I write three threads into one so that moderators can not say that I want to earn easy 10 threads.
First:
It really interests me, what is gained with rooting?
I do not need an explanation of how it's done, but what really do for a phone.
I am new at this, before I had a Nokia N900, so this is my first encounter with Android.
Second:
Is there an application for Samsung Galaxy S3 like the iPhone Cydia for iOS, where we can download applications?
Third:
For those who have encountered the problem like me. I turned off the S-voice and I lost the icon of the application.
I have unsuccessfully sought a solution.
Finally, I have solved the problem in a way that first I had to go to TASK MANAGER after which I choose ALL APPLICATIONS and that at the bottom of the list there are deactivated applications.
Had to change from DEACTIVATED to ACTIVATE and that returned the application icon and the application.
Fourth:
I installed Firefox 14 over Google Play, but it doesn't load any webpage. Properly installed, it start up, but does not open any webpage. Opera, Chrome work properly. Has anyone an idea why not?
Thank you

Hello everyone,
I use an Office-365-Account on my Samsung Galaxy S2 via Exchange/ActiveSync. The account also comprises a SharePoint-Website.
If I open the original E-Mail-App on my smartphone and click on the bottom left button (the one for the properties), it opens a quite long list with much more possibilities in comparison to a "normal" E-Mail-Account.
There is an option called "Dokumente", I hope that the equivalent is named "Documents". If I click on it, there appears a new textbox where I shall enter the address of my Windows Sharepoint Service.
On every Windows-PC, I can access my data stored on the Sharepoint-Server with <xxx>.sharepoint.com/TeamSite/Documents/, but on Android this link doesn't work, no error message, it just returns back to the list of mails.
I've taken two screenshots, unfortunately in German. Can anybody tell me, how I can connect to my Sharepoint-Folder with this onboard-Feature? I've already contacted Samsung, but they weren't able to help me.
Best regards!
Try another browser, or use desktop UI string.
why shall I use another browser? Did you really understand my question? This feature is implemented in the E-Mail-App, not in the browser, the URL was just a hint.
no idea? I can't believe, that there is an Android-Feature and nobody can give support for this, neither Samsung, nor forums...
Hi guys, I’m new to the forum and fairly new to Android devices in general. I’ve googled a good bit before posting, and searched this forum for some keywords, but haven’t come up with a solution to what I need to do.
I have what seems like a fairly simple need: Set up an android device the way I want it, and then clone this image to multiple other devices.
I work with an organization that conducts a lot of epidemiology surveillance in foreign countries. The surveys are done on android based devices with a collection of off-the-shelf apps, plus one we had custom built for our purpose. Data is sent to us via whatever mobile networks happen to be available in the country being surveyed (we buy our phones unlocked, and get the SIM cards in-country).
As we continue to expand, installing all those apps and getting all of the settings just right becomes a very tedious, repetitive task, when you consider doing 100+ phones a month. .
Ideally I would like to stick with the factory rom, just add/remove some apps and configure settings. The cloning process needs to be fairly straight-forward, and not require a bunch of apps to be installed on the target phones first, because that kind of defeats the purpose.
For the time being, we’re using Motorola Atrix and Atrix 2. We also have some XT720s but we’re phasing those out.
Not sure if this is relevant, but below is roughly what provisioning currently looks like:
1. We receive a batch of phones, say 100 at a time
2. First, do a factory reset, and go through the initial setup
3. Remove as many of the factory installed apps as possible
4. Set up WiFi
5. Log into Google Play account and install the 6 apps we actually use
6. Make LauncherPro the default desktop, set it to only use 1 dock and 1 desktop, set a plain boring background, hide all except the app drawer icon, and have and icon for our app, and an airplane mode widget on the desktop.
7. Finally, enter the server connection settings in our survey app (this part we’ve gotten to a point where all we do is drop a config file to the SD Card, and it picks up the settings for this particular app)
8. Turn off the phone, and do it all again on the other 99 devices…
Any thoughts on how to automate this?
Hello!
since Google Now became available I am always in the dilemma of wanting to use it on the one hand, but not sacrificing the very fast option to search for things on the other. The problem is: when Google now is activated and I use the swipe-up gesture it will open the usual Google now screen... but not my keyboard to type and search sth. When Google Now is deactivated, it works so flawlessy and fast that I swipe up from wherever I am and directly can type stuff.
So my question is: is it possible to combine both systems... means: having Google now, but getting a keyboard shown immediately when starting it.
My device right now is the Xperia Z3C... not rooted yet... but I will probably do that soon as I miss so many things from my old devices (which were all rooted and had custom ROMs running)
Thanks in advance
I need your help. From some time, when i open web pages in internet or chrome it opens some advertisment messeges, my phone vibrate and i can't use internet apps. That messeges tell me to instal some apps or that i have some virus. I have to close all apps and restart internet. The same thing when I use FB and i want to open a link. This is hapend on my s6, my son s5, my wife galaxy alpha...i want to sell all my android and buy apple! I am so angry...it drive's me crazy. I put some photo of this messeges. Please help!
There is no one with this kind of problem?
Those are ad-sites. I hate them. Happens sometimes. But if they appear as soon as you open yoir browser it is possible that your devices contain malware. If you have rooted devices look for ad blocking apps like adblock plus for android. I have never had ads on my rooted note 3 with enabled ad blocking.
If you did not root your phone you can use the app "adblock plus". It's doing is job.
Hi all,
So here's the situation: I have a Pixel 1 with stock (read: overbloated verizon) android. Whatever, I'm lazy and I haven't gotten around to rooting it. I installed a firewall recently for giggles. I'm going through the system apps and merrily blocking verizon junkware when I come across this thing (bear with me for the complete description, as XDA's spam filters are blocking my image links)
It's a system process called 'nobody' with a version number of 10. The Netguard app also gives a number above the name (i don't know what it's supposed to mean) that for most apps seems sort of random, but for this app is 9999.
I try to find this thing in my system app manager, and it's nowhere to be found.
So I keep on keeping on, thinking 'weird, but whatever', and then I come across another app called 'root' with a version number of 10 and (maybe it's a process id?) of 0.
Also, nowhere to be found.
And here's the thing; there's a gear icon in Netguard, that for _every other app_, opens up the system app manager page for that app. For these two? Nothing.
Now, I am not super proficient in android stuffs. My questions for you smart and pretty people are these:
1. How can I go about digging around in my phone to find the files that are running this thing?
2. What's the best way to get more information on what this is? (and yeah, I tried googling 'nobody' and 'root'. It went predictably).
3. How can I prepare a report / who would I send this to? There's gotta be security researchers who could use logs pertaining to this ****.
Yeah, I know that I need to nuke & pave the device. I will. I want to try and recon a little first. So, what do you got?
