other frequently used apps when I need. I am looking for a way to call up ICS recent tasks overlay with a shortcut so I can access it via swipe pad, anyone with a solutionor an idea to point me in the right direction?

interesting, searched for this a lot and ended empty hand, lets see if any other can come up with a solution
should be possible
Interested too
I was redirected by Notification Toggle releaser to this thread:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/2534489-post5.html
Where it gives code to do it via an app
And, he released a process apk that will use screen swipe to launch the recent apps from ICS here:

Now if someone can code an apk to be launched instead of a process...
I used "Button Savior" on my old phone when the menu button was playing up.

Thank you for pointing me to that app
It filled all my needs
Hm, that's good to know!
Apex and Nova launchers now support this as a gesture toggle from home too
No more need to a third party app
yeah apex launcher is the best solution, it's wonderful!

Nova is also by far most stable for many
Test them both and decide, each and his needs
i use apex pro and it is stable for me..i have tested nova too but i prefer apex..
Great!

I wonder if there is an app that can allow a rooted user to hold on the back key for the recent task instead of the home button..

There is one released in the market by FactoryWidgets called

I have a Razr Maxx with OTA ICS update plus rooted running Go Launcher EX. When I to go home screen press and up pops the the 4 selections on the bottom and widget is to the far right. I select that and then I see all my widget choices with icons, but the widget name - text to the right of the icon is invisible. If I push my finger over it the text appears but then disappears if I pull my finger away.
Any suggestions? I have tried every font color setting I can find.

Try a rom. I'm running full throttle with the theme and I don't have the issue and the theme rocks.

It is because the way to add a widget with ICS is by the drawer in the widget tab.
I'm having a weird issue with my voicemail shortcut on the home screen. I try to hold down on it to either move it, edit it or remove it and it doesn't respond. All other icons work as they should. Anyone have an idea why only the voicemail app is having this issue?

Keep trying. You just have to press it just the right way. Never takes me more than 5 tries....
Same issue every time I try a fresh ROM. It is a peculiar and annoying, yet simple to resolve issue. Just keep trying.

Hi is anyone else having this issue with RR 2.6
1) When you are in the Messaging app and you have a message open for example, if you receive a new SMS whilst the messaging app is open, you dont hear a SMS notification?
2) Also holding down the power button to bring up the power menu, i select silent mode, yet i still hear some sounds like calendar notifications etc. Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?
Ah hang on ive figured out number 2. Still have the no notification of new SMS prob though.
3) ive noticed that when charging, when it gets to 100% it doesnt say fully charged. Just keeps on charging. Anyone else had this?
Ok update:
2.6.1 seems to have resolved the motification sound when messaging app is open.
Another issue is why is the messaging apps box where you type the text only only line and there is no enter key?
I take it no one has come across the SMS notification thing then? It just doesnt make a sound when you have the messaging app open???

Happened to mine too when I was with RR v2.6 at least once a day. But now it's all gone after updating to RR v2.6.1.
Dude instead of posting and posting why don't you just edit your comment? Did you see the xda noob video?
