[Q] With a powered hub, how can I assist dev ? - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I got the hardware. How may I assist the developer's effort with the usb port ? . Am I asking this question too soon ? And I finally got my hands on a ( special ) mini torx screwdriver if a "have to" crack it open. I won't mind that a bit ! . Will I need a working soldering iron ?

X10 Video out cable

Does anyone know if the X10 can out put video to a TV?
if so has anyone seen a link to the cable? TV-Out cable / USB to HDMI ?
Thanks
Search stopped working?
@yetep - Yes.. that would certainly seem to be the case.. because if it was working surely ratheen would have used the search feature to find the fairly lengthy thread which discusses this at some length.. I don't think for a second that he's just being lazy. No definitely not..
hehehe .. ya ..
Thanks guys, I should have expected that!
@Ratheen - Your welcome.. We're all happy to help you find your way!
WTF?? just paste the link bro !
Always nice to see 7 month old threads resurrected.
LOL due to someone else being too lazy to search

[Q] Would anyone be able to help me with MIUI Port

Hello,I am trying to break into the dev scene,so I figured I would start by porting MIUI to EVO 3d,but I am not foolish enough to run head on in this objective alone. If anyone devs are willing to help by just answering some questions and guiding my hand through this process,I have read how to o the general port method.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone was already on that...probably a good idea to check with the MIUI people and ask if it's cool with them though if this is something you plan on making public.

how to change a micro usb port

hello,, i decide to make this guide, on how to change the micro usb port of our x10..
first of all you need to have the right tools do disassemble your phone..
you can search the web for a good disassemble guide i found one so you can follow,,, http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/05/10/xperia-x10-disassembly-guide/
notice follow guide till step 12,,, and dont use screwdriver to removed ribbons you can doit whit your nail or the guitar pick or a plastic card (DONT USE THE SCREWDRIVER you might damage the board and the cables
next once your phone is apart,, you need a good soldering station,, to removed the two solder points benet the usb port.
once you removed the old micro usb port.. please be sure there were no residual soldier in the soldier points.
once that is done,, alinge the new usb port,, and solder back...

You'll also have to pry harder in step 5 than you think. If you're using a credit card rather than the sim card holder shown in the guide, don't expect it to be usable as a credit card again as the corners will be bent. When I had disassembled a couple of X10's last weekend I totally demolished an old Visa card.
BTW, nice guide for replacing the Micro USB port!! Maybe you could ask the mods to get it moved over to the general section rather than leaving it here in Q&A.
I have some video an other links here that may help.
And ALL this is thanks to Mckebapp for all his work (you are/He is the shiznit ).
Except for the Videos (I wish i still had his) and the thanks go too the makers.

Xperia X10 Disassembly
This is an addition to your dis-assembly guide from a post that I did awhile ago 16th July 2011 Fixing USB PORT X10 Dis-assembly/Repair and two from McKebapp 2nd May 2010 Xperia X10 Disassembly/21st April 2010 Upskirt Shots inside --> X10 Disassembled. Although their are some parts links, and video links because you said that you had none.
It is always good to check the Thread search before starting a new one. I also asked for people to put links to parts in this thread so it could be like a one stop shop to fix your phone. Although ebay would not be a good stable place for parts I'm sure you would check there if you where looking.
Below is the link to my thread if you have any STABLE parts link.
And thanks for the help an sorry if you misinterpreted my reply.

i noticed something in the dev area.

it seems we have lost a group of our senior devs / chefs / cookers.
.
abandon ship ! abandon ship ! all hands clear the decks !

are they coming back ?

( i'm way too old ( and way too stupid ) to learn c++ )
Please stop troll? posting.
This is not the case at all as far as I know. They work hard at it and shouldn't feel to always leaving updates as that is useless unless something significant needs to be realeased. I know Rebellos just got his nt, but has lots of exams coming up. Patience is a virtue in development. I feel there is something big coming and that it will great. To all the developers......Keep up the good work.

you see "troll" ( i am sorry about that . . . ) but it was an honest question. call me clueless, but not a trouble maker ... . i do not want trouble ! ! !
.
we serve the community by asking the 'hard' questions once in a great while. i have never been afraid to ask . . . its good to know what's going on ( or what's NOT going on ). may be a savy ( cost conscious / coupon saver ) NT user will know more about "where" this device is heading and what it can do ... ( and what it will never do ... )
.
do new users know there is no bluetooth, and no usb, and ( hopefully soon... NO PRESSURE ! ) good video ? ? ?
What exactly did you hope to accomplish with this thread other than stirring up trouble?
well , i find no problem in asking such a question first i thank all the dev. for the great work and i hope they could give us more but they already done alot of good stuff with our NT but i hope to see stable release of the ics
Don't forget about kernel development without that devs can't really advance , and we still have to see what rebellos can do for us. Just be patient people. Most of us have a life out of XDA and priorities.

Pretty much this. If you look through the threads in development, you will see that 1. the devs state that they are busy outside of development and are looking for new devs and 2. are nonetheless active and post fairly frequently.

when the kernel devs bust open the log jam ( no pressure ! . college class come first ! ! ! ) it'll be 'happy holidaze' all over again...

what can we expect from usb ?
Yup, me too. I'm really interested in our eventual possibilities for what we can plug into this tablet. Game pads, keyboards, GPS and 3g dongles? I wanna know too!

General conduct request:
Please, at all times, avoid posts that ask questions like:
"Where are the devs?"
"When will ____ be fixed?"
"Are we getting ____ new feature soon?"
and the like...
If you do not know how to do it yourself, do NOT post questions when other will do it for you. This is a free site, where developers provide their work for free, because they enjoy it. It is disrespectful and counter-productive.
I appreciate your compliance. Thank you.

um, so the usb will be 'full' OTG, and the NT os will have some sort of a setup screen ? . i read ( somewhere ) that OTG changed ( morf'd ) between gingerbread and ics ?
I appreciate your compliance. Thank you.

You know all of your "no pressure" stuff and the like breaks one of the cardinal rules of any forum like this... Don't bug the devs. They get stuff when they get it, until then either buy a tablet that does what you want stock or leave it be.
I was a dev once a long, long time ago long before Android and iPhones when SMSing was being invented. While these guys are far above my calibur I can tell you, your post would have pissed me off.
may we please go go back to the question ? as i understand it the ics has removed the otg stuff. but then that does not matter because we are cooking up cm9 which has the gingerbread flavour of an otg ? yes ?
.
[off topic ! ] and i was programming with the borland compilers ( turbo pascal and c ) in 1980. at the time i was also using the 'forth' language on the 1802 ( cmos ) doing spa ( shelf price audit and such ). and i doing assembly language programming ( and still can... ) with a cross compiler - targeting an 8085 sbc ( single board computer ). [/off topic ! ]
That's funny. Around the same timeframe I punted my commodore 64 because I couldn't get a damned blue ball to bounce on the screen because my coding sucked. I'm no better now.

Developers and inventors ?!

hello everyone
i hope all of you are having a pleasant day
ive been thinkin ... XDA has so many developers ( thats amazing ) but there are smart people and not developers ( might be inventors also )
and since this is Accessories why dont everyone post their inventions and homemade mods !!! maybe an idea so simple helps someone whos over thinking or might help an inventor
also an idea complicated might help alot of people
for example i read about a guy whos make a normal device holder into wireless charger holder by sticking the wireless charging plate behind the device and i think he used glue for that
i mean this idea is so simple also so smart alot of people wont think of it but its actually pretty amazing and useful
im thinking if i could replace the front camera of a note three with a new camera ( not note 3 maybe note camera module or something else ) will that work ? what will i need to make it work and stuff like this ... an inventor can make a new module to install into a device a developer can make this module work by building a good kernel or driver or .... etc
how about it ?
i wish you all a great day
good bye
Agree with what exactly? What is this post.... I don't even
