[Q]SGS2 Resurrection Remix v2.5.2 Auto Brightness Problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone this is my first post but it doesn't mean that I'm noob First of all I want to say hello to the xda community. I have a problem about Auto Brightness in Resurrection Remix ROM SGS2. It doesn't change the brightness automaticly although I've sellected the Auto brightness tick-box. Is there anyone else who is concerning about this problem? Is this a bug of R-Rom?
Thank you.

RR 2.5.2 installed...
Auto Brightness works fine for me... it takes some second to change automatically brightness, but it works...
check settings in system setup->display->brightness....

Yea it takes some time but waited like 2 mins and there was no change even I place my finger to the sensor.
Which file do you mean by System>Setup? I couldn't find it. Can you tell me the exact directory?

Hey,
hes talking about the Settings->Display->Brightness..
You talk about the Statusbar Setting, right?
This also didn´t work for me on a Custom Rom (dunno why), but i already changed to another Rom..

Yea he's talking about Settings->Display->Brightness, but there is only one checkbox for Auto-Brightness ON-OFF. As I said it's not working.
So it it working on another rom now?

you could do it manually using root explorer
1.Go to /sys/devices/i2c-0/0-0040/leds/lcd-backlight/als/enable
Open enable with text editor and change "1" to "0"
This disables ALS..
2.To increases brightness (Some roms set it to 125 for eg : Hyperbeam cream its 125)
Go to :
/sys/devices/i2c-0/0-0040/leds/lcd-backlight/brightness
/sys/devices/i2c-0/0-0040/leds/lcd-backlight/max_brightness
Open "brightness & max_brightness" in text editor and change values as 255
Voila you're done:good:
NOTE: This resets to zero everytime you reboot
Ultra brightness is a uselessthing.:banghead:

High brightness in new torch app [CM11]

Hi, i don't know if this should be posted here, i was looking for a cyanogenmod dedicated subforum, but here it goes anyway:
I'm using the latest temasek's rom based on CM11 (But this happen in all the cm11 roms) and i can't find the 'high brightness' option in the torch app. I used to have that option active in the old days, and the flashlight bright awesome, but the default bright is kinda low.
fyi, i google this problem but i don't found answers, thanks.

funny, just posted today the same question in temasek cm11 thread. thought the option could be blocked because of some settings, but it really seems to be removed for security reasons.
but I don't really care for that (have used it for long time in past and never had any problems), I simply replaced the torch.apk with an older one from an old nightly (with the old design) and now I have high brightness back.

for me it worked. one page after this post, I posted a flashable zip version of it, maybe this one works for you.
btw. on temasek ROM it is not needed anymore as high brightness mode is included again in the normal torch app.

Brightness problem on miui

Can anyone help me to fix my Redmi Note 2? I don't know why my screen brightness becomes no effect regardless how I adjust the screen brightness but this happen only on miui rom. But when I flash Flyos, CM or the other custom Rom not using miui base, brightness works fine. Is it due to the bootloader or what can cause this problem. Can any expert advise me how to fix this problem?

I don't think so, it is a permenant problem only on MIUI ROM, other than MIUI ROM, brightness works fine.

I have said before regardless what version of miui you use will have this brightness problem. Now I only use the FLYOS ROM and it works fine. I am not long able to use miui ROM any more

Apps to Adjust Brightness

I have noticed that apps like Tasker and other brightness adjustment apps cannot change my Poco F1's brightness to higher settings compared to the stock MIUI brightness slider.
Do you experience the same issue ? (for those who tried these type of apps)
Thanks

I thought it was a custom kernel issue as I use Franco Kernel, but it seems like the phone itself. Still looking for a solution.

I'm on stock rom and non-root, I think there is some security on controlling brightness by any 3rd party and it should be disabled

Then it really could be some security or restriction, argh. I agree it must be disabled, have to find out how. Maybe I'll check with the 3rd party folks, they probably need to know anyway.
Ok, the developer of my favored app to adjust brightness fixed the problem, BFC app.
Now, I hope Macrodroid and Tasker can fix it, it might be the same problem for new Xiaomi phones.
