[Q] Any way around company restrictions?

I rooted the photon and its a blast. I added a ms exchange account from my company and now the options to use a pattern for unlock are greyed out. Also under owners, it shows that exchange account. I need the account but really like the pattern unlock
Help?

I can't help you with this but might I suggest also posting this in the Motorola Owners Forum. The Moto guys over there are helpful and will try to get answers quickly. This way you have double the chance of getting the help you need.

Email app that doesn't store email password

Can anyone recommend an email client that requires you to put in your email account password each time you connect?
I want to use it specifically for my banking and nothing else/no other email accounts.
I don't really want the app to save my password, because I don't routinely password-protect my phone (too much hassle for too little benefit), and I want to know that my bank details/emails are safe if I ever lost my phone.
I don't know the answer to your question off the top of my head, but there are apps which will password-protect other apps (there are many, app lock, app protector, etc.).
Yeah, I did think of that, but since I'm paranoid and my phone is rooted/not password protected, I figure that anyone with a clue could get past that if they got hold of my phone. So I really want to not store the email password on the phone at all. I guess if I can't find an app then I'll just have to use the browser...
If you're paranoid, why do you stay rooted and not password protected? You could set a pattern lock, or at least unroot.

Convenience. I have several apps that require root permissions, and I flash a new ROM quite regularly.
As for the pattern/password protection on my device - I don't want to do that because it will involve several hundred inputs a week, whereas I only really intend on checking this specific email account a couple of times a week at most, so I'd really rather have to input the email password at that point.
There's nothing else sensitive on my phone that I would care about anyone getting their hands on.
Bump. Any ideas, anyone?

Accessing Exchange Mail without Pin Lock?

Unfortunately I've just got one of the tech guys to put my work emails on my Galaxy S3. The emails run off a MS Exchange server and it requires me to have a PIN lock (or password) in order to unlock my phone, view files when connected to computer, or even use my phone's camera!
I'm on my phone all day for work and I refuse to type in a PIN code hundreds of times a day. My questions:
1) Is there a way to use MS Exchange emails on the Galaxy S3 without the PIN lock? I'm running CheckROM EvoHD 5.5 if that makes any difference.
2) What's the best app for MS Exchange? I'm currently using the stock Email app, but I don't mind paying a few dollars if there's a better app out there (this may also answer Q1?). I currently use gmail for my personal emails and I'm very happy with that app.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks
Hi everyone, I think I've found something which fixes this problem indefinitely.

Has anyone else tried this?
It's not so much the ROM you're using the but the firmware version you're running.
I'm currently using DDLJ1 4.1.1 via Omega ROM and through the Omega kitchen there is a flashable zip to bypass administrator security for emails.
Works sweet without annoying security permissions.

[Q] Stock Email passwords still stored in clear text.

I realize that this has been an 'issue' for a while now, but I would like to know if there are any new ways secure and use stock email client with Exchange ActiveSync and not have credentials stored in clear text on the device. The same goes for IMAP and POP accounts using the app.
Yes, this is really only an issue on rooted devices, Google's official answer is to enable Device Encryption and that there are other email clients out there that handle credentials better. I personally switched to Touchdown, but would rather use the stock client.
I am trying to come up with a MDM solution for my company and really don't want to have to block devices if I don't have to. But as it stands my only options are have the user buy a 3rd party email client, force encryption and/or block rooted / jailbroken devices or use Citrix and OWA. I've spent a couple days researching this and haven't come up with anything promising that puts a smile on my face.
Any other Exchange Admins out there? How have you dealt with this?
For those who were not aware of your network username, password and domain being stored in clear text. Using Sql Lite open the Email app, Open EmailProvider.db and select HostAuth. Within you will find your connection info staring back at you, clear as day.

Unlock into multiple accounts...

I personally have a Motorola Moto G2 (Upgrading in a few days). Since I have a few things which are really personal and secretive I have two users on my phone. One with my all private stuff which I use most of the time and the other for use when I am with family or they ask to go on my phone. I thought about this instead of sliding down the notification bar and changing the user from there. We should be able to just log in directly into the user for example I have a pin and say the pin for my private account is 9999 and my pin for the other account is 1111 when I want to unlock the phone I want to be able to just go to a lock screen where I can access both by just typing either pin in. Thoughts?
