Hi Folks,
I want to root my S2which is currently on GB 2.3.6 with following specs:
Model : GT91000G
PDA:I9100GXWLC2
CSC:I9100GODDKL1
Phone:I9100GDDKL1
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version:I9100GDDKL1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected]#2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWLC2
I wanted to root without much flashing and here is what I was thinking.
1). Get the insecure Kernel and flash it.
2). Get install SU with help of Galaxy2root.zip application
3), Once rooted flash it with original Kernel.
Now my Question is: For my phone specs:
1). Where I can find Secure Kernel and insecure kernel? Links and name of kernel is preferred..
2). if I flash insecure and then flash secure kernel, will the binary counter increases?
Any other preferred method for rooting ensuring stock ROM is same?
thanks
SAM
Read the stickies. The only particularly important detail is that you have an I9100G. The rules tell you to search before posting, do you really think in the year the phone has been out, no-one thought to ask how to root?

Hey man..given that its a forum..people can ask questions. Lot of time even after reading on forum you may still not figure out whats right for you..so chill.
Help me with the answer...
He did help you with the answer. All the info you're after has been asked for on here hundreds of times before (and answered). If you can't find what you're looking for with XDA search, do a Google search and append XDA to your search terms (do you know how many results I just got with "root I9100G XDA" ?).

Hey boss..Same line of argument..Did u even read my questions..I am not able to find kernel both secure and insecure .. just want to know what kernel I can use..If I am mentioning this it does shows that I have gone through material on net etc.
Help and move on..
Answers for such basic questions are almost always in Development sections (sticky threads, guides and so on). So I strongly recommend you visit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585413 , these users will be definitely more likely to help you. General section is occupied mostly by i9100's users, and sorry but we have no idea about i9100G.
One word. Bull****. I.E - I don't believe you. I absolutely do not believe that I can type those search terms into Google, get all those results, yet you somehow can't.
I know what the issue is here. You can't be bothered reading. You want the information spoonfed to you. We don't do that here. People here are encouraged to read & learn. If you were asking a question that was complex/difficult, I'd be more than happy to oblige you. You're asking basics. Answers to basics are easily found with only a minimum of effort on your part.
That you can't be bothered even expending that minimal effort says a lot. It tells me you'll probably try and take shortcuts when you do work out how to root your phone, and experience on here generally indicates people who do that end up with borked phones.
I am moving on. And I certainly won't be offering any help should you end up borking your phone.
Also, you didn't say please in your OP, which shows me you also lack manners. In fact, your entire OP has this "I want, I demand, give me" smell to it.
You might want to take a step back & reflect for a moment that it might well be (actually, this is certain) that you are the issue here, and not the two people who have replied to your OP thus far.

thank.. I will search..Only reason I am posting here is that I cant post it on Development. Seems Tough to get Original Kernal and insecure. one.. THanks a anyways.
Hey Man,
It may possible that you are subject matter expert and that why you might be senior member. But it doesn't give you liberty to write like this. fact that I am posting shows that I was requesting.
After searching possibly everywhere, I am just asking which kernel etc..it is humanly impossible to all the entries on forum. Doing google only I came to knw the solution I wanted to pursue.
Any ways..I am rest assured that I will never lose my phone by flashing incorrectly.. It will be not because of you but many of other member who are willing to share there expertise without make so much of noise.
No Personal Feeling man..

I come from the HTC Desire and everything is new to me. I wonder a method effectively and without problems of brick, to root my Samsung.
I've read several times CWM, what you mean EX. "...CWM via stock recovery...".
What's the problem of making the brick making factory reset, I have to install anything, it is that I wanted to install CyanogemMod 10.
Thanks.

Well I cant speak for the Desire forum but in this one we expect users to use proper descriptive titles and not silly completely generic ones like "help please". We also expect users to look and read before creating topics, These questions have obviously already been asked and answered or covered in sticky topics or guides.
OP, Please search for your answers. All you are asking can be found by searching. If you are expecting people to spoon feed you then you must get a heavy flame suit on because around here people do not like users that do not take the initiative to do research and learn the answers to the most common questions on their own.. they expect people to spoon feed them. Do like the rest of us more knowledgeable guys did.. read, then read some more.. use google.. read... read.. read.. Asking questions to stuff where these is already tons of info on isn't going to make you liked around here..

I bought my S2 with official ICS 4.0.4 in it and I wanted to try Jelly bean so I flashed XXLSJ with odin, i replaced the PDA, PHONE and CSC..
I don't like it and I want to go back to official... Can somebody give me the latest official ICS? I have been searching for hours here, found one that has only the PDA file... phone won't boot with it...
Have you tried the FIRST post of Original Android developemnet section? either way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
choose the one you had before and it should work out.
Regards.
Just give me the link to the latest one that can be updated with Kies.

Firstly, ever thought about saying "please" instead of just demanding? This isnt your personal tech support site, its a community of smartphone/tablet enthusiasts and developers.
Second, How do you expect anybody to be able to link you when you dont even give such basic info like what model your actual S2 device is?
Third, Rule #1 of xda rules says you should use search before creating topics as its extremely likely you topic has already been created so no need to be re-created and that is the case here. If you had searched you would find the topics that have the stock carrier roms or people linking to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3.
In future please respect XDA and use search and have courtesy when asking for help instead of demanding it.

Thank you very much!
Helo everybody, i have installed samsung galaxy 2 i9100 rom on samsung galaxy 2 1777.
Most of the keys are not working. so plssssssss i need help here. Thank u
OK, first off, thread titles should be indicative of what your problem is so that they have some relevance when doing a search. Secondly, this is a common problem whose solution can be found by looking at the stickies and doing a search, two things that are expected of members BEFORE making a post.
Flash AJ's Siyah kernel. It'll fix your key layouts. And in the future, please follow the advice of the above poster and use more relevant thread titles.
As Miami says, everything you need is contained in the stickies. However, for someone new, wading through the info may be a little confusing at first, so here's a little guidance. First you will need to flash back to I777 stock. Then if you want to install custom firmware, you can proceed from there.
I would also suggest you use this forum as the most trusted source. Read and study the stickies, also the links in my sig, until you have a good grasp of what you are doing. Then if you have questions, feel free to ask. But you should post them in the Q&A section, not General.
Ok, so I guess that is that then. Nothing for me to do here.
@OP, see the above. You have a Senior and 2 RCs that are guiding you in your ways. But no one can do this stuff for you. I know that Panic Mode has set in and that is fine, but make sure that you Read, Search and Read again before flashing anything.
Edit: Woops!!! Forgot ---> Moved to Q&A

I would like to have a straight tutorial and stuff,if u're up for helping me just post if no,thats it
Right. So you think you should have your hand held ?
I'm sure one of the many bozos on here who do this regularly for people; as opposed to helping people help themselves by saying 'Go here, read this, learn, do' which might mean the difference between busting their phone & not (people who have 'steps' regurgitated for them to follow without learning the 'how why etc' tend to break their phones if experience on here is any guide) will be along any minute to hold it for you & shake it when you're done.

1) the brick bug is only there on stock 4.0.4 firmware kernel for u so on JB ur safe for now
2) u can root ur phone without installing a custom firmware for sure
3) of course rooting will always have an elemantary risk for sure, but u have to see to it that, why do i require a root in the first place
No (Ask a ridiculous question, get a ridiculous answer).
You really need to learn 'the basics' before you do anything to your phone or you will break it. Read the threads stickied at the top of Q&A, and also read the threads linked in the Stickies thread third post from the top in General.
The questions you've asked have been asked/answered here thousands of times over the past two years, and the answers are in those threads. If anyone serves you up simple answers without you understanding what you're doing, you're going to end up with an expensive plastic paperweight like countless people before you.
Thanks for your answers.
