Hi guys,
I will be going to Singapore and Malaysia next week. I was wondering, it is going to be cheaper to buy the SIII international version from there? Somehow I have the feeling I can save a few bucks ) In Europe where I am from, the price is pretty steep. The one thing I am afraid is if there is a defect and the warranty..
Is there anyone local in the forums and give me an idea of the price for a SIM free device?
What do you all think?

Definitely cheaper in Malaysia; not too sure about Singapore. The S3 costs an exorbitant 500 pounds in the UK(and I'll assume it's the same in the rest of Europe), while it costs 440 pounds in Malaysia. So, if you think 60 pounds is worth saving, then definitely get it in Malaysia or Singapore.

In my country the SIII sells for about 550+ pounds
How do you know what is the price in Malaysia?
Malaysia sell Galaxy S3 for 415 pound UK.
But you must noted, warranty coverage in Malaysia only.
Where your location you go when in Malaysia?
Kuala Lumpur?

Singapore is selling S3 at around $850 - $880 SGD.
That's about 420 to 441 pounds.
You might be able to get an additional 7% GST refund at the airport when you leave the country but you need to find one of those shops which are able to provide you with the GST refund receipt.
Malaysia RRP about RM2199, remember to ask for free gift. If no gift ask for discount. if no gift and no discount, go buy another shop.

these colourful flip cases are manufactured by Samsung.... saw some at ebay...but the pric tag is kind of steep.. http://stores.ebay.com/bscomkr/_i.html?_fsub=510637119
Am sure lot has been already said in this thread but just a piece of caution from me... do buy with an international warranty buddy... else the cost benefit doesn't really matter. Apart from discounts do not forget to collect V.A.T. (value added tax) refund if applicable (refund form to be submitted at airport with original invoice ) and therefore do not forget to make photocopies of original invoice.

I've seen the actual ad, too. Looks like you'll be able to buy it online starting Thursday according to the ad. It says their black friday deals start on Thursday online. I plan on joining the Galaxy S II crowd then!
I just read that Sams Club will have this phone for only $.96 on black Friday. If you not a member and want the phone, I would get a membership. Sams club is pretty nice.

I might have to check that out been a member for years and never stopped by the wireless section.
I would if I was already a member, but I never go there and never will, so I'll just go with the RadioShack deal.
Would Best buy price match if I bought online?
Edit: BB said they will PM once the sale hits the B&M stores.
This sucks, is this 100% accurate?? I just purchased my GS2 from Best Buy for 149
this is 100% accurate
As an FYI, the Sam's deal may not be out of your reach if you are not a member. Note in the ad the fine print states that it will be available online. They use the same outsourced cell phone seller that many other companies such as best buy RZ use. In other words, it is unlikely they will verify your membership.
Sent my i777 back a week ago and was about to buying an ip4s until I saw these deals. Definitely going back to the i777 for good. Can't wait.

So get it price matched. I got mine at at&t for $199.99...i asked for them to match target @ $99.99..and they did. My 30 days ends early December and after finding out these deals today, i called my at&t store and the just told me that they'll match the radio shack $49.99 and if its true with Sams Club $0.96 deal..they'll even match that.

I got in on Target's $99 deal last week. I also thought about the .96 deal from Sam's Club and wondered if it would be worth the Black Friday hassle to get it. I don't wanna waste 2hours of BF shopping to get the cheaper phone. Unfortunately, Target mobile says that they will not price match any lower prices, even it it happens the day after I buy it.

As of right now i have the i777 from at&t @ 99.99. I asked them to credit me back $100 because target offered it for 99.99 and they did. I spoke with at&t again after finding out the new price drops with radio shack and Sams Club. The manager told me to come back on black friday and he'll credit me back the rest. So hopefully my final outcome will be Upgraded w/ at&t @ 199.99 (done) > credited back 100 (done)> credit back to either radio shack or sams club price.

Unfortunately, I don't think this will work for the phone (per BB website):
What are Perfect Match Promise products?
Products that are defined as Perfect Match Promise products include TVs $899 and up purchased on or after August 7, 2011, and appliances $429 and up purchased on or after August 21, 2011.
Also: The Guarantee does not apply to: Our competitors' website prices, offers that include financing, bundling of items, free items, pricing errors, mail-in offers, competitors' service prices, items that are advertised as limited-quantity, out of stock, open-box, clearance, refurbished/used items, BestBuy.com Midnight Sale and special hour sale events, BestBuy.com Outlet Center and Marketplace items, and items for sale Thanksgiving Day through the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Let us know if you get BB to honor the 60 day price match though.
Do they force plan changes though? A lot of the places I have tried to buy phones from before were trying to force me to double my plans minutes (have an older 800 minute family plan). Well even though there are 5 people on the plan we have a bazillion roll over minutes and need no more minutes. The sole reason I went ahead and bought my phone through amazon is because they didn't touch my plan other than making me add data to the line.
Talked to the phone guy at my Sam's club and he confirmed the $0.97 SGSII . He said they had 38 of them. I'm going to get one but I really hope it's not a huge hassle.
Hello
I am thinking seriously to buy the GS2 of AT&t to use it with my ST SIM card...Now please I want to know your opinions , should I go for this Galaxy S2 , or not ? should I wait some time for something new ? I know this device is of August or Sep 2011 technology , but stil the hardware is excellent ...
Another point is that I can get it for around 450$ locally from AT&T store (plus tax extra) .. is that a good price from a trustful seller ?
Thanks
Edit : I will not buy it through ATT contarct ... I will pay full retail price and get a ST SIM...
Personally I would at least wait till May 3rd for the SGSIII announcement even though we wont get it will end of the year but its nice so you know before you jump the gun.

Can you explain more please ? you mean LTE ? I don't think my city would get LTE at least for a year from now...
Examine your own needs thoroughly.
I don't have LTE, I don't have huge hands (No One X or anything above 4.5 for me!) and I wanted a phone that could last through a day and then some on moderate usage. The GSII in my opinion still trumps other newer phones. It's got great battery life, huge developer community, great screen, and the almighty Exynos to power your games

Yes, LTE is what I meant. If LTE is not a big deal for you, and you can't wait for the Galaxy III, then I say go for it.

I love my SGSII! But, if I were you I would also wait until the SGSIII announcement. I am a gadget freak so for me it's hard to stick to one phone for long, but I'd have to say that the SGSII is one of the best devices one could own.
I bought a refurbished/like-new gsII for $250 just 2 weeks ago to use with ST. Im am very satisfied with it thus far(was previously using a Samsung infuse 4g). SGH-i777 runs noticeably faster though i prefer the larger 4.5in screen on the infuse. And yes 4g is available and works very well through att + straight talk for me.
If your looking for a bargain, i would look for a used gs II (~$250 is a great deal for buying a smart phone like this off contract). But if you have 400-500 spend, you might as well wait for the newer phones which have larger screens with better resolutions and better specs overall.

That estimate seems really low. The S2 (both international and AT&T) is still selling for like $550 new. You think the S3 is going to sell for less than $500? It'll probably be more like $750...

AT&T stores and website are selling the GS2 I777 for $449.99 now
Maybe a little less in 1 or 2 months , ~$350-$400
And for sure GS3 price would be skyhigh in the near future , ~$750 or more when released , at least 3-4 months from now ... Clearly out of my budget..
The SGSII is a great phone and it still has a few more good years left in it and like mentioned in earlier postings still competes if not blows away newer devices. if LTE is not a big deal for you and getting the latest and greatest right away is not your thing, then by all means grab this phone. It has great community support and with it being somewhat of an older model it could be had at a bargain with some research. i got mine for $51 including taxes with a 2 year agreement which i didnt mind cause I just got added to a family plan at Fry's electronics. Anyway grab one or not you wont be disappointed.

well, full retail price will definitely be up there but you can usually find people reselling newer model phones between 400-600 in new/like-new condition off of craigslist/ebay/amazon. Also i pretty much consider everything above $500 to be in the same price range. If your really gonna drop $500 on a phone, might as well add the extra 100 or 200 to get best of the best.
If you look hard enough i know you can find great deals out there, or you could always pay full retail too i guess.

you don't need LTE cause you're running ST.
I'm in the US, and I've never bought anything from overseas, so I'm a little unsure as to who I should go through(not sure who's very reputable internationally) to purchase the international version? And , just to me certain, the GT-I9300 will work with ANY GSM carrier(AT&T/T-Mobile, any of their MVNO's(Straighttalk, boost))?
I bought mine from amazon before I buy S3 I tried note as well. But for some issue I didn't like the note so returned it. So I would suggest you to buy from amazon. And it does work with thm.
Expansys-USA.
You will only get 2G on T-Mobile and any MVNO based off T-Mobile.

I mean if someone don't use mobile data thn they should get the international version. Getting this version I am gonna save good enough money in long run
I bought the S3 for $700 something including shipping etc.
So I got the t-mobile pre-paid monthly $60, = $720 year. I used use sprint and I was paying $130 per month =$1560 now do the math. So I am gonna save mobile price in a year :silly:

If you outright buy your phone, you could go with a Tmobile MVNO, like Simple Mobile or Straight Talk (BYOD) and save lots more. But if you'd go with an MVNO, I would suggest Straight Talk (BYOD AT&T SIM), NET10 (BYOD AT&T SIM) to save and get fast data as well... YMMV
www.straighttalksim.com
I use this on my I9300 for $45 a month unlimited* I bought my S3 off of Craigslist for $500 new in sealed box (risky) off some random guy..
Red Pocket is another option, although you'd be paying the same $60 a month, you at least get 2GB capped fast data access..

No this is the INTERNATIONAL version. I know this store because im from NYC, this store is known for importing phones from Europe and selling in NYC. That why it says IMPORT and if you read it says quad core...meaning its not the US version. This phone is most likely imported from UK. It only says AT&T meaning its compatible with its network

That why it says IMPORT and if you read it says quad core...meaning its not the US version. This phone is most likely imported from UK. It only says AT&T meaning its compatible with its network

I wanna get the Xperia Z2 as soon as it comes out , but I don't know who will receive it the fastest? It sounds logical to order it on the official sony website but they're not saying when will it be available, you can just preorder it, while Saturn and Mediamarkt are saying it will be available on the 15.04, on Amazon you can preorder too, but there's no mention of the release date , what do you guys recommend? Where should I buy it?

I pre-ordered mine in Black from Sony uk & got a free nfc speaker thrown in worth over £100, but I am not sure if you would get the same deal in Germany.
However Handtec are doing the same deal (free nfc speaker), if you pre-order before the 7th April & it's £55 cheaper than Sony
You could give them a call & see if the deal is available for you, which I think it is.
Here:

I wanna buy it from a seller located in germany, in case I need to use the warranty it's easier, seems like I will have to get it on the sony website , here they're offering a fitness band I believe for 1 euro extra if you reserve it on the sony website "SMARTBAND SWR10" , quite boring if you ask me, sounds like your deal it's a lot better

I know it's more convenient to purchase from Germany, however Handtec are very good, they have a 7 day no quibble guarantee and a 30 day returns policy for replacemant or refund, after that your phone has the 2 years Sony warranty.
Not only that but they also use excellent well respected delivery companies & dont forget you getting it cheaper than Sony plus a free Portable Speaker with Bluetooth® & NFC
SRS-BTM8...what's not to like :highfive:
& NO I don't work for handtec , i've just used them for many years & they have been excellent for me personally.

I have also used Handtech for my last couples of Sony phones (including Z2) and they have always delivered promptly on release day.
Not that Handtech is much cheaper than if I bought her in Denmark but the free accessories are much more valuable (with the Z1 it was the SW2).
Btw. the speaker from Handtech is SRS-BTM8.

Amended, Thanks
I ordered all my previous phones at amazon.de due to easy and fast replacement if it breaks and also early availability.
Just pre ordered the Z2 from Sony this time as i want that free wristband. I already received confirmation for the order telling me that they will send it as one package meaning that ill get it as soon as both - the handset and the wristband - are available.
I dunno if the wirstband might be released a bit later than the Z2 so its possible that you get it earlier elsewhere.
It said early april in the confirmation mail. just fyi.

I preorderd from Sony too and I had to call the support for an adress change. They told me they try to sell it starting April 1st but it still depends on the major carriers. He didn't tell me why exactly, but he said that no other shop will sell it before they will and we may even get it before the carriers do.

So I live in Finland, and want the phone as soon as possible, as cheap as possible. Where do I order it? Some extra stuff would be nice if it doesn't cost extra (I can live with 1€ ), preferably the wristband for curiosity. I don't have any use for an external speaker. Sony Finland doesn't sell this Z2 online.
When is the availability date again? Start of April?
I've been eyeing the Amazon.de site and its 599€, without extras.
I'm under the impression that its the same version throughout Europe, or do they differ?
PS. I absolutely want the PURPLE one.
@SuperMarioGalaxy
I'm living in Finland and I have mine pre ordered from Amazon.de as it's the cheapest I can find in Europe. I checked the Sony.de site last night and they are no longer taking pre orders? Anyway, I am not interested in the speaker. I would be more interested in the charging dock. I previously checked all the UK phone sites (as I'm originally from Scotland and I get alot of stuff online from the UK as it is cheaper than getting it over here in Finland), that is the sites that will ship internationally, and including postage you are looking at nearly €700 . So it is Amazon Germany for me.

No preorders anymore. I'm also looking for the charging dock, but none seem to couple it with the phone. Maybe its Amazon for me too, unless someone can recommend another store in Ger for cheaper?

Hey, did you have a sudden price bumb with your Z2? It says 599€ but when I was ordering it, it jumped to 624,01€ and I have no idea why.
Also, is there a hidden Paypal option? Why wouldn't you be able to pay with paypal?
I am ordering the dock with it for 30€. I like the idea of just being able to slam it in without having to fiddle with cables and covers and ports.
Well, I just ordered it but I feel scammed. There seem to be some tiny price increases here and there. Even after summing the final price and postage of the final items, they still add some random ,50€ to the total that isn't explained anywhere. I think I figured the previous price bumb. Maybe I'm paying Finland VAT for the German price.

Yeah I got that too. It's because of the Finnish VAT rate of 24%. I checked my order confirmation and worked it out and it's because of the VAT . You can't pay with Paypal unfortunately as I would have liked that. But I have an account with Amazon anyway cause I use the UK site so often as I can get free delivery if I spend over €25. But not in the Z2's case. But I like the dock. I may just have to update my order. Good finding mate :good:

Hmmm now I was considering it buying it con Handtec but its 626 euros and probably more with the international shipping? I don't really want or need the speaker, if it had been for the same price then of course yeah haha :crying: I'm guessing it will be amazon.de for me , still I'm waiting for the HTC unveil of the one to press the preorder button and get the Z2 if the M8 disappoints me like I think it will
One thing I don't understand is amazon's warranty, I tried to preorder the phone (just to see if it had an approximate date of delivery) and it gave the option to add a 60 eur 2 year warranty, so what does that mean? That amazon only offers a 30 day warranty ? :/

It has the normal 2 year warranty, you can add an A-to-Z-warranty by Amazon for premium service, but you don't need it.
Also you'll have warranty from Sony directly.

Can you cancel a pre order from amazon? I want to pre order it but cancel in case the one (m8) has different specs than the leaked ones :'( aka a GOOD Battery and at least a 8 MP picture output

I got mine from Gearbest, shipping was fast (very fast), it came over the weekend, service was good. All in all I am happy. How are you?

Haven't purchased yet but may be purchasing from the below link. It may be a bit more expensive but I believe they ship from Europe rather than China and so won't have the potential extra customs charge. Would also prefer the black/gray metal model but it seems to be slightly dearer everywhere so silver would do.

I bought mine from GearBest also. Crazy thing is, if you purchase with their app, you get an additional 30% or so off. I got the 3GB RAM \ 64 GB storage, Gold colored for $218, compared to the website which was $255.
Shipping was fast, I paid an extra $5 for DHL express, and it came in under a Week.
All in all, a really good experience for shipping something like this to the middle of the U.S.
I got my (for my wife to be honest) from TopOne store on AliExpress. 3/64gb silver and with DHL shipping was 203$. The best thing is that they ship to England first and then to rest of EU so there is no custom fee's for importing! Can say only good things about TopOne store: very good comunication with seller, checking devices before shipping (you can choose not to also if you want sealed phone package) and pretty cheap price.
Edit: Also bought Redmi Note 2 around Christmass last year and em very satisfied with phone considering what did cost back then (130$+20ish$ for DHL)

TopOne is good yeah.
But!!!! I personally hate it when Chinese re-seller open the boxes! Xiaomi does a quality check and I trust Xiaomi more then any Chinese reseller.
The problem is: When opening the box, they install a manipulated fake-MIUI version and bloatware.
Meaning: First thing you must do after getting the phone from TopOne (and similar shops) is -> perform a clean flash and do a factory reset. (Sucks IMO.)
Very much true but, as I was saying, you can tell them when buying as a note, not to open. I told them to open box, check the phone and dont touch software and I got tested RN4 with, what it seems to be original china ROM. If I'm not mistaken they also write it on description about opening box (in case of buyinf as a gift or similar) and I got PM as soon as I payed the phone asking what to do and explaining about shipping.
Anyway, whereever you buy you have to read description and google few opinions about seller.

Where abouts are you? Did you pay extra for courier delivery or express? As your delivery was very quick. I'm looking for sellers who deliver from an Eu warehouse (I'm in the UK). You end up paying extra but I'll probably pay it in customs if it comes in from China.

That was my first purchase from them.
The discount was related to China golden week.
I got my Redmi Note 4 from fastcardtech and I was quite pleased with how they handled things. One thing I didn't like is that they chose the shipping for me ( NL post even though I chose something else). Other than that the phone came sealed, no tampering , nothing. It had the Chinese ROM with MIUI 7 and I did an OTA to MIUI 8.
When you also consider that I only paid $155 for the 16 GB version I'd say it was a pretty good deal.

Can't tell if this is too good to be true? Very cheap for the 64gb model, there's an extra few quid to pay for shipping and that's if it doesn't get stopped for customs, but even then it's still cheap. Anyone bought from To2c.com?
Sorry price was cut off, it's £127.

Different ROMs?
Hello friends, I am new to the Xiaomi/MIUI topic, so please be patient with me.
I am about to order a Redmi note 4. I stumbled upon different offers from geekbuying and flosmall. What I wonder about is, that geekbuying particularly advertises one version as International Global ROM with Google play pre-installed and OTA updates capable.
I know that Google play is not available in China, but that - in general - I can install it afterwards.
Flosmall does not say anything about the MIUI version or Google play or OTAs.
Would I run into problems when I order from flosmall, then be able to update OTA and install Google play? Or would everything run smooth and easy?
Thanks in advance
