Hello!
since Google Now became available I am always in the dilemma of wanting to use it on the one hand, but not sacrificing the very fast option to search for things on the other. The problem is: when Google now is activated and I use the swipe-up gesture it will open the usual Google now screen... but not my keyboard to type and search sth. When Google Now is deactivated, it works so flawlessy and fast that I swipe up from wherever I am and directly can type stuff.
So my question is: is it possible to combine both systems... means: having Google now, but getting a keyboard shown immediately when starting it.
My device right now is the Xperia Z3C... not rooted yet... but I will probably do that soon as I miss so many things from my old devices (which were all rooted and had custom ROMs running)
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I've seen a couple of threads regarding WL on here and also through general Google search, but I'm still not able to do what I want with this, nor to determine if it's possible.
I'm using the rooted version of the latest NC system, so I believe I have Froyo, but I'm not sure about the Android names. Anyway, I want to have a lock screen where I have access to a couple of frequently-used, non-threatening applications, and then require entry of the lock code to get general access to the normal launcher (I'm using Launcher Pro). For example, I go to a lot of foreign language conversation groups. I'd like to be able to access the off-line dictionary directly from the start up screen without entering a code, but - obviously - keep contacts, etc behind the security screen.
So ... I installed WidgetLocker and put some of those apps on the screen, but - despite having fiddled with the settings for hours - I can't get it to not ask for the security code for my apps (like offline dictionary) on the WidgetLocker screen. The ONE exception to this is Owner Info. That one app will launch from the WidgetLocker screen and display my personal info without requesting a security code. But I can't get that to work for the others where I want that (like offline dictionary, but also a radio station and some other selected apps).
Can anyone help me to either:
a) Tell me which settings I need to do this?
or
b) Let me know that this isn't possible?
Thanks much.

First:
It really interests me, what is gained with rooting?
I do not need an explanation of how it's done, but what really do for a phone.
I am new at this, before I had a Nokia N900, so this is my first encounter with Android.
Second:
Is there an application for Samsung Galaxy S3 like the iPhone Cydia for iOS, where we can download applications?
Third:
For those who have encountered the problem like me. I turned off the S-voice and I lost the icon of the application.
I have unsuccessfully sought a solution.
Finally, I have solved the problem in a way that first I had to go to TASK MANAGER after which I choose ALL APPLICATIONS and that at the bottom of the list there are deactivated applications.
Had to change from DEACTIVATED to ACTIVATE and that returned the application icon and the application.
Fourth:
I installed Firefox 14 over Google Play, but it doesn't load any webpage. Properly installed, it start up, but does not open any webpage. Opera, Chrome work properly. Has anyone an idea why not?
Thank you
Hi,
I have updated my SIII with the Poland release of JB. Everything works perfect, but Google Now does not.
When I open it and ask to show me my next meeting, which is the weather, or whatever I want, it completes the search field and search for it on internet. Always throwing web results instead of cards or answering me with Voice.
Anyone knows why is not accepting any command? I checked all the settings of it and don't know what else could be missing (or in the worst case if it depends on where you are located in the world).
Thanks,
hello
Have checked the forums and found nothing.
But windows phone keyboard has this great feature, after writing your text or message. You can then go back through the whole message just tapping on misspelt words once and it will highlight the whole word and give you suggestions that you can pick from.
Its such a great feature, I've looked for a keyboard that replicates it but have found none. they only give suggestions as you type and not after you've finished writing, which breaks your train of thoughts.
Does anyone know of a keyboard that does this.
Which Android version are you on? The stock android keyboard of 4.1 does the exact same thing.
I'm on 2.2 froyo, which is old.
I've downloaded the jellybean keyboard off of google play store, but it only offers suggestion as i type. Not after i have finished typing and when i look back i realise I've misspelt words.
Better keyboard does this also. The reason you don't see it is that it needs to be built into the system for 3rd party apps to use it. If it is not there then no app will do it.

I'm working on doing some automation on my phone, and I want to perform some actions that I'm hoping I can perform using Android intents. I'm not very knowledgeable about how they work or how to find them, but I'm trying to hack some stuff together.
Here's my main question: how do I go about figuring out if I can use intents for a particular task or see what I can do with intents?
For example, I would like to be able to trigger the "Share trip progress" feature within Google Maps automatically (using Flic buttons, which allow me to use Android intents). I don't know if I can set up an intent myself to trigger this action in the Google Maps app, and I don't really know where to start in order to try to find out how to do it.
Another example is that I would like to trigger Google Assistant with my Flic button, but I want to use my Anker Roav Bolt in my car to respond to the action. Flic has a function built in to trigger Google Assistant, but it's a lot more invasive in that it opens the prompt on the phone and disrupts my Google Maps navigation as opposed to if I long-pressed the button on my Roav Bolt and it just listens for instructions without disruption. I have no clue if this is something I could trigger using Android intents, but I'd like to find a way to make this smoother.
If you have solutions to these two problems, that would be great. But as I said, I would also like to have a better general understanding of how I could find this stuff myself for future stuff I want to set up on my phone.
Thank you.
